The Porsche 997 is the 5th Generation 911, replacing the 996, and started production in 2004. The Carrera was the base model 911 and, following criticism the 996 Carrera S was to refined, the 997 Carrera S came with a 3.8 Flat 6 (Base Carrera had 3.6 Flat 6), lowered PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) suspension with adjustable dampers, 19" wheels, brakes from the 911 Turbo, sports exhaust, xenon headlights and aluminium gauge instruments. The 997 Carrera S proved very popular, outselling the base Carrera, even though it was $13,000 more expensive. The car was featured in Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005).
