with gas prices rising as they are b/c of bush, you should by a Prius. 50mpg ain't bad. plus, its the nicest-looking electric/hybrid car. (which says a lot )

Ok, Ok, i got it ///M you need a 1971 Mercedes 280SE (i think that's the right model). You can pick one up fully restored, show room quality for about 15G's. They've got a nice inline 6 with mechanical fuel injection( hate to have to work on that though), at least a 3 body trunk, and a nice roomy interior. Not to mention they are a sweet, classic looking car. Room for the family, smooth ride, and good pick up for a boat. (I know because my dad had one for a while, i loved that car, but neither of us could afford the resto. )

While I appreciate the comments, guys, its a moot point now. I've already put my deposit down and ordered the ZHP. Heck, its already been built and it just waiting on the long boat ride across the Atlantic. I pick it up in about 3 weeks.

Yeah, it is. And the Celica is probably more of a 'ricer'. I mentioned the 'Benz because it is a classy car. And it's old. I think it's oldness(classic'ness) precedes it's Yankee'ness. Look, if gas was .99 a gallon, i would have a '90 IROC with Holley SuperCharger! But the celica is also something i can rely on to be dependable for years to come. And because i'm under 25 and will be paying for the car for the next 4 years, i will not rag it out. So it should last: it's an investment.

I think she drives the Porsche Truck, but I'm not sure. Somebody certainly drove it today and it wasn't me. Even a Saab 9-3 (any of them) is better than a 330i. Actually, the only things in that class worse are the C320, S40 and S40 LSE, X-Type 2.5, S60 base, and C240. I'd rather have a Jetta GL 1.8T than a 330i. So take that.

Did you look at Saab or Volvo? You should've. I raced a 9-5 Aero wagon today and I beat the guy. Problem was, I needed to be in his lane so I actually missed my turn. So he got the last laugh. Well, actually, I'll get the last laugh because I won't be the one getting raped when it comes time to resell. "What do you mean it's worth $4000? I bought it two years ago for $40000! I had this exact same problem with my Cadillac Cimarron!"

Plus, with a wagon he's probably got small children or bicycles or small deer or something, so I'm cooler.

Sorry bud. Already have a Jetta 1.8T. Its a GLS.

You can't lump the Volvo 850R, Saab 9000 Aero, 2003-2004 Saab 9-3 Aero, Saab 9-3 Viggen, and Volvo S60R 6-speed in a class with the rest of the Volvos and Saabs. They're meant to be driven hard. And I've driven each of them, and they all are cooler than any 330i (but some of them aren't cooler than the Jetta GL 1.8T).

The 9-7X, which looks like a Trailblazer LS (I know they share the platform, but at least change the styling), has the key on the transmission tunnel. Why bother? It's the same vehicle except for this one minor point. I like the Cayenne because it's cool, but a Swedish company who makes quick sedans taking an SUV built for America is just stupid. I hope it fails, then Saab fails, then GM fails, then the entire motor industry fails and we all ride around on horses. 👍

Finally got some pics of the ZHP. I picked it up last weekend in Jacksonville. Very pleased so far with the car. The Alcantara interior is awesome. Handling is even better than my old M3 sedan in many ways, and the car is refined and smooth in a way no E36 can dream of being. Still being gentle due to the break-in period. 750 miles and counting.

Thanks again to folks dropping in with a suggestion. Especially to you guys pushing me to get the Bimmer. 👍

GO: 15% stiffer front springs, 9% stiffer rear springs; car sits about 1/2 inch lower compared to regular Sport Package 330i. Retuned shocks. M spec cams that are more aggressive and retuned ECU for extra 10 hp. Higher redline (6,800). Beefier clutch. Short throw shifter. Shorter 3.07 rear gear (but no LSD ). M3 sized wheel and tires (225/40-18 F, 255/35-18 R). My car came with Potenza RE040s, but could have also come with Pilot Sports or SportContact2s.

SHOW: M front air dam with huge brake ducts, M rocker panels, M rear bumper with faux diffuser. Retuned, louder muffler. Standard Alcantara interior with strangly cool looking 'metal cube' trim. Oh yea.. um.. red M style needles in the instrument cluster.

Its a pretty comprehensive package. Feels like a totally different car than the regular 330i Sport... much closer to an M3, just down 100 hp.

Thanks man. Break-in period is the first 1250 miles, during which you are supposed to drive more or less like my mother. I'm showing about 920 today. The car is sounding better and better each day as the pipes loosen up. Last night I got a little four wheel drift action doing at least 5-6 mph quicker than the old M3 can manage. I'm loving this thing. These RE040s are pretty sweet tires.

Hmmm.. by the time I get to Colorado, I'd be done with break-in.

But starting Saturday, I will be on vacation in Tybee Island, GA. 👍 So I'll catch ya next time.
