2.0 Qualifying Poll

I didn't know you could change names...

Why did you do it, anyway?

 ok, fair enough.

So, what's the short? 'Bram'?

Almost 50 voters in a bit over one day.
Man, 4 more days of waiting, who else is gonna vote?...

I know, I'm being a pain. It's just because I'm stuck at home and can't move, and every hour seems like a day...

 ok, fair enough.

Thats his name, some people have called him "UltraBram".

I think the name is pretty clever but IMO, I like Ultrashot better.

EDIT: if things don't change it looks like there's going to be a tie breaker poll.

Yup, there's 4 shots with 7 votes, and only three of them will remain.

Some pretty nice shots in there. My favorite is probably the blue RX-8. I really like the background in that one. The NSX looks nice too, as well as that B/W Prelude! 👍 And I guess wheel enlargement is in then right? Because that last Skyline shot has had them enlarged way over the top. It looks really good, but I thought that was still against the rules. Anyway, most of them look swell. Too bad I couldn't enter. Just too flipin' busy...:indiff:

That's a good question, 440.

ARE WHEEL ENLARGEMENTS ALLOWED OR WHAT?

It should be clear before the actual tournament starts, imo.

OK so you guys already knew most probably the Skyline wa smine...

The rims were not enlarged 👍 There were as big, you should know that Charger since you have those same rims on one of your Skylines 👍

Really?! :dunce:

What rims are those? They're huge!

It would be solved with the unedited photo...

Also, about rim enlargement; there was never a firm consensus from the members of the board about whether or not we'd disallow it. I do remember asking in H2H about it and nobody really discussed it. I know it definitely isn't in the spirit of the original rules, however.

well, i think you can just consider that as an open loophole? but what's the point of having rules if people are just gonna bend it anyways ? isn't that a bit ridiculous ? no pun intended, just my 2 cents :D

Well, this is what I think:

Rules say "You can use layers for overlay and layer adjustments, but not to alter the geometry and original subject matter of the picture: like adding stickers and body kits, and objects that are not in the original image."

I believe that enlargement of the rims can't be said to be allowed or forbidden by reading these rules, so consensus will be needed, preferrably before the real tournament starts.

I don't have a problem with rim enlargement, really. And though I'm not saying That Skyline had it's rims enlarged (Bram said it doesn't and until proof otherwise I'll believe him), BUT I do notice one thing:

The caliper on the front wheel is still. Now, either that's a pasted wheel or Bram did the blur on the rim keeping the caliper still (doable, and he's got the skills for it).

Anyway, like on the PMC qualifying round, one of the entries has a banner on top of a NY building and it'll pass because it's qualifiyng round, so should in this case be overlooked (IF it's a pasted wheel), which I think is a minor problem compared to a banner on top of a building.

And to close (hope anyone reads this to the end), I also think enlarging a rim changes a lot less an image than making it spin with a radial blur and/or zoom blurring the entire background, which are both allowed.

I reckon it's straight from ingame. The size of the wheels and the profile of the tyres change really dramatically on some cars when you put racing tyres on them.

I had a shot of a Peugeot 206 once where it looked like the wheels had been enlarged but they hadn't. They had gone massive with really low profile tyres since I fitted it with racing tyres.

+ it seems to me that wide angles have a little influence on the rims as well, well at least to me it seems like that.

But anyway, how ironic it may sound, yesterday, my controller broke down, I had it before and fixed it but it's completly gone now so I can't take any shots untill next week (all shops are closing for Easter from tomorrow) and this morning, I planned on uploading the original shot but realised I cleaned my USB drive for the shots I took the last couple of days (including the red Supra) so I guess I'll have to withdraw from the Tournamens anyway, I cannot see a possibility to have a decent entry ready, unless it's all Photomode (only the sticks are broken so in-game shots are impossible).

However, I do think we have to discuss the rim enlarging thing, I'll make a seperated topic on that 👍

I think what alot of people dont realize is that when you buy rims in the "Todays special" section, they can be ALOT bigger than the stock rims, or any of the brand name wheel sections.. They are rims from other cars, hence, they fit differently &, like I said, they can seem alot bigger OR smaller than stock. Like, if you put CTR2 rims on a civic, etc....

🤬 🤬 🤬
Just realised that I am away all of next week until Saturday.... Wish I could still enter but I can't now it's really made me angry. Wish there was a way that I could still enter.

Damn, that REALLY sucks.👎
But I don't think you have to retire from the tournament, Bram. C'mon...
I believe you'd still have the time to come up with an awesome entry before the deadline of the 1st round, don't you think?
The qualifying poll will last a few days more, and in 2 more days you'll have the new controller.

Absolutely right.
When you're choosing them, if you look carefully, you'll see that sometimes the difference as you scroll through the 'today' rims, may be as high as 3 inches or more, which is a lot.
Plus, and this is valid for most of the cars, the more recent they are (year of make) the bigger rims they'll have when fitted with racing tyres.

Yeah Bram...the deadline will only be on the other weekend, and I´m thinking giving one extra day ( 8 days ) because I will be off town. So don´t give up 👍

I am not trying to upset anyone, and especially not you Bram, but the wheels in your Skyline shot have got to be enlarged. I have taken many many pictures of the Skyline and swapped rims on and off that car a ton of times, and I am 99% positive that the Skyline is not fitted with any wheel that size, no matter what rims you have, or tire type you have equipped. It just doesn't occur.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing though. I am in 100% for the wheel enlargement. I think it improves the look of almost any car drastically. I am not going to lie, I have done the trick many times. Not to a noticeable extent, but I have done it. Sometimes more than others, but I have tried to keep it within reasonable limits.

Anyway, it's a shame you can't show the original, and that your controller is broken. That's why you always have a backup!:)

I am I the only one to notice the similarity to Ultrashots Skyline and his Monaro shot he used in the last competition they look almost the same apart from the diffrent cars? :)

Well, unless all of the themes I'm going to get are Photomode locations included, I can stay but I really don't like the Photomode locations, I don't know why though. It just seems I can't get anything good out of there besides that one SLR shot...But I really regret cleaning the USB drive though, I could go and take another shot in Photomode, but that's a whole different location. But I really do hope people will notice the thread I made on this topic of rim enlarging so we know the rules 100% in the future to avoid these confusing situation 👍 I can't get a new controller in the next 3-5 days as well: They are closed from tomorrow and the three following days. That means I still have more then a couple of days left though but the nearest shop is more then 10 miles away (We're talking about Norway ;)) But I'll do my best 👍

The reason I did not vote for the 9th shot, is because I can see some strange colors on the car, which ruins it for me. Anyway this poll has some great entries.

i think rim enlargements should just be allowed in 2.0 anyways, since we're already doing a lot of editting to the pics, but i guess i dont have a say against that. anyways hope you get your stuff fixed bram.

But you can't beat that Monaro with a 10ft pole, that was just awesome.

___________

It's been 24h without a single vote now... NTX, how about closing the poll to have the tie-braker? It wouldn't collide with Bram's 'controller' problem, and by the time the tie-braker ended, he'd probably have a new one already.

Just my 2 cents.

Just remember that polls can't be edited or closed early, so I say just wait for another day and a bit till it finishes... I'm sure something will even out.

You're right, jacoja.

It's just that I'm bored here, stuck in a bed... :indiff:

If I knew people would vote so fast I would put less days to vote. Next poll will have 4 days at least (If I go off town, then a extra day will be given).
👍

NTX, would it be possible for you to post (both here and in the PMC poll) the members' names that have their entries submitted?
