I am withdrawing from this season and this series in general. I cannot force myself to race this late in the evening anymore. Just demands more of me than I have to give.
Understandable Josh, but we will miss you in the series. See you online though!

Sorry for the no-show tonight guys. I got a chance to babysit my Grandkids that I jumped on. I expected to be home long before race time, but it didn't happen. Just got home now. 23:00.
Wow, Lobban babysitting, now there's a scary thought! JK, glad you finally got to spend some time with them!

Sorry for the delayed reply, but that was an awesome post @FlipJ! Thanks for sharing your life experiences and how they eventually led you to sim racing and to SNAIL. I may have to join one of your practice sessions one of these days! Thanks for helping to keep the spirit of SNAIL alive and well.
Hey there my fellow "5er", nice to see you pop in here! We would love to have you join us for some practice/racing/tomfoolery. Assuming you have PS4 and PCars then?

Last night was interesting for sure. Race 1 was great, although I was surprised by the brake failure with five minutes to go. Race 2 was just bizarre with the weird antics going on just on the back straight. I think that has to be one of the strangest things to happen to me yet, one lap full speed and power, the next can't pull past 6G, then next lap fine again, but only at that particular place on the track.
Speaking of tracks, with F1 at Suzuka this weekend, made me think how much I miss having that track to race at. Hope PCars 2 adds it!
Congrats to the winners last night, and good to see @FlipJ and @Gr8_Lakes back in the action.

Rough day yesterday, colonoscopy, endoscopy, a long 24 hrs without food with a toilet marathon. Not fun at all.
I got a very rare chance to babysit my Grandkids last night. Now, that was fun. Sorry for missing the races, but, it was worth it. Their parents are splitting up, which is bad for them, but selfishly, it's good for me. I will get to see them much more often. Grandkids are the best.

Isn't Sakito a Suzuka copy?
It's close but not the same, just doesn't feel like Suzuka. Maybe they are not allowed to replicate it. It would be like slightly changing all the corners and elevation at Spa, it would just not be the same.

Agreed. It's a fun track, but it's just a fake version. I figure it's different enough to keep SMS out of court over it.

Good Morning Guys,

I made it home safe from my mandatory evacuation from Charleston SC with Hurrican Matthew ****ing ruining my vacation. So I am back early. I hope the race last night went well for everyone. I am sorry to hear that @Lessen is pulling out, but I will continue on as a D1 privateer for this season. I hope to see you on track again soon @Lessen. News Reports will continue starting Round 2 of the new season. See you guys on Friday for the final round of the current DTM season, for those of us who are participating.

Cheers!

Must be nice to have a young, hip grandpa. How old are the kids?

I was also going to ask the kid's ages Mike. I love to think of you with a couple little ones. I'm sure it's tons of fun for all of you. Believe it or not, I'd let you babysit my eight year old.

The kids are 10,7 and 5. And what little darlings they are. They take after Grandpa.

My son and I have had a tumultuous relationship for a long time. Him rightfully blaming me for my divorce from his Mom. Now he is going through his own divorce and he has seen the light that it takes two to tango and it's not always cut and dry. Bad for him, good for me.

There's not many things that will keep me from racing, but, looking after my Grandkids will take precedence every time.

Cheers to all and thanks for being there.

And by the way Bish, your daughter would have a blast.

I wish I could like this three times!
First because grandkids are the tits (I don't have any yet) and Lobban as the cool grandpa is super funny to imagine.
Second because I can relate to what your son is going through. It's easy to assign blame when you're young, but once realisation hits, it's crow eating time, because you figure out that life is a complicated mess and usually it's impossible to say who's fault it is truly.
Third because I had the same thing happen to me when my daughter was born and I finally understood that all the BS I complained and fought about with my mom and dad was me being a dumbass and they trying their best to do what they thought was right. It's a sobering moment and it was a great feeling to tell them that I loved them and that I finally understood that they were right, even when they were wrong, and I was a stupid kid that thought I knew everything and knew nothing.

Finally, I'm happy for you, Mike. Family is the most important thing in life and tumultuous relationships that get sorted out are a blessing.

Now back to sheep buggering jokes for you...

Glad to hear you're reconciling with your son. My relationship with my father became strained when he didn't show much interest in having a close relationship with my son. The year my son was born he moved to Florida by himself, bought a Harley and a new Stingray, and now we haven't spoken in a few years. Hopefully he shares your enthusiasm for his only grandchild some day. Good for you for recognizing what treasures grandkids can be. You rock, you hip grandpa!

Hang in there Mike, and do all you can to repair the relationship with your son,I didn't even meet my father until I was 16 years old, needless to say we don't have much of a relationship,I vowed to never do that to my kids or grandkids, which I haven't,so good for you for being there, much respect brother

Saw this NSX yesterday!

Wait, you were racing with a controller??
If so, mad mad respect.
Yes sir, today was the first time I used a wheel. I have clamped to a TV dinner table. It is taped down and I'm using a foldable chair. I need to save up for a rig lol

I built a ghetto one for myself for next to nothing. Works beautifully and I love having things that made.
But I used a wheel tied to a chair for the longest time...

I'm using a t150
You'll have to ask the Thrustmaster guys for wheel set up help, though the wheel set up through PCars is fairly straight forward. I use a G29. I built a rig for a flying buddy who bought a T150, I tried it out and it's a decent wheel. If you can find a used set of G27 pedals it would make a huge difference.
Happy wheeling!
