What's it like to see the world as Famine does? Also don't get carried away, I don't want to see another picture this time next year looking like Christian Bale in The Machinist!

Nice. Where did you go? On an offtopic, my girlfriend and I are trying to learn German as we want to live in Hamburg. Very difficult.

Here I am enjoying an ok pint of Guinness at the Hard Rock Cafe, Dundas Square, Toronto. They just don't really know how to pour it here.

Cool! Hang into it! Actually I think German and English are in many cases very similar, so it's doable!👍
Why do you want to move by the way?

Oh and here a bit off-topicness, it's a copy of another thread I posted about my trip...

My trip for those who want to know where I was...:sly:

I love my prescription sunglasses, but when your sight is as poor as mine it does mean you have to carry your normal glasses round as well otherwise you look a tool indoors.

I do. Driving in the day and entering a car park is always a hassle, since I have to have both glasses out at any time. Thankfully the sunglasses aren't that dark and since I've used normal ones during the day for so long, I don't have much of a problem with it.

The Machinist? No way! Doesn't the guy drive a Firebird in it? No match for my lean-mean-performance-machine hi-toned SOB in the form of a 1991 Mitsu Galant

I love the look, but it kind of reminds me of something Elton John would wear.

Don't go breakin' my heart!

Elton John would wear Diego.

And a nice fit it wouldn't be.

Some of my friends are moving to Hamburg convinced it is the best city in the world. Have to see it for myself. Plus my girlfriend and I are in the difficult position of needing to go somewhere we can both get work Visas for. I met her in Toronto. I'm from Scotland, she's from Japan. It's really easy for her to get a visa for Germany, likewise, all I need to do is show up at the border with my passport. The beauty of the eu eh?

That looks amazing. Such a beautiful country.

You need a passport? :odd:

Pretty sure I hopped, skipped and jumped from France to Spain last summer :D

1. Best city in the world? Well, actually, I only heared positive things about it too, so yeah, it sure is an interesting city to live in. Oh and then, I believe, you and I are living no further than 250 km away from each other hehe.

2. It's ok I think, the pictures show pretty much the typical German landscape.

Maybe not, but seeing as how we're both in Canada right now, I'll be taking my passport anyway.

I remember a girl I met from Bonn asked me why I wanted to live in Germany. I told her some reasons and she said "Well Germany really isn't much better a place to live in than Britain... Where in Germany do you want to go?" I said Hamburg and her reaction was brilliant. "Well yeah, Hamburg is amazing". I also have a few good friends from Berlin who would welcome us there.

You only need a passport if you go from UK to Spain, it doesn't matter if you go from France to Spain even if you are British citizen.

Get educated fool! [/MrT]

My mistake. I've always flown and regrettably never driven around europe. Given the choice, I'd take it anyway. It is kind of ironic that I need to take a passport to spain when it has one of the worst cities for pickpocketing I've ever been to. Everyone I know who has been to Barcelona has been pickpocketed there. Except coincedentally, my friend who is originally from there and his sister who I used to go out with.

Although personally, the worst place I've been to was kavos in corfu. I spent the summer there and bought an old beat up motorbike. Had a great time, but I think over the course of the summer I was robbed of about 400 euros.

I've never been ID'd leaving Britain by boat (France or RoI). Do you get ID'd on Eurotunnel?

My friend was in Italy a few years ago working for the summer and lost his passport. He had to travel to an embassy and pay over 100 euros for a temporary, single use passport. If what you say is true, he'd be kicking himself as the trip to get the temporary passport cost him over 200 plus the cost of his flight.

Seems he could have just jumped on a bus.

Obv' you'll need a passport if you fly, and you'll need it if trying to enter the UK by any means.

But once on Europe you may be required to have ID available but not neccesarily to cross borders within the EU.

You need a passport to leave the UK, irrespective of your mode of transport. The last time I drove out of the country, there was a man in a booth at the Eurotunnel who required to see our passports, but going from France to Belgium to Holland didn't require any ID.

Just about to walk down the hill (30%) to Robin Hood's Bay.

So if you need a passport to enter the uk, what was the point bringing up this whole "You don't need a passport to go to germany" topic? You'd still need to take it with you.

I guess nobody will check your passport if you're leaving the UK by train, do they? There are no borders within the European Union anyway, nobody will check your papers if you travel by car or train - except if you're being held up by random police checks.

Had to do this.

At the time, all I could think of is this.

Why do people wear plad? It doesn't make you look cool or "ganster".

It makes you look like a gay lumberjack, :ouch: not that I have anything against being gay or being a lumberjack. Putting the two together will end in an awkward result.

Seriously? I don't get the point, why in the world are all the hipsters and youth wearing plad?

Thanks. 👎 Gay Lumberjack? I'm not trying to look cool or Gangster. As it happens, it's actually a tartan variety which is a tribute to my native country, Scotland.
I think an apology is in order. That was totally out of line.

Why do people call themselves "Terminator" and have avatars of the Tour de France? It doesn't make you look like Arnold or a "cyclist".

It makes you look like a futuristic killing machine sent back in time for one lucky bike race in France...I have nothing against futuristic killing machines, or bike races in France, but putting the two together always ends in an confusing and awkward confrontation.

Seriously, he's wearing plaid, get over it. I wear plaid coats when I work on the farm and when I go to work in the winter. Does that mean I'm a "hipster and youth/gangsta wannabe"?

Start posting pictures of yourself so we can start dissing everything you wear, unless you really are the king of original, trend setting, wearing it before everyone else individual you make yourself out to be...

You're Canadian...all Canadians wear plaid flannel shirts over a Roots t-shirts.

What is it with you and gay people?

These posts, and the ones you've made in the homosexuality thread are somewhat curious. For someone who supposedly doesn't like when homosexuals are visible in the public eye and somewhat flamboyant, you're sure thinking about and bringing them up a lot.

You guys, calm down, where I live there are a bunch of youth causing trouble, or being an annoyance. I know they all wear black/red plad, it's a thing they do. I don't know about where you live, and maybe it's different, I'm sorry and I could've explained that.

And about the whole Tour de France/terminator stuff, I've had to put up with alot of that. I've never seen a terminator movies all the way through, nor do I like them. I just chose the name of the top of my mind, now simmer down.
