Im not into anything in particular Glanza.
We have been off roading when we owned a 4WD, yes it was great fun and thrilling but I said nothing about the enjoyment of the ride, simply the looks that I dont like.
As far as looks go - I'm someone that likes something that nobody else really has. The classic full-size-Jeeps (FSJ's) are very rare here in the US, especially the Cherokee Laredo in the late 80s, when they went to the XJ (small squarebody) Cherokee.
As far as what they look like, it's pure function. Long hood for the engine, 4x4 and boxy to convey strength and protection in a visual manner. You don't really get that from say.. a Civic.. without knowing anything about either one. It really all depends on what you want in a vehicle. I love the German vehicles too; BMW 1-series (US spec 135i) and e46 3-series/M3 GTR. I love the semi-square body Benzes (late 90s-ish) too; I would love to take one and put a custom widebody on it; get it looking a little more GTR. I can
get into any vehicle really. I just won't be able to get into a Mustang or Civic.. the common vehicles you see every day modded or come in a million different special editions.
This being said - the last car I was looking at purchasing, a 1993 Celica AllTrac Turbo (ie - GTfour); I wasn't sure which way I wanted to go - Rally or Street/JDM. I've never been into any other Japanese imports.. everybody else does that. I like different, and bold. Jeep and Dodge do that for me.
For the most part the thrill of a Jeep is .. literally, if not legally, being able to go just about
anywhere you want to, within reason.. they
are the original Luxury SUV, and the original SUV, before the term was coined.
These are trucks that will NEVER see dirt.
Jeeps are more likely to be driven off-road just because of the nameplate. We do it in our 4x2 Jeep Patriot every now and then.. and it's fun; a jeep is built to go off-road without ever having to be modified. They're purpose-built.
