Hey everyone. I have a video game blog and I'm a HUGE GT fan. I gave this game a 9/10 on my blog b/c I love the cars from previous GT games, the audio is great, and I LOVE having GT in my backpack on the train to work.

I was wondering if everyone could give their rating opinion on GT PSP. A scale of 1-10 should suffice (1 being horribly bad, and 10 being one of your favorite games ever). What does everyone else think??? Any thoughts for improvement, aside from the lack of career mode? Though somewhat limited I really like the way this game is thrown together to keep me coming back for more...

brayn21- 9/10 👍

7/10, other than collecting cars once you get done with the missions and getting "S" on every track there is nothing to do.

Don't get me wrong it's a great game and worth buying, it just has a sort of empty feeling.

6/10 for me... What's there ranges from good to superb, but what's missing (career) really kills the game in the long run for me... like Justin... the game feels empty fast.

Yeah, I can see where you guys are coming from.

So since career mode is what's missing, how would you prefer to see it done? Like every other GT game, or some sort of new twist?

I was always happy with previous career modes... I mean if they can add anything to make it better, great! But I just want some structure and something to lengthen the experience... something to give value to the lower class cars (ie D class races where you MUST do it in a low class car to earn the win). Basically for me the whole game can be broken down to:

1: Grind up some credits to buy a Veyron

2: Race every course over and over until you S class them.

3: All you have left now is to try to top your high score drifting.

Put in GT4s career mode and I would be more than happy.

Yeah, it does seem a bit too easy when you use a super car. I really like your idea of lower class races that force you to use certain cars, or classes of cars. I'm also a big fan of the GT4 career mode. Sure you COULD use a super car to smoke lots of higher class races, but the lower grade ones still require specific cars.

I kind of like the idea of using licenses (like GT4) but also unlocking harder difficulty tracks only after beating lots of the lower level races. I think a combo of those 2 ideas would work really well.

GT 2 had lots of funny special category races which required specific cars, or eras of car (muscle, etc). I think a bit of a throw back to that, along with your GT4 idea would go a long way. And you also made a good point about high scores. Online play or possibly leader boards would be really nice to have. I'm sure GT5 will have this as Prologue did.

I'm somewhere between 6/10 and 7/10 as well. A good game for the PSP, but it could easily have been much better with some minor changes, as described above: some sort of career more and more tuning options.

Have any of you ever played the GT games that were only released in the UK and Japan? I have 2 for my PS2 (which I modified to play PAL and JPN games). They had similar fake career modes were certain tasks unlocked certain cars, and then you got lots of credits (like with GT5 prologue). What did you guys think of that set up? I know it's not as deep as a GT4 career, but this might lend more life to a PSP title. Maybe Polyphony could release an update later with more challenges or something like this?

8/10. I would like to see more (or different) tuning options, since the most important ones are missing. And screw career mode, I'd rather have proper online matches (not requiring some crappy beta Ad-Hoc client on the PS3), that would increase longevity much more than a career mode. 👍 Other than that, it's a pretty solid game.

Cool. That's also a good point. Better online play would make this game last much, MUCH longer. That's one thing I was really surprised about, the lack of online capability. I figured bare minimum PD would support leader boards. The ad hoc thing is a really odd choice. I guess this game was meant to be more of a stepping stone to GT5?

8/10, amazing acheivement for PD and PSP, lots of fun. Plus great investment for GT5.

There is definitely something missing, but I don't think a traditional style GT game is it. I think a special event for each track would have been money. I need some incentive for unlocking S on most of the tracks, and a track specific race that yielded a prize car would be it.

Yeah online would have been a big plus... I think the adhoc party almost as much a PS3 sales ploy as it is a GT5 sales ploy. Not so much in that you would buy a PS3 for it, but rather than it's a value you could use to justify buying a PS3 (even though really you shouldn't need a PS3 for it).

But considering a lot of people play GT outside of wifi range, I think career is something that shouldn't be overlooked.

Yeah, it does seem a bit too easy when you use a super car.

Semi-off topic, but I disagree there haha. Whether I'm in an Enzo or an FTO, the AI keeps the same gaps on me in that class. But it's way easier to make mistakes flying around in an Enzo, and therefore more difficult to win with it. So I guess adding to the discussion, I realized that the silly RBE has probably hurt my experience more than I thought.

I also should mention that an English version of Ad Hoc Party would have helped my feeling toward the game. I can use the Japanese beta, but wtf.

Damn, I dont think I spent any time in GT4 Career mode then what was required to get 100% (Thank you B-spec Bob, those Enduros were NOT happening on my system with me driving. The amount of Pause time + actual race time, I wouldn't put my PS2 through.

However I beat GT4 in around 2 months, siply playing to beat it when I had time to play.

The next few YEARS of playing I never saw any Career mode, except to run DTM races for cash/car rewords.

The rest was in time trials.

I'm glad there is a wide variety of ways to make cash ;)

Once all is done, simply collecting cars and running TT is enough for me.

I'm grateful to have Gran Turismo in my Pocket, Hell the reason I bought a PSP was to play GT PSP...

I'd give it a 6.75 out of 10.

Obviously... a lack of a career mode, a lack of ability to tinker with the internals of the car (such as gear ratios), too much seam tearing and other graphical issues, way too many slight variations of certain makes and models (we all know what those are), lack of tire wear (makes longer races not worth doing), no night or wet courses, 'rubber-banding' in the single player races (you can turn it off for the multiplayer races), and only up to four cars per race (the 'TOCA/Race Driver/V8 Supercars/DTM' series for the PSP had up to 21 cars at the same time; and 12 player Ad-Hoc races).

Oh yeah, it would have been nice to have some type of a photo mode. Either like in GT4 or the ability to pause a race and take a screen shot via the pause menu.

Sinister makes a great point. B-spec was MUCH NICER than having to drive endurance races until the cows come home. I sure how they keep that in GT5.

Fredzy also makes a great point that the AI keeps you in check. However, in GT4 you could race super cars against some really slow competition, which hurts the experience. GT PSP does a much better job of pairing you with like competition. That part I really like. Cuz whether I'm in a Lupo Cup Car or the aforementioned Enzo I have to be on my game.

In the end, I guess it's safe to say that the individual grade of satisfaction with GT:PSP depends on how every single person liked to tackle GT4. One who liked to do races in GT mode and to tune cars will not be very satisfied, while one who mainly used arcade mode and did time trials will probably like GT:PSP quite a lot.

Well put. Someone in another thread talked about "horrible cars" vs the driver's driving style. Personal preference or plan of attack goes a long way.

8/10 for me. This is pretty much everything I could ask for in a portable Gran Turismo title. I certainly wish there were sets of predefined race series in the single player portion (not necessarily a career mode, just a set of races or series with strict limitations), and that the quicktune was as extensive as GT5P's.

8/10

For a portable version I think the lack of a career mode would have been acceptable if it didn't take so long for it to come out. I am hoping that someone would create challenges that could simulate a career mode. No prize cars is a little disappointing, then again it seemed that all the prize cars I wanted in GT4 were really hard to get. Lack of gear ratio tuning bugs me, especially when running an older car on the Nurburgring and you are bouncing off the rev limiter before halfway down the straight. Then again, the RBE would kind of negates any advantage or disadvantage you could gain from changing the gearing. It just breaks me heart to hear that poor old Alfa screaming at redline and there is another km to go on the straight.

I guess my biggest complaint would be the RBE, but without it I would really want the ability to change the gearing.

I give it 9/10

i don't find it too Bad that there isnt a career Mode, its Perfect for me to Pick up my psp no matter where i am and di some races with different cars in different Tracks! Last Time i spent about 3 hours just doing Drag races with all types of cars (i drive with à Car to à specific Point And get in throttle ob à specific time...- than i Safe that As à Ghost replay And have Fun in comparibg cars :) )

have bought nfs Shift in its Release Abs was pretty happy with it, but since gt psp i Never Player it again, gt psp for me is still one of the Best Racing Game! Especially i Love the huge improved Physics, very plausible And Fun to drive!

Sorry for some Big Ketzers, i Write with an iPhone And it does that automatically!

9/10 because since I got it, it hasn't left my psp, so I think its good enough though more tuning options would've been great.
