Solution: drop the car. Plus obviously you can't put it on the tread, and then the dirty tread contrasts the clean sidewall quite a bit

jk, yes that is a good point, and it will especially stand out on your car. Try it once to find out would be my advice. Difference may not be as big as expected.

I always thought it looked to glossy personally. Plus obviously you can't put it on the tread, and then the dirty tread contrasts the clean sidewall quite a bit and kind of bugs me... Though maybe in just weird.

I've heard this so many times. And, honestly... I think they're worth it considering they're almost always beautiful.
But then again I've never cleaned 5000 spoke wheels before.

Probably takes 15 minutes to thoroughly wash and dry all four of them. It's a huge pain in the ass when it's hot and humid outside and there's still heat coming off the engine, and you're already pretty hot from washing and drying the rest of the car. If hell exists, they'd probably make people clean these wheels for eternity.
