I was meant to have finished it yesterday, but a friend of mine had an accident (nothing serious - the hood opened up on the freeway and shattered the windshield, which unbelievably didn't collapse), and I had to pick her up and whatnot.

It wasn't a Geo Metro was it? An ex of mine had the same thing happen to her. Damn things are notorious for that.

No, actually it's a '95 Seat Ibiza. Still, she was damn lucky no glass piece came out onto the car's cockpit. Plus, she had her daughter with her and it could have been really serious if she had crashed.
She's the best woman-driver I know, just excellent driver. Probably many men would have crashed if at that speed the hood popped and smashed on your windshield, leaving you 'blind'.

Mind you, it happened at night. On the freeway. No public lamps bordering the road on that area.
