I think gender may have played a role with reduced turnout. Is that significant? In the outcome.Do you really see her gender as a significant issue?
Finland and Poland, categorically no chance Russia step foot in either of those without staring WW3.So, Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. Can we expect to see a pact between Russia and Trump's America, leading to the invasion and partition of Poland, Finland and (of course) Ukraine?

Daddy trump protecting all the goons with brown orange noses. So what does Gaetz resigning from Congress do for his AG appointment?
This is about the best that can be hoped for. Trump is in a position where if he had competent people in the roles around him and they all agreed on what they wanted to get done, they could achieve some truly terrifying things. He's going to install a loyalist, at least he can install an incompetent loyalist.
Right, but I don't think WW3 is off the cards here for anybody. There's a bunch of world leaders that seem almost eager to start WW3. And for some reason they all seem pretty buddy buddy with each other.Finland and Poland, categorically no chance Russia step foot in either of those without staring WW3.
I wish I could be so confident, this time around he has a lot of well-organised and well-funded people behind him (not in cabinet positions - they would never sully themselves with that) with very, very detailed plans of what they want done, and the agenda they want seems to be bubbling to the surface. All of which is formed well before Jan, back before (and well into) his first term the regime was an uncoordinated, directionless mess, this time is very, very different. This is about the best that can be hoped for. Trump is in a position where if he had competent people in the roles around him and they all agreed on what they wanted to get done, they could achieve some truly terrifying things.
There's a good chance that they all trip over their own schlongers in greed though.
we get Vance, and then we are all well and truly screwed.
I agree that WW3 is possible, but I don't see a scenario where the US teams up with Russia in opposition to NATO which was what would happen should the post I responded to come true.Right, but I don't think WW3 is off the cards here for anybody. Swamp creature tries to defend himself in adding to the swamp.
Timmy has a message for the Republicans who want to vote against nominations.
How did they end up fixing the environment problem? Was it because there were a lot fewer people around after the war or did friendly aliens come in and teach them how to fix everything?Definitely feels as if we are on the star trek timeline. Maybe a couple years behind.
I don't see a pact between Russia and Magamerica, not in any official capacity, but Trump could play hardball threatening to defund or pull out of NATO, as he has done in the past, until he gets his* way. America pulling out of NATO would essentially mean the end of NATO as we know it. Even if the other members quickly create a new alternative pact, it would create an oppotunity for Putin to further push his expansion plans during the chaos it would bring. So, Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. Can we expect to see a pact between Russia and Trump's America, leading to the invasion and partition of Poland, Finland and (of course) Ukraine?
You might want to hang out in the LeopardsAteMyFace subreddit, then. Going to be the best area on Reddit for the next year or so.I'm not sure I'm opposed to Gaetz. Ok hold on, hear me out.
The reason we're in this mess is because people weren't paying attention. We're not going to get out of it until they are. That means that the Trump admin necessarily must be painful. It has to be painful enough that people need to wake up to the idea that there are more important things than cheeseburgers that cost $2 less. Until they can make that choice, there is no hope. So before anything gets better, it needs to get a whole lot worse. And a whole lot worse is Matt Gaetz.
Yes people are going to get hurt. Justice will not be done. Innocent people will suffer. That is baked in to our future.
Another point on the Gaetz thing...You might want to hang out in the LeopardsAteMyFace subreddit, then. Going to be the best area on Reddit for the next year or so.
I've been thinking the same thing for a while...So before anything gets better, it needs to get a whole lot worse.
The question is, how bad does it need to get. Your idea of bad in some respects, will be music to other peoples ears... I'd say it's probably only really the economy that is universal - you need that to bite everyone HARD - like undeniably hard... if Trump doesn't actually totally **** that up, things may get terrible to normal people with morals and ethics, but not be bad enough to change the minds of Trump voters.I'm just wondering if perhaps it needs to get worse before it can get better.
Yea, I think you're right about the economy.I've been thinking the same thing for a while...

I genuinely don't. Migrants are a significant issue in the UK, and relatively normal people are all good advocating burning them alive, I don't see the USA being much better in that respect. It's got to be something that affects the electorate directly, not something that's filtered through the news media first.I think that whatever camps get set up to house the deported people that we can't figure out where to send will generate some horrific human rights abuses. And that kind of thing could finally make it home to some people.
Also, it would have to get ugly, like 2008
The abortion bans are hitting hard enough in some states that they're making a difference in the way people think. Even Texas is pushing back. Also in a lot of southern states there are people who either know or work with people who are here illegally. They might pay attention to what happens to those people.I genuinely don't. I agree that the economic disaster has to be worse than 2008. However, people make bad choices when they get desperate. They don't suddenly start making good ones. So I'm still not sure it gets us where we want to be. I'm not sure anything gets us where we want to be though. It would have to be uglier. As has been discussed elsewhere, 2008 is long ago enough that people will view it through rose tinted glasses, and not think of it as being that bad, since, 'we're all still here, right'. It needs to be worse.
Those ain't 'Muricans, though. They shouldna bin here in the first place. Ain't gonna make no difference.I think that whatever camps get set up to house the deported people that we can't figure out where to send will generate some horrific human rights abuses. Exactly, and it's why language that 'others' and dehumanises target groups is a feature, not a bug. Those ain't 'Muricans, though. They shouldna bin here in the first place. Ain't gonna make no difference.
It seems like his victory has emboldened some hateful folk as seen by the many people of African descent receiving personal text messages telling them they have been selected to pick cotton or be a slave.
