What's with the running boards? Make it black, Porsche, make it black. If I owned one I would go out of my way to paint those frickin' runnings boards black. Jeez.

And the tail lights are almost exactly the same shape as the Boxster and Cayman. But not quite. Also, I don't like the kink in the rear quarter window. It's not "Porsche" enough.

It's still a sedahatchagon, and still rather unorthodox looking. The front's pretty good, but the back...is not. It looks as if it's having an identity crisis back there. "I want to be rear-engined, but I'm not!"

Its not bad, about what I had expected. The front end, as Joey pointed out a long time ago, looks quite a bit like the Corvette. The rest, however, looks pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.

Not keen, if I'm honest. The rear end just does't work, whether looking directly towards the back or whether viewing the car in profile. Would look way better as a proper saloon instead of some kind of stretched hatchback. It'll probably grow on me in the same way the Cayenne did, but at the moment I actually prefer the look of the Cayenne. And it's not a patch on the Cayman, which is the looker of the range at the moment for me.

Big fast exec saloons? It'd still be a Maserati Quattroporte for me.

The front looks amazing to me. You look at the sides and think... okay. Then you look at the rear and think... what's this? The average profile of this Porsche Panamera remains. This reminds me of a past car that looks great up front, yet completely unorthodox at the rear. Remember the Chrysler Crossfire? I'm not sure if the Porsche designers were designing the back while listening to "Bootylicious" by Houston's own Beyoncé (or Sasha Fierce nowadays). I, like most others, don't call the backs of cars as "butts," but it's pretty fat in the back. It's just a crazy synergy of sedan and Porsche. Only thing weirder is if Porsche took styling cues from the Porsche 959 and apply them to this new sedan (though the 959 is a coupe).

Otherwise, I'm not hateful of this car. I don't hate it. Approval: 80%.

The front is sexy, the rear is not. I would like it better if they made it a true wagon instead of a halfway crossbreed.

This Is Interesting...

Photos of and details about the Porsche Panamera, the company's first modern effort at creating a four-door sedan, have officially leaked all over the web and it looks exactly how we expected it to look. From what we can gather from Google Translator and Auto Telegraaf, the Panamera will first hit the shores in Panamera S and Panamera Turbo trim, each fitted with a 4.8-liter V8 putting out 400 HP and 500 HP, respectively. Both will also get Porsche's PDK 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.Though no diesel version is likely to see production, a 3.6-liter V6 option good for 300 HP and a V6-electric hybrid are in the works for sale at a later date. Given the sedan's unique look, the production numbers seem quite optimistic.

Emboldened by their success with the Cayenne SUV, Porsche is planning to sell 20,000 Panameras globally each year, with approximately 20% of these as the top-of-the-line Panamera Turbos. These sedans are going to be quite large if, as the leaked information states, the vehicle is actually 16.3 feet long and 6.3 feet wide. By comparison, a new 5-series BMW is only 15.9 feet long.

I'm amazed just how good the front looks compared to what I expected. Even the rear looks good. Well done porsche!

In comparison to the estoque, I would probably pick it only because when i see the estoque i don't think lamborghini, the panamera is distinctly porsche though.

Oddly enough, that helps it.
Indeed, the wing takes away the heaviness of the rear end and the lighter looking wheels give it proper Porsche sportiness. Overall not bad even as it is but could be better.

I don’t think any of these four-door supercars work at all… I’d rather take a Jaguar XF.

still a little heavy out back...make the back a little "Faster." Damn thing looks like a Scirocco with only two doors. And I, for one, am not impressed with that widebody Golf.

ZEE
Amazing look and design. Porsche have become very lazy in their approach to vehicular aesthatics. LOL.
The Estoque is nearly a line for line rip-off of a late-90s Dodge concept car, and the Rapide has all the effort put into it that a car that was basically designed in 1993 could have. The Porsche is the only one refreshing in its uniqueness, even if it is similar to an old Guigiaro concept in profile.

^Twas the 989, and I think it was more 911-based than anything (oddly enough rumoured to be rear-engined). Was in development right before Porsche sales (particularly those of the 928) imploded, then was canceled to cut costs for fear of Porsche going bankrupt. Eventually morphed into the 993 911.

Porsche also did a one-off four door 928 that was never meant for production in he late 80s as a gift to Ferry Porsche.

BT-> I like it, its more like a fastback. The worlds most expensive liftback, practicality counts! ;)

I remember having seen in one of my books that Porsche had a 912 sedan concept car in 1965 or so... but it never made it to production... Anyways, you're bringing up some good facts :dopey:
