Could they be preparing for an influx of traffic around the Cologne game show?

Maybe new network connectivity for GT5 (beta or review version) or GTM?

Could be hardware update preparing for GT5 release or it could be anything, or nothing. We don't and we probably wont know.

my games been going quite slow sometimes and disconnecting from PSN and stuff lately. would this be the cause? maybe they're doing stuff in perparation for a big upgrade?

As I said in the last thread about this that I locked, we have one in the Prologue forum which is where it should be. It can't possibly affect GT5 yet as it is not out.
