Would you like to be able to create Custom Folders for your Garage?

That's, actually, my issue with it. I like to try out a lot of different cars one after another and the giant list is disorienting to scroll through.

Indeed, with the custom folders ability, it allows us to drive some cars which is always either on the bottom of the list or you get tried of scrolling through the list.

I am not asking PD to revamp the garage system if they find it hard to do, at least allow us to have to ability to create custom folders/tabs by using the current garage system. However, if they can come up with new garage system, it would be a great news :)

Voted ! 👍
Brilliant idea. Custom (owner modified = us :) ) folders would save so much time.
Nothing more frustrating (for a 52 y. o. ) than sorting through hundreds of cars, adjusting settings (to suit PP or whatever) and tearing off to the track........
To find you forgot to jump in the right car.

Separate folders may ease this frustration, enabling me to think straight. :)

Wow, I am really happy to see 210 votes to YES for supporting the "Custom Folder for the Garage" :)

Some people have come up with finer details for Garage options. 👍

Mr Kazunori Yamauchi or Polyphony Digital team please read this thread and at least considering implanting "Custom Folders" or something similar to our Garage.

Thank you :)

I think the longer this stays on top, the better, obviously. If you guys are serious about it.

It'll just improve the chances of them really noticing it if it is on top.

Which means if someone has any more decent ideas about the garage, you should post them here.

I bet PD has everything organized in several tabs in their GT5 test software, why not incorporate this feature into the game? Looking for 1 car ot of 450 can be a pain, I don't want to know what it's like for those poor souls with 1000+ cars!

Yes, awesome idea! :dopey:👍

And you should be able to select one folder as "Main" (the one which opens when you click on your garage tab). Sick of the loading times when I open my 1700+ (S) car tab.

I would create a folder for all tuned (settings) cars. Mark the cars as "Favourite" doesn't work, because you can mark only 100 cars. :indiff:

But don't get your hopes too high. You know PD. :D It isn't even possible to delete a DLC car, even if you have multiple of the same DLC car (purchased from the NCD). So I guess something like a custom folder for the garage is too much work for PD.

That's perfect!

I have 1,200 cars on one account and a few hundred on another... not to mention my "Delivery Truck" stares at me each day on my main account with 18 unopened tickets and growing (that would be nice to sort too)

Im scared to play online that I will jump in one of my 0/0/0 cars ruining it (though I could do a backup beforehand ~ but that just adds more of a pain)

I would like to have a "Folder" for nothing but my 0/0 cars. This is an awesome idea.

The only other thing I wish they would do is let you put AI in a 2 player race.... (sorry for that slip off topic but these are the only 2 things I think would be nice to clean up the game overall...at least the seemingly simple updates)

Indeed mate, this is what I intended to do. 👍

Would love a folder option,

as mentioned just being able to put cars to a easily accessible place so you can grab them quickly would be great 100 favourites just isnt enough. I know there isnt any point at keeping cars at 0-0-0 but I like to do it anyway so keeping these out of the main car ist would be sweet.

This would be an absolutely fantastic addition. A favorites list just isn't enough. I'd like a folder for stock street cars, LM racers, super GT, touring cars, drag cars, drift cars, and my collection of slightly built street cars. But that's just me :odd:

Indeed 👍
This is what I had in mind as well, ability to move the cars into a custom folders/groups.
I am pretty sure it is not hard to do, but I am not sure about the ps3 hardware side, maybe there is a limit of what ps3 can do, or maybe not.

custom folders like the spread sheet they gave us for each car. A/B/C then you can rename it. Something similar to those but as a whole garage. We want to be able to add new tabs/folders. then we also want to be able to rename the tabs/folders into our liking.

The game has came out just over a year now, they should also start thinking about the tiny details to improve the interface. (this might not be the same topic)
- Tidy up Seasonal Event interface, so it's not horizontal. Can be group into A Spec/B Spec...etc.
- Ability to access our custom garage under "Practice" not jumping all the way back to the main menu.
Those are just small tiny changes, but would impact greatly on the game play.

Hopefully, someone in PD team are actually going through the forum and picking up what their customers are actually wanting.

I actually have built a nice collection of my friend's/family's real-life autos in GT5.

I need a folder called "Research's Homies" hahah. Great post, OP- and I'd be willing to bet that this feature is coming soon. Let's keep it hot!

Anybody tried tweeting this to Kaz?

I tried it before but failed using google translator, I blame myself not been able to speak and write Japaneses properly.

We need a nice gentleman or lady who can write Japanese well and tweet on Kaz's wall. Anyone? :)

I tried the Speed Test yesterday (2.0.3) and found out we really need custom folder garage, and also a garage icon build into "Speed Test" and "Practice". That way we don't have to jump back out to the main menu and go through the garage (take a while) to find another car to test.
Because with "Speed Test" and "Practice" you simply just want to try out different cars and different setup. With those 2 options given to us will make all of us life a lot easier. results will be "fluent interface".

Hopefully Polyphony Digital Team will be able to see this tiny little post, otherwise we will be simply talking to ourselves.

This would save me so much time scrolling through cars. Love the idea.

indeed, even with the filter, you still have to scroll through the list of the cars you do not want to drive at the moment.
however, with the ability to customized our garage. we will know exactly where our car is in which folders/tabs

Not sure if PD has anything similar to this for us next patch :nervous:

I am just in about to save my main save to USB for retirement and then delete 3/4 of my garage because I'm totally sick of the loading times.

I spent over a year collecting all of the cars available and I honestly was so fed up with loading them that I wished I never had.

Folders would be a great idea to keep your garage less cluttered. Thing is GT5 already has defining parameters for every car in the game, notice that whenever you have a limited selection race all cars that are not within limits are not allowed. Simple thing would be to use that same interface to set up garages to make it easier to search for the correct car especially when you have relatively large garages. Cars have designations on them in the game; make, year, class, weight, power, drivetrain, PP...these can be used to create user defined folders. Just select which you want GT to classify the folder as and it should automatically put cars that fit the parameters you chose. Just like the search function but instead allows user to create multiple folders, also when you go to a car it should list on the info screen which folders this car is a part of assuming you have overlapping folders like 700-750PP and '90 LMP Cars.

Who are the 4 people that were daft enough to vote no? Must of been out of spite of the fact that they hadn't though of it themselves, lol. This is a definite yes from me (I've got 700 cars, and I'm still finding cars that I still haven't even driven yet because I sometimes come across multiple cars in the UCD and I tune some of them but forget about a couple of them till later) a good example of that is when I bought the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II, it's such a great car, one of my favorites. I bought the thing and didn't drive it till about a month later (and that was just because I picked it at random when online at the Nurburgring). Now, if I could create a file for cars that look cool or have a potential for high hp, I could put those in a file, for later tuning and whatnot. It would be a VERY useful feature.

Indeed, useful is the word to use.

The current garage system is like :
When you go to a restaurant and look at their menu "without" any category of appetizer, dinner, dessert, wine....etc.
If you think about it, would this be really hard just to decide what you want to eat? Yes it will be, and this is what it feels like with the current GT5 garage system.

Oh yeah...

Really need this feature!
Its annoying with the extremely long loading times, specially on standard cars.
