GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Entries Review – Well, it is a little difficult to review PMC Style entries, but I’ll give it a shot:

BMW M3 – Amazing piece of Photography / Composition combo. The reflections are very well captured, has well has its background, contrasting the blurred with the sharpness of the car. It got my vote.

Spyker – First of, I didn’t know the spyker came in silver. I remember it in black and white, not in silver. But I have to say, great composition, and great “contra-luz” background combined with a white full of reflection car. The colours and the blueish tone are very just eye catching.

Cadillac – Well, I like lots and lots of blur, and it gets well in some images, but not quite in this one. I think the blur is too much exaggerated for the type of shot, it doesn’t feel right because the road beneath the car is blurred also, with the car very sharp, and looking like it is floating. Also the subject is just too centered in the image, and a in front shot is not quite my “forte”.

TVR – Amazing in all ways. No more words needed.

Aston Martin – An ok shot, but not quite impressive. It needed some more angle work, has well has rotating the front wheels to the right (from driver position). The blur isn’t working (maybe the F’s are not low enough) , and if maybe the camera where a bit higher, the shot could be a least more interesting.

The Sepia tone one – It’s a great shot, saved with low quality. It is really a pity, the shot is good, but it looks like it was saved in standard or in fine mode, instead of superfine. There are too many artifacts, and it is really low res. I would advise the owner of this shot, to look for his photo mode camera settings.

The Ruf – I am impressed with the number of votes this shot has. The car is too blurred for my taste and it is a aggressive shot, combined with a bit too bright/not enough contrast problem (normally caused in the ring).

Zonda – Not quite seeing what the photographer is aiming for. The trees? They are sliced in the upper part. The car? The rear of it is also sliced. Also, the wheels aren’t even spinning. I would have put the camera a bit lower, and then try to not cut or slice the trees or the car (depending on the subject).

TVR at Tsukuba – Well, the shot is not bad. I like the water smoke trail, but the rear of the car just kills me. It is not your fault (who ever took the shot), but it just doesn’t make it for me. Also, the shot could use a little cropping in the bottom.

Nismo – The crowd must be saying: “Hey man, you forgot to lower the F’s, there is no blur man, you know how bad rendered we are, we look like made of paper”.

TVR Cerbera – An aquarium type of shot. It would have my vote, if the car was not sliced, and the wheels were spinning…wait a minute, how are the wheels not spinning if I am seeing the grass with motion blur???

Tommy Kaira – It is a good photo, but it just doesn’t make it for me. Every line is directing to the ugly rear of that car, and the wing doesn’t help at all. Also, I think that the white background would be better with a black car, and not with a silver one.

Subaru – Simple and effective. I am not to found of this kind of shots, but the colour, light, the rear lights and the blur are just too amazing to ignore.

Tommy Kaira ZZ – Well, I think it should show a bit of the end of the bridge, and the fact that all the bad texture of the road are exposed. Great detail on the car, but the shot itself, it doesn’t quite stand IMO.

DMC(?) – It’s not a bad shot, but is way too bland. The whites are a bit to high, and it could use some major cropping.

Aston Martin (last one) – 2 Problems: Too dark and bad camera angle. The camera should be lower, and more to the left, with a bit rotation, less zoom and capturing the whole building with a lot of blur, not centering though.

This was all in my Humble Opinion, and I know, some comments are a bit harsh, but the only way to get better at this is from other people’s reviews and tips. I hope no one gets offended by this review.

Great work all around and keep it up. 👍

I voted for my eight.

CSL. It's all great. Always fighting against bad textures and wrong reflections... It must get a photomode research prize lol.

Laviolette. Nice blur and backlit as usually. The color combination is a bit boring btw.

300C. Interesting choice and very nice execution.

T350. Cool DOF and composition. If it had more contrast and the car were out of the shadow, might be enhanced.

Prowler. Cars for pleasure fit nicely the epic road and special atmosphere.

ZZII. High focal length and dominant symmetry made it special. The scene is also special.

Impreza. I think the quite realistic car makes the pic be eyecandy.

Another ZZII. Nice background and camera position.

@ tupacrulez – You are only supposed to answer to my comment (that implies saying witch car did you use) after the poll closes, since this is a anonymous poll. Or, sending me a P.M.

Poll is almost closing, any last votes?

Round 1 will be up right after poll closes guys, so stay tuned:tup:

Looking forward to round one Nuno, came through this round better than I expected to be honest 👍

Very good entries for this tournament, it's a shame the 2.0 Theme isn't running but some very high quality entries here. I'll give a quick comment on each picture I voted for.

BMW M3 CSL This picture is rather good. As Alex said the person must have researched good textured cars, the reflections seem spot on although I can't say I'm a huge fan of the car filling the whole image so perhaps the composition needs to be a bit more intresting?

Spyker C8 Hmmm...Nuno? Has that distinct style to it, generally a good picture. The composition is good and the blur is nicely executed. However, maybe a bit blue? Love the way the red lights stand out against the car and the background though. Nice work!

300C Nice blur, nice colours. Generally a fairly nice composition. Nice work.

TVR 350C I'm going to guess Bram's shot here? Has his style, nice shot though who ever's it is. Good composition, and is just in general appealing!

Tommi Kaira Now to get this straight, I don't like the car and I don't believe the un-tasteful spoiler helped this photo. However looking away from what car it is and the spoiler, it is a good shot. The lines lead effectively to the car to create a eye drawing effect. Nice work, just pick a better car next time!

There the ones I voted for, it certainly will be intresting too see who's who in this round. I certainly don't have a clue apart from the ones I have mentioned.

Heh, LdS picked the same car as me. :D Well I didn't really expect to have gotten so many votes when Nuno personally said to me "This is gonna be a tough" and said to myself I wouldn't stand a chance! But I'm amazed that I have gotten 17 votes though, so thank you guys for voting me. 👍

The reason why I had choose that particular car was because it was the first thing that came into my mind when I read the theme "silver cars". :dunce: For some reason, the ZZII looks perfect for a silver car and the shape is just "supercar like" for some reason or another. The Fish Market place was a bit of a gamble, as the place (and at that spot) had a special feeling to it. Maybe you would know if you visited my gallery and looked at my old posts..... ;) Also, I know many has said that the spoiler really ruined the effect of the shot, so I apologize if I didn't please anyone. It is my race car you know, and it would look plain if it didn't have a spoiler back there.... :P

Yup the high contrast of the shot helped you out Muz. The spoiler didn't however :sly: I like the composition it had.
I really can't believe how many votes I got. But I sincerely thank those who did vote for it. That car is the epitome of silver to me, I guess just as The ZZ is Muz'. I knew I wanted that location and angle I used. Glad it translated well to the finished product.
