This update sounds interesting and i wonder, will these be communities on forums and stuff? If so, it sounds interesting as it could reduce griefers...

First post btw! :D

I'm curious about this too. I think there will have to be a few things included to make this functional as Kaz stated:
  • An Event Maker is essential. How else are you going to string together a list of tracks for a series or championship and apply rules and restrictions to them? And I'd think some sort of rewards for finish placement.
  • The Performance Point system will have to be refined.
  • Along with a wide variety of race cars included in GT6, I'd think Race Mod and a Livery Editor would be pretty crucial.
  • Along with all that, tools for creating and maintaining clubs and leagues would be necessary. As you say, lobbies and other community features, as well as code to support membership and rankings, as well as things like sharing and trading.
We should get a pretty good idea of what's involved in E3 and Gamescom.

Has someone who has run a club in a certain other game, I can say with certainty that unless there is some kind of serious in-game support for a feature reassembling a forum, having your own is practically a must for any serious club.

Some get away with using a single thread on the certain game's website, but has soon has you get into running events, and/or start building up a membership, it really becomes a pain if there isn't a club website, with a well run forum supporting things.

Clubs are also quite a bit of work when going beyond the casual, "just for fun", not really organized level. Having good people helping out goes a long way, and it will be interesting to see what kind of tools and features PD provides to aid in administration/organization.

That said, it'll have to be set up really well, with good support, to even get me interested in starting a GT6 club. I'm not kidding when I say running a club can be allot of work.

I don't even have time for a regular racing schedule, so I feel your pain NA. I think like what we saw in Prologue and GT5, this is going to be one of those systems that are a prelude to the tools in GT7 on PS4. And with the well earned complaining over what we were given in GT5, I expect something fairly mature and not too difficult for GT6.

I can't see them even bringing it up if they weren't well on their way to having something solid and functional, because this is a huge request from the fans, and PD has thousands of examples from shooters and other racers to learn from.

Hopefully PD implement a community feature on their website where people can organize racing schedules and such...
