I agree, I was skeptical as well but i searched for some reviews on an old fanatec wheel for the original xbox and it had awesome reviews. I dont htink the cheaper wheel has the porsche logo, i'll get back to you on that later in the day

Where can I find these reviews? And I believe I did in fact see a Porsche badge on the cheaper "911 GT3 RS" that lacks leather. Also, do you think the price of $86 USD for the cheaper wheel is legit or bull.

http://xbox.about.com/od/xboxaccessories/fr/fanatecs3rev.htm

I just went on the fanatec site and looked their products up and checked for reviews on google. they seem pretty legit.

I read about them producing another wheel that would compete with the DFP by logitech, just didn't connect the two when you spoke of the gt3.

I honestly think that both wheels will be good, obviously the gt3 wheel will not come with an H pattern shifter and such.

I would definitely give the GT3 a shot, if that is your price range, but if you can...shell out some extra for the Porsche wheel. I searched for more reviews on their actual gaming controllers and they all had very good feedback.

When I got the g25 i had really high hopes, but felt kind of let down. Since fanatec has had the opportunity to see the flaws in the g25 and correct some of them, well.. it should be good.

Logitech is a huge company, of course everyone knows the name.
and this smaller company named Fanatec might seem like a knock-off brand company, but they really do seem legit.

Logitech has so many other products to manage while Fanatec has their focus on gaming gear. Honestly, I'm saying so much good about them they should have chosen me as a tester =(

I don't know of anyone who has actually got to test one and written about it so anyone, please do post a response in that case.

Just a thought, if they have enough to get a few test copies of the wheel out, they should have enough resources to create a well made wheel that does the porsche name justice.

Keep in mind that they applied for the porsche licensing about 7 years ago.

Anyway, for those of you who want to wait and see a review, I will definitely post. I have really high hopes for this wheel and if it lets me down, I will explain everything in detail..
Not really biased, just telling you what i think, and i really do love the g25 wheel, its so fun and the best out right now, but it's gettin' old and we need something new. Why not something branded by porsche?

Also I think Fanatec realizes that this wheel could help make or break them.

Anyway that was a long ass post. Just trying to give you a helpful view.
I have read a bunch of people bash on this wheel...with really nothing to back them up. Most just say stuff like it wont compare to the g25, or it looks crappy? All of that which I perceive to be biased. I will post a video of the play when I receive mine and a long review and answer any questions.

dude. they should have picked me as a tester.
If anyone has the time, I would seriously appreciate you recommending me to be a tester so I can report back with better results as I have been.

the clutch and brake might be better then on G25... but the G25 has more advantages...

put your stick shifter anywhere...
does not have to remove the stick to make it sequential.
G25 has MORE buttons to set up with. lets say turn engine off and on.. horn lights. etc

and the BIG advantage is the FLOPPY gear box shifters behind the wheel for the F1 and other cars that use them.

350 bucks with no floppy pedal gears, and buttons... no thanks.

ah. I really think you're missin out. You can put the shifter anywhere, and the shifter on the g25 will feel really cheap compared to this shifter. the sequential shifter on the g25 kind of seems like they just stuffed it in there. I definitely think it will be better. You should see some of the porsche setups on rocket. There are shifters behind the wheel, and over 10 buttons. a lot on the g25 dont even work with the ps3. another thing is that the porsche wheel actually has the buttons built onto the wheel sleekly with neat looking luminated lights for ps3 or computer buttons.

remember its built to Porsche standards. Porsche

What Porsche setups. You didn't provide a link. Also, how do you know the shifter on the Porshe wheel will feel anymore realistic than the G25? Have you seen some reviews where actual people have got their hands on one? Lastly, just because its built to Porsche standards does not really mean a thing until people have tested it and say that it is worthy of such a title; blinding yourself to any of the wheel's faults is just pure fanboyism, for now anyway (until you yourself have used the wheel and prove its great).

BTW. I do amire your enthusiasm for the Porsche wheel.

You're right. I really am hoping for the best on this wheel. I was just basing facts together, like that they have had a long time to work on this and it has finally come together. Just a thought, since porsche isn't in Gran Turismo, i would imagine that their standards are set pretty high for anyone out to get their license.
For those of you who aren't going to get it right away, you have people like me who will post about it right when it comes in.
I was just reading up on it. The shifter looks like it will have some resistance to it, no guarantees, but I guess that is what came across to me as what was said by whoever answered the FAQ about it.

Another thought is that since they are having testers for this wheel 14 days before its release on DEC 13th, that would mean a few people will be getting it in 5 days and hopefully will report.
They probably just want to get the name out considering only a handful of people know about/want this wheel,
but they could also be making a secondary one afterwards.

Don't get me wrong the g25 is a great wheel, but it could be better.

and i posted the link earlier in a post but here it is again

Anyway, if it comes and it doesn't reach my expectations (obviously high) I will definitely spill it's every flaw and complain and probably return it.

The g25 has great force feedback, everything is nice about it, although I feel the pedals were kind of crammed together along with the sequential and H shifter not meeting my standards.

The g25 is the best out, (for its price at least not including ECCI and what not)
I'm just hoping for better, there is definitely room for improvement and it is unlikely logitech will make a new wheel real soon. Hasn't it only been out for a year? Could be and probably am wrong, but even if they do jam one out, I feel like they would be in a rush to release.

Anyway, this is good for consumers. Better or not, I'm just filling you guys in with what I think and what I know.
If you don't agree or care thats fine too. Just thought a few would be as interested as I am.

Oh btw I drive a pontiac GTO, which is descent and the shifter in that thing is like rowing a boat compared to the g25 shifter. haha but yeah once again it is a game or sim. we'll see

then i am wrong :D, i admit. if you say there are buttons, and shifters, and i would never have bough the G25, i would buy the porsche wheel :)
but the buttons all work on my PS2 PS3. i remeber assigning buttons on GT4 to whatever button i like on that wheel.

That link doesn't work anymore, sorry. Please post a full and desriptive review with pics once the wheel releases. The wheel sounds great, especially the resistance of the shifter and no belt noise for the force feedback. Let's hope it doesn't let us down.:)

and dont forget to include a video showing off the peddals, shifters, and most important how strong and great is the feed back of the wheel :)

i might get convinced into buing one... I allready own 2 of the best wheels (i think) today on market, the DFP and G25.... will it hurt to have another best for 350 buks? hmm... maybe next year :D

hahaha yeah i feel you on that one,
your wheels are good enough to last you a while
and I just received a letter from them, they want to add me on their tester list.
I will definitely post, you guys can count on it.

hey thanks a lot :) make videos if you can.. and make sure you can.. because sometimes they might be not happy if u make a video of it... so be careful ask first ;)

From my experience with RC racing, Mabuchi motors are crap. They are considered bottom of the barrel and often come with "toy" kits such as Tamiya. Unfortunately, this really turns me off when considering upgrading from the DFP. I do like that they are using a belt drive system.

I almost want to wait and see if there is an upgrade from the G25.

I did use the Fanatec wheel that was Forza 1/X box compatible. It did not have true FF, & while a decent quality product (it was about $125 - 150 US at the time), was not the quality of a DFP (or G25).

I would say only time will tell if this is a comparable (or better) wheel in quality to the G25 - I don't think the "Porsche" brand name alone guarantees that this will be good & reliable product.
