Hey that's pretty cool! Are you friends with Rick Knoop? Relation perhaps?

It would be sweet if you could get a photo with him for us đź‘Ť

Finally got around to photographing the Lexus in a nice place after what seems like forever. :D

Made a lot of improvements to the WRX this weekend. You can see the entire list in the members ride section. I really love the new painted Enkei wheels.

How's ole Bruiser doing with the new trans, Is he/she still smoking? Haven't seen an update lately.

His new gearbox is doing fine, it whines a bit in 2nd but it's not too much of a bother. He's still smoking and he's started idling rough too now, though. :(

:nervous: That sounds bad. Any idea what the problem is? Sounds to me (and keep in mind that I'm absolutely not an expert, and have very little experience with automotive maintenance) like he's burning oil, which could mean that the piston rings are worn out. Which means an expensive engine rebuild.

Or a blown head gasket.

Oh, we're well aware that he's burning oil. About 80 miles of motorway driving will burn most of it. I've suggested all of the things it could possibly be to my dad - piston rings, valve seals, EGR valve... but he's past the point of caring now. He just wants to nurse Bruiser through the summer and then sell him at the end of August. Unless we suddenly win the lottery or find enough money to buy a new engine and sort out his bodywork (which is also really bad as I found out on Saturday), there's not a lot I can do to keep him anymore. :(

Well hello there...
I'm pretty much just a lurker around here, but I came across this section and figured if post. But since I'm posting from an iPhone and can't seem to get photobucket to work, I'll start with a video of my car.

This was from a local drift event a few months ago. We have had a few since but I'm pretty terrible about brining my camera and filming anything.

My car is a 1995 240sx, still zenki faced. Pretty basic drift/street car stuffs. Blacktop SR20DET, frontmount, exhaust, Megan track coilovers, buddy club seat, modified steering knuckles, tie rods and tension rods, and of course a welded differential.

White S13 in the video has a ford 5.0HO motor.
Red S13 has stock single cam.
Greg S12 has a VG30.
Corolla has a 4AG I think

Edit... Lets see If a can a couple photos to work from the ole phone.

I drive a 2001 Volvo S60. It's about to turn over 161,000 miles. Personally, I love it. It's a good, reliable car that gets decent gas mileage. It's just a basic model with nothing fancy, except for an aftermarket Alpine radio with iPhone hookup. I want to get new rims for it, preferably black. I hate the chrome ones on there.

What type of diesel is it? Turbo diesel? My dad's Capella diesel had a ton of problems half a year ago, so he might know what the problem is.

When an engine burns up most of it's oil in 80 miles; it's :censored:ed.
I have no idea what I'm talking about, but if it's burning the oil, not leaking it, then the oil is passing the pistons and being combusted.
It's simply not economically viable to fix a Mondeo engine if it is doing that.
It's more economically viable to either
a) get another Mondeo engine.
b) get another Mondeo.

Remember, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

That's probably the worst thing about it - it's not a diesel.

Don't worry, you're spot on with what you're talking about, that is the dilemma we have . My dad was pretty set on getting another Mondeo, but I'm so outrageously attached to ours I wasn't very happy about that. It would probably be cheaper to just buy a new engine, because we could find a reconditioned one for about ÂŁ2k, whereas a decent Mondeo will cost at least ÂŁ6k. My dad seemed to change his mind on Friday night but he was very drunk and slurred most of what he said, so I'm not sure if he still stands by that. We've got a trip to Skegness in just under two weeks, so we'll see what happens then!
