Mmm, your right. There should be more write-ups for the PMC comp.

And yes, i personally believe Gimp is some what limiting for a competition with these kind of requirements. For the PMC competition i dont think Photoshop has any kind of advantage.

and what makes you think that ?

and what makes you think that ?

I see better results from photoshop users in the 2.0 comp. Simple as that really. Ive never used the program at all, i just take my opinion from other's shots. I saw considerable improvement from Ultrashot when he moved on to photoshop. I was simply suggesting you do the same.

Heading a bit off topic. Apoligies.

To be honest, GIMP is very limited for the 2.0 rules. The smudge tool is allright but even when you use only 2 percentage of it, it smudges out just too much. The radial blur is crap, simple like that, it's crap. I don't know how much of you guys remember my GIMP work but you clearly see how low the quality of theblurfilters in there is.

i was just wondering really :) sorry if i offended you in some way :( you're right about what you said though..im really fed up of it too. specially now in the improvement stage, i feel like i'm dogged beucase of the limits of the program, which is realyl annoying. it makes me feel 'plateau'd' if you know what i mean. everytime i use it, i feel it's the same thing over and over again.
i'm downloading photoshop right now as we speak, and wish me luck that it works. thanks for the compliment on your write up by the way....i really appreciate it :)

the smudge tool in gimp sucks balls. it's pathetic. to cut things short, you're right. i totally agree with you. and to think that i kept up to you here somehow i think is a really big achievement.and yes i agree with the radial blur thing. that's why i dont even bother doing it anymore. like i said, im in the process of downloading CS2 right now. hope it works when it's finished though...wish me luck. again, thanks for voting for me ultra. i feel like a bastard now not doing the same again.

Speedster vs NTX

It's hard on me since I'm totally biased as I threw in this theme, therefore my vote was ony exclusively on who got closer to what I originally intended.
Therefore, NTX got my vote, although there are some flaws with the pic.
His tone usage is great as always, the sense of action too, but the car seems to have been pasted on that pic, when you enlarge it - not noticeable on the thumbnail - like it wasn't there when the BG shot was taken.
Speedster's is a good pic, but the fact that doesn't show any (imo) limit-boundaries make it automatically drop on the vote count, at least it did for me. Also, the fact that the M3 GTR is close-up and not clean is a downer for what it could be a great pic.

Moglet vs Drift

Voted for Moglet's after looking at both very hard for a very long time, both are awesome, same pro's same con's, nothing wrong with any of them, the most difficult decision of them all. Probably the car choice made it for me.

jgda9rs vs Ultra

Voted for Ultra's shot (got it? :sly: ) because of the in-your-face feeling to it, like the weaker guy shoulder to shoulder with the big man, very impressive. Only thing about it I didn't quite enjoy was the noise, specially on both windshields.
jgda's shot has a very cool, moody and "contemplate-me" feeling to it, with awesome tone usage, but the fact that the underdog is behind and the other two cars are somewhat far away, not recognizable at first glance, don't (at least for me) make me feel that there's not much difference in power there.

Dman vs Minicooper

Another theme I threw in, so I had a pre-conceived idea of what I wanted to see.
Voted for Dman's, since it shows the car part a lot more clearly, although it needed still some clean-up, which would make it an amazing shot for the theme.
Mini's shot is actually a bit closer to what I originally imagined, but the fact that there's not much car bits to look at, since it's a dark pic, easily distracts you and doesn't grab as much attention as it would. Very nice close-up pic, nevertheless.

That's it.
The above written is just what I think, so I expect no one to take it personally - I wasn't harsh with anyone, I hope - because I was out on the 1st round, so who am I to criticize?
It's just my opinion.

All great works! 👍

I really mucked my entry up didnt I? But I did think it showed a form of a limit maybe not a limits you would think of but it is a limit as the car is struggling to get past the other car vice versa. Yes the close up is rubbish I tryed to clean it but it all went wrong I know which bit you are on about though. I feel like a dimbo :dunce:

You're totally right about the limit-form used, you had your own interpretation of what the theme meant to you, just like other people would have their own if they had that theme to work on.

But I don't think you "mucked" your entry like you said, it's just a question of personal preferences really.

speedster vs. NTX:
HAd to vote NTX for the awesome cleanup and beauty of the shot, but if speedster hadn't had a rather dull shot, I wouldn't have voted for NTX. YOu see, I think his shot is vey unbalanced, like it's comepletely tipped over and makes you ignore the part of the pictures that are the best. ALthough I automatically clicked the button next to NTX, it wasn't as good as it could have been, not even close. speedsters was far better in terms of balance, angle, etc, but lacked any bright interest that reached out and pulled you in. I'm still wondering if I made the right choice on this one.

Drift vs Mog:
Moglets looked very shiny, but a little dark, like a sunset. Drift2XS had a great shot color wise, but the pic itself looked like it came out of TDU. Both are amazing shots and both would deseve to go to the finals if they could. Not much else to say really, it's still back and forth...

jgda vs Ultra:
Ultrashot had a nice angle, but wasn't as bright or colorful as I would have expected. Still, I can't say it's a bad shot, because it definately expressed the theme very well. jgda9rs had a nice angle as well, but I didn't really like the tint too much. Also, at first glance I thought the cars were coming from the right, and the Black supercar had slid off to the left side. Upon closer inspection I see the Silvia was drifting, but it isn't so obvious at first.

me vs Dman:
Well, I didn't vote in this category, but I think dman's is slightly better because of the brightness and color, but I still think there could have been more reds and oranges in there to make it interesting. I tried to do that in mine, with a red/orange sky, and a blue car with light blue glowing lights. Still, mine is very dark (mainly to hide the awful textures on the bumper and fenders, and the wheel which I had trouble blurring) THe darkness also helped focus on the lights, and how they are related to the sun up in the sky. I felt my picture was more balanced, but dman definitely is better in almost every other area. 👍

Well, Drift is currently ahead by 1 vote. I just realised that had I not voted for his entry (I vote for my opponents by default for every round of the tournament) we would still be level!

Bugger...lol.

Maybe there should be some rule about it so someone doesn't win just because they didn't vote for their opponent. I see dman and I both decided not to vote in our category, so I can't blame my failure on that :( ;)

did you try adjusting the rate as well as opacity? i really dont care about radial speed blurs so, ive never tryed it.

If someone comes a tie with their opponent (or one vote ahead) I will check to see if the winner (or both users) have voted for their opponent. So really, votes like that do not matter, but It's just a nice thing to do. 👍

I finally got around to voting.

Speedster vs NTX

I agree with what others have said, this them is really well suited to NTX's style. So my vote went to him, I love the tone and colours.
Speedster has done a great job too, you are improving fast. 👍

Moglet vs Me

Wow, who would of thought that our pictures would look so similar. I am really pleased with how mine came out, I really appreciate all the votes too.
Of course my vote went to Mog's, can't be voting for myself. That puts him back in the lead. It is a superb shot, so clean and I like the colours.
If you end up winning Mog, I will be cheering for you and hope you make it to the finals. 👍

jgda9rs vs Ultra

I still can't get over how similar Ultra's shot is to mine and Mog's. Three shots looking so much the same. Spooky. :D
jgda9rs got my vote, I am a sucker for drift shots. I really like the red tone too. Ultra did an awesome job as always, but it didn't capture me as much as jgda9rs entry.

Dman vs Minicooper

Both great entries, and both focusing on the lights of the car. Dman got my vote though, I love the contrast between the red and black. I also prefer the over all colour of Dman's shot compared to Mini's. Very nicely captured too.
Minicooper did a great job too, I think this was the toughest decision.

Everyone did a superb job on their entries, I look forward to seeing what the results will be. Good luck to everyone. :)

Finally some one who actually appreciates my effort although you didint vote for me. But if I was a voter I wouldnt vote for me. I am just cleaning a picture of Kents Honda Accord and it fits the theme much more than that picture. I am sooo losing.

Me and Mog are tied once more, this sure is a interesting battle. Who will take the win?
When does the poll end anyway?

speedster: You did well to make it to the second round, and you are improving rather fast. Just keep taking photos and you will get better. 👍
I just watched that Top Gear episode with the Reliant Robin, great episode.
Mmmmmm, I loved that Ferrari F430 in blue.

Indeed, speedster, you have no idea what kind of a n00b I was 6 months ago, just keep updating, practising and you'll get there 👍

Thanks guys especially you Ultrashot you give me confidence to carry on.

Well, it looks like I'm out this round after all.
It's sort of good actually because I'm concentrating more on my actual photography lately and most of my time is dedicated to that these days. :)

Thanks to everyone who voted though!

Looks like I'm done too, unless 17 people vote for me...
Ah well, it was fun, and it managed to pull some better shots out of me thaat I didn't know I could take. Good luck dman in the next round! 👍

Only 1 vote difference between mog and drift
I guess both shots are equally good no matter who wins at last
well done guys ~

i feel the same way as you. i'm actually surprised to have been able to keep up to Ultrashot in the closing stages. goodluck to everyone in the next round!!

Ohh, damn that there were a few close rounds there. Well done to everyone on their mighty fine efforts 👍

Thought I would lose this round from the start I had no hope. Well done everyone who participated. I am out good luck to NTX i nthe next round. But I feel like I have learnt an important lesson in photography through this tournement. It is never say to someone (jacoja07) that you cannot be bothered to go take a new photo. That is what happend to me and look how much I lost by. Good Luck I will be watching the rest of this competition intently.

Wow, can't believe I won by just one vote. That was an intense battle. I am sure the next round will be very tough looking at the competition.
Everybody did a superb job on their shots, good luck to all who made it through to the next round. 👍
