Do you Race?
If there was some way of restoring classic cars in the game, then maybe it would be OK, but when it comes to bolting on plastic bodykits that simply weight the car down, adding spinners and then posing some bikini-clad model for photos (girl gets more prominence than car), to me modifying cars goes down worse than a snifter of ouzo ...

Actually, most of the people in this thread, myslef included, are opposed to plastic body kits that do nothing. However, we are in favor of kits that have funtionalty, such as aerodynamic improvement, downforce increase, and better engine/brake cooling. We are against spinners, and the whole bling-bling side. We want to see functionality in modifications, but we are not against all modification. Just the useless, performance robbing ones. And yes, restoring classics is always a good thing.

But I've never had ouzo, so I can't say if it goes down badly or not :D

I's do as some other people say, at least put something like a re-spray shop in GT5 if you get bored of your color. That would be a nice touch :) . A wider selection of rear spoilers and maybe some aero kits would be cool too. And factory options, like a John Cooper Works Kit for a Copper S would be awesome . Nothing unessesary like underglow, car audio, hydraulics, or 30" wheels (yes, they do exist ) on a Subaru 360. That make the 360 even more atrocious than it already is :yuck: , IMO.

I am all for functional aero kits, lighter whees, bigger wheels to a certain extent because they can help with handling if you don't offset the gains with weight, and custmizable paint. Other then that lets keep the neon, and other stuff out of this game. I have nothing against someone doing that stuff to their car because it's their money but in a racing simulator it has no place. If it were a "show car simulator" it would be different.

Yes it's like most things, pro's and con's, but race cars generally use as big a set of wheels as they can either fit in the wells and allow enough suspension travel for the cars setup and are allowed to use since some motorsports restrict the sizes. In general terms, bigger is better but too big will result in the wheel scrubbing the wells and causing tyre damage.

Ever so slightly, we're taking the difference between a 20 degree track temperature and a 21 degree track temperature would have on you grip levels or along thoes lines. The biggest effect bigger wheels have is the speed to engine revs goes up, that is why GT race cars run on as big a set of wheels as they can, it also has the added benefit on road racing cars where the suspension is very stiff that it allows less air into the wells and thus less drag. It does have negative effects, acceleration and weight spring to mind but they are more often than not out done by the pro's. If you fit different sized wheels to your car you need your speedometer re-calibrating, because bigger wheels will mean your going faster that it says you are and smaller wheels slower.

how exactly to lambo doors decrease performance?

When was the last time you've seen an open door in GT4?

Maybe all cars in GT4 already have scissor doors fitted as standard but how would we know?
