It's knockout time! Good luck everyone.

Knockout yeh I am going to be knocked out if NTX's entry is as good as I think it will be. Just waiting for the actual poll now. I am soooo nervous :nervous:

Not much to say, they all rock.. Not giving a review here, but i must say they all look spectacular! Well done guys!

Rubbish? It looks sweet dude! It was a tie between you and NTX for me.

Thats not what the votes are telling me. Infact I feel as if I have let myself down cause I know I can do better.

That's the feeling i had on my Dualnote shot ;)

Nah I feel worse than that because on this one I attempted a clean up which turned out 🤬. And I tried really hard oh well now I am out of the tournement practically.

thanks for all the votes so far guys. specially you ultrashot. and speedster, its too early for you to say you're 'out of the competition' now. have faith dude.

Mine and the 2 below are strikingly similar...lol.
I think I'm going to be losing this round though, Drift did a better job at the location 👍

Darn. I thought I had the best work I've done in a while, but the poll really disagrees with me. :( Ah well, hopefully there's gonna be another tourney soon enough, I can't wait to get back into the action.

I also can't believe how similar they are.
Same track, same location on the track and very similar angles. Spooky.
I can't see how you are going to lose though, you shot is amazing as always.
I am honoured that you think I did a better job than you.
We will have to wait and see what the outcome is. You are winning so far though. :D

I will vote later, too tired right now.

Drift, with a closer look, your shot is amazing. Now I know why you haven't updated in a while :mischievous:👍

NTX vs speedster:
No doubt I have to vote for NTX, becuase his style works really well with the theme. Not to mention the dusk-like tone catch my eyes everytime. Speedster's entry is great as well, but it doesn't scream limit for me.

drift vs mog:
Can you believe they almost take a same picture? Same location, same long straight, just different direction  Mog continues his purple tone, it works well with red and blue car colour scheme, but I think purple is the biggest enemy of Citi d Aria, unless make a strong overiding like what he did with his castrol celica. For drift's, his car colour choice is far more harmonic to the background colour. Both composition and blur job are slight better as well. Interesting to see Drift using half opacity blur layer, which is another plus for me. Final word, drift got my vote.

jgda9rs vs Ultra:
Ultra must be falling in love with low front angle lately. Very good cleanup and blur technique, however the road blur isn't the best yet, I would rather lens blur the original texture before adding noise, also the bottom part of the photo doesn't get blur properly, my other suggestion is to enlarge the canvas before blurring. Jgda9rs is the one I vote for. Very interesting colour and angle even though it does not as sharp as ultra's. His entry is more about underdog theme, it shows the S14 trying very hard to match up supercars like ZZII and W12. In terms of technique, it is interesting to see horizontal motion blur on road texture to eliminate the eyesores. Also note that there is Nissan banner on the wall to match the S14, but I bet it is a coincidence :)

mini vs dman:
I love dman's work in general, but this time I am a bit disappointed on what he offers. Good choice on the car and feature, but not enough cleanup specially for closeup shot like that. Mini's is just about as good as dman's, I vote for him because more interesting lighting and subject matters. However it is very hard to pick my favorite on this pair.

Limits: Its obvious which is NTX's entry - it has his signature style. Both shots are extremely clean and look excellent, but I feel NTX's entry fulfills the theme the best. It is also a TINY bit cleaner, IMO.

Special Conditions: Both shots have very good zoom blur, but I feel the colors look awesome on the Audi shot. The renault/lancia shot (Moglets, I'd assume) is very awkward to me, for some reason, at least at full size.

Underdog: Both shots fulfill the theme well. The 787b shot is, however, my favorite, due to the composition and colors. The second's red tint is a little much for me, even though it is very well done.

Detail: I actually agree with Franz in saying the Minicooper's shot is very interesting. The subject's headlight looks awesome and the colors kick ass. As for mine - I spent at least 2 hours cleaning that sucker up - the SLR has TERRIBLE tailight textures, so I did the best I could, without using vector art. Good luck, MiniCooper - excellent shot.

Mog continues his purple tone, it works well with red and blue car colour scheme, but I think purple is the biggest enemy of Citi d Aria, unless make a strong overiding like what he did with his castrol celica.

Is it really showing up quite purple? Because on my monitor my shot is basically a balance between the orange colour it originally had and a cooler tone, and it's been calibrated to match my printer... :ill:

Doesn't look purple to me, did you enlarge it, franz?

Nice write-up Franz!, i have to agree with much of what he has said.

I must agree about Drift2XS' shot, i noticed the half capacity blur aswell, which is what won it for me. I'm absoloutly in love with the shot, much better then anything i could do. Much better then anything ive ever seen from him aswell, Well done mate!! Moglet's shots are always among the best, but couldn't grab my vote this round, i think its unfortunate for them to have such similar shots.

NTX, Luckily for you, this theme suits your style absoloutly perfectly, I knew from the beggining you would be tough to beat this round. Unluckily for speedster. I think its the best shot ive seen from him, but just was unfortunate to be put up against NTX in this round.

Ultra took this round for me again, a crisper shot in my eyes, although it wasn't he's best, and nothing original, it had a more quality feel to it. jgda9rs' shot i believe, like Franz said had a better relation to the theme, but i think unfortunetely the use of GIMP limits he's abilities to produce a competition winning shot. If you can some how grab a hold of Photoshop jgda9rs, you could deffinetely be among the best on the forum.

dmanbluesfreak, took the win for me. Because it is a much crisper shot. With more clean-up that shot could of been really nice, as i love the angle and tone to it. MINICOOPER120's shot wasn't detailed enough for this theme, I believe he had the right idea with the use of those headlights. If he could of managed to show off the detail from them, it would of been a round winner.

Best of luck in the rounds to come guys!

a - i wish more there were more write ups for the pmc comp as well ...

Mmm, your right. There should be more write-ups for the PMC comp.

And yes, i personally believe Gimp is some what limiting for a competition with these kind of requirements. For the PMC competition i dont think Photoshop has any kind of advantage.

Gimp is about as good as Photoshop for normal users
however I see gimp has better radial blur filter for accurate center
so photoshop has its weakness as well

Speaking the purple tone from moglet, I actually mean the cooler tone you gave to your entry. I see you are trying to balance the original browny tone to more natural colour, but it doesn't work in Citi d Aria most of the time. I found that using yellow-orange tone or B&W came up really great. However the exception would be like what you have done with the Celica shot, the yellow-purple tone almost override the original colour. Or lower the background satuation and adjust the colour balance of it without messing the cars. Just my opinion, please don't take this personally :)

very nice write ups franz. by the way, thanks for the vote. i'm not winning at the moment, but i'm glad he's not running away with the votes, which was my 1st objective. but i hope i do catch up a little bit more.thanks again

38 voters and yet only 34 vote in our category, as well as in Ultrashot's and Jgda9rs' category. Why are people skipping certain matches? Is it because they can't decide?

:(I Have Lost Boo Hoo Hoo :(
I think that some people are missing out certain sections too. I wish I had a second chance to retake that photo.
