The Peter Brock
Memorial Challenge

holdensmall.jpg

The challenge

This challenge has 2 different cars, 4 different levels of tune and no closing date.

The cars

Holden Commodore SS
and/or
Holden Monaro CV8

Both cars are blessed with the same 5.7 litre V8 with a minimum of 328bhp & a bucketful of torques. It needs to be powerful as it does have a fair bit of bulk to haul around, but read on and you'll find out how much weight you can lose and how much more power you can gain!

Tuning options

This challenge can be run in either arcade or GT mode car.

  • Arcade Mode - +20% power & -10% weight & Soft sports tyres
  • GT Mode - All mods are available to used. All power mods, suspension, drivetrain, weight reduction, racing tyres, wings, oil etc. The only exception is that NOS is not allowed. You can run a car with less than full tune if you desire.
  • ASM & TCS - On or off. Its your choice.

You can run both cars in both categories, or you can run in one car in one category, or a mixture of the 2.

The Circuit

El Capitan

Ideally, this would be run on Bathurst, but we don't have it available to us. The circuit we are going to run on is El Capitan forward. El Capitan is a similar style to Bathurst with it's own version of the dipper.

Rules

Standard clean OLR rules : Partially pilfered from the WRS!
  • 2 wheels on track at all time ;
  • rumble strips are part of the track ;
  • any tarmac, concrete or cobblestone area is part of the track ;
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible ;
  • if you're not 100% sure that you lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;
  • no hybrids ;
  • no cheating of any kind ;
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules ;

Verifications

Save your replay as you may be asked for it if your time is questioned. Please post your replay here if you have the capability.

Don't cheat. Brockie wouldn't like it.

Submissions

Just post your time, car, arcade/GT mode and level of tune in the thread and I'll keep a leaderboard in this post.

If I have a perfectly good NuGTO in my garage, may I use that for the Monaro?

According to the arcade stats, the new GTO has 350bhp against the Monaro's 328bhp. But as they are essentially the same car, I'll add that in as one of the cars that's eligible for use.

EDIT: Actually, no I'm not going to allow it. It will dominate the arcade category. Sorry.

i'll try this if i get a chance to play gt4, except i can't post replays because i don't have a sharkport:indiff:

I'm going to give this challenge all I can for you Brockie. I won't let you down.

In arcade mode I got 1'52.195 in the Monaro. I feel I can do faster, just have to find a way over some of these bumps.

I'l definately give this challenge a few runs for Brock, even though i won't be able to prove my times if they get questioned.

EDIT

Just had a quick session, I can definately see some more time coming off this lap.

1'52.737 - Commodore SS / Arcade Mode

Thanks your times guys. Leaderboard updated to this post.

And that one down there \/

Here's a little time I did with the little time I had today.

(GT Mode) 1'31.526 w/ Monaro CV8 @ 718hp.

I had another quick session with the Monaro, i can see myself running quicker than this...but it will do for now.

1'51.998 - Monaro / Arcade Mode

I'll have a go at this for Brockie. Just one quick question, can we run GT mods with sport tyres? I really don't like road cars with too much grip.

Yeah, go for it. You don't have to use the full tune, so that means sports tyres are available in GT mode if you want to use them.

Brock build my Commie - The least I can do is give this a spin !...

this is going to be a blast :) I'll do this after I race my Super Taikyu races :) --- Randy

I improved on my Commodore lap quite abit just before, il try and better my Monaro time today aswell. But for now,

1'51.545 - Commodore SS / Arcade Mode

best so far is 1:35.156 in a 718bhp monaro and in momery of brockie,ive made it look like his 2003 24hr bathurst winning monaro :)

Nice work. Got a replay?
Seems that:

  • Stock Internals: Monaro > SS
  • Fully-Modifed: SS > Monaro

Thanks GT Pro. I made some adjustments to the car. Now the time for the Commodore SS is at 1'28.130.
I have replays for both in NTSC format.

Add Arcade Monaro CV8 1'49.895

That Monaro time in arcade mode is insane stidriver! Good Job.

I was trying to beat my Commodore time in the Monaro today, but after 15 laps i just couldnt get there. I got fairly close though,

1'51.578 - Monaro / Arcade Mode

Pity I can't enter a FORD and show up the Holden fans, hahaha.

But none the less, I'll do it in memory of a legend. 👍

Commodore fully tuned. 1'38.523.

I'm rubbish on racing tyres(but not as rubbish as arcade where I failed to get a clean lap).

Nice times guys. Leaderboard updated to this post.

I've improved both my arcade times.

I gave the Commodore a quick session in GT Mode today. As always i can see more time coming off the lap, but with my limited tuning capabilites (almost none) il just stick with this

1'30.937 - Commodore SS (full tune) / GT Mode

So nobody can beat 'Stidriver's time?
I'll give it a shot tonight, though I think I'm going to have a hard time beating it. ;)
As long as I can get a pre-1'30.000, I'm happy.
