I bought the disc and a PS4 the other day. Not gonna touch it until next month (Exams).

What I want to know is will we be able to get DLC if we don't have PSN+ and also the common question here of what won't we get?

I wish things were like the PS3 :( Where online was free and if you wanted perks and the latter then you'd get PSN+

You really only need PS+ to play online, but downloading a game or its DLC and the like is fine and free. Think about the F2P games that Sony dosen't charge people for to play online.

Mind you, PS+ if you can afford it is well worth having. Not every account on the PS4 needs to have it to play the games that come free.

Reason why I am desperately waiting for the Plus Edition of the game. Once I have it, I can unlock the rest of the content for a fraction of the price.
Being a PS+ member, plus the fact I already have £10 in my wallet means I only have to top up £25 to purchase a game with a £60 retail value.

Plus, there's the need for a racing game on PS4. Aside from NFS Rivals, there's nothing else right now.

With that said, does anyone have any piece of news regarding the PS+ Edition? The only "official" thing said so far is that it's being held back...but, that's about it. Being held back. Does this means days, weeks, months even? It's all very vague and nothing new is being told about this, which makes it all more frustrating.

Not news as such (I just checked their FB page which hasn't been updated today) yet the servers were behaving a lot better since last night. I still couldn't get into any online matches, but challenges were popping up all over the place and the leaderboards were working, mostly.

I don't think it'll be long now befor the PS+ version gets released from the hold, certainly not weeks or months.

That's good to know. Just knowing things are improving and the PS+ edition is still within reach, it makes me feel slightly less frustrated.

It's also good to read a reasonable and understanding comments (such as yourself) because all I've been getting thus far is the usual noise of people constantly nagging about how the game has failed and it's mediocrer.
I wish I could filter the entire Internet and just get the comments from people like you.

Ahh, you are too kind - some here would call me a fanboy or somesuch for my views  I do agree that the internet is a wearying place at times, for precisely the same reasons.

I really hope for you that the PS+ version gets let loose into the wild very soon. I buckled just before release day, so bought the PS+ upgrade pack and have had a lot of fun in the full game since...despite the connectivity.

I would say, take the plunge and just go straight for the upgrade, but I'm always nervous about recommending something unless I know someone well, because not every game will suit the taste of everyone. It is however an arcade styled racer that has some damn impressive atmosphere, some annoying AI (at times) but I and a few others here have had no problems going back over the career races.

Latest update from the team mentions PS Plus edition. But only states they'll let us know about it soon.

We are still also working hard to get the PS Plus Edition of DRIVECLUB out as soon as possible and hope to update you on this soon.
So...nothing new really.

You can download the ps plus 'upgrade' for the discounted price now. I thought you had to wait for the psplus version to get the extra. I had pre-ordered the PS Plus upgrade and it downloaded on launch and is the full game, just at the discounted price.

I've already finish this game, it was a blast. You have no time to watch planes go fly by, or racing with a train. In DriveClub to win the race you have to push from start to finish.

So fast, so addicting. The engine sounds are just awesome. And with G27 wheel game is really something out of this world. I can't wait when they finally fix on-line lobbies especially challenges, because those are not working still until now.

But if you wan to play only free Ps+ edition it's just not worth it to limit your experience. Just purchase full version. You won't regret it. Drive Club is hands down racing game of the year.

Can you please tell me how to get the G27 working with the PS4? I have read everywhere else on the forum that Logitech do not work on the PS4. I would love to know as it will save me having to wait until my Thrustmaster gets here. Thank you.

Thanks to little device called CronuxMAX. What it does it lets you connect any controller to PS3, PS4, X360 and XboxOne.

XInput_howto.png

This is the schematic showing how it's all connected. G27 is connected not to PS4 directly but to PC. Then PC is connected to CronusMAX that picks Wheel signals from PC and inputs them to PS4.

Only drawback is Wheel does not have Force Feedback, because DS 4 does not have it, only rumble effect is possible. But That's only cons i can find.

This device maps all buttons and transfers them to wheel So you playing using any wheel you can have, any Logitech any Fanatec wheel but game console thinks your are using DualShock 4, or 3, Or X360 pad or Xbox One. It depends which game console you are using.

ohhh by the way. CronusMAX cost 55$, it's better deal then buying new wheel for 600$. And guys who make this device are aware about PS4 - Logitech wheels incompatibility so they are working on full Force Feedback for this wheel. It should be included in next firmware update.

Small cos for not swapping your current wheel to T300RS which is cheap, two pedals, no clutch = it's a joke for a price heavily overpriced T500RS.

Ha, I already guessed you use that. Cool to see some first hand impressions. Is there lag with so many devices an extra layer of software involved?

There is no lag. Not even a slightest bit.

There is one thing that for first minutes of playing was bothering me. It was lack of Force Feedback because it allowed you to feel the car. But after like one hour of playing i got use to really light wheel in my hands that wasn't given me any resistance. And hands down it's completely new game for me. You can take corners so smooth it's almost magical.

All of your posts are written as if you'd get paid to write like this and try to sell the Cronus. Can you provide a video that shows G27 + Ps4 working with driveclub? I trust my eyes more than a post in a forum ;)

I know what you mean. I know Exactly but i'm not trying to sell or advertise CM. For more information about this device please go to official CM site and forum. There are numerous posts how to make G27 and Fantatec and Thrusmaster work with both next gen console. You can use G27 with Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2 and now with Drive Club. You can connect Xbox One controller to PS4 and use it, also PS4 with Xbox One.

For movie you can go on youtube too see how Fanatec Wheel and TX Racing Wheel both run with DriveClub.

This thread is about Plus version of the game, slightly it went off course by my mentioning G27 in my post. But i wouldn't be if hadn't use it.

I've heard in a future update FFB might be supported, if they do that I'm buying it and Project CARS, there is hardly a wheel out there that is a bargain like my stellar G25, the idiots at Sony and Thrustmaster should know that.

Ideally they should be able to trick the PS4 into thinking it's talking to an authorised wheel, and have the PC convert the data to non-authorised wheels, but that would be a much bigger job.

Something new-ish has developed. Originally both the PS Plus edition and the app hAve been pushed back.
Today in a response regarding the app they say...

Soon - we're just holding it back while we improve server performance for everyone playing online.

More of the same.

Why do I think that when they release the PS+ edition the situation will again change to a big mess as thousands of new players get into the game?

They took almost A WHOLE EXTRA YEAR to "improve" the game and they weren't able to release a fully functional version.
For example, the weather change and the photo mode will be in patches to be released later. Not even talking about the "server bugs/issues" which have been plaguing the game since launch.

What have they done during that extra year? Have they hired goats or any other animals to finish the programming and implement the online functions?

What a shame...

I think I won't buy this game. I'll try the PS+ version first, well, if they release it one of these days.

G27??? The Logitech wheels aren't supposed to be compatible (even though I'm 2013 it was announced ALL wheels would be)?

Isn't there a setting in the PS3 (PS4 probably has it too) that can brighten dark scenes? The twilight and sun blasting in my face are unbearable, just like the dark shadows were in MotorStorm.

No G27 does not have some chip that is required to work with PS4, that's why all that i call it hacking is necessary. But it works fantastically.

All i know about free psn version, is when it will be available to download, it will attract a lot of noob races. And online will suffer from it.

I think its a disgrace that the PS Plus edition hasn't been released. Its not a 'free' version; its a game that I've paid for, and have had promised, and advertised, to me. If they want to pull everything from PSN, then fine, but to still let people pay extra to get the game, shows that they obviously have no problem with new people putting load on the servers, as long as they pay a premium.

Personally, I have no idea how complex it is to design, then make a game - I do know it takes increasingly big teams of dedicated, extremely talented people to do so. So on balance, I don't think they were sitting around all day, or anything of the kind.

Any idea when the Season Pass prices are coming about? Seems like it's solid DLC so I think I may get it but it's dependent on the price.

I dropped R900 for the disc. For those that stay elsewhere 50 pounds and USD$81.... That's how much games are in South Africa.... Let me not even talk about the price to import a T300RS with full kit.... If the DLC PAss is R300 then I wouldn't mind, anything over that then nope.

In the UK the season pass is already available for £19.99.
