We all want more cars, better AI, better graphics, sound etc. But I'm tired of hearing these comments when it comes to what they want in GT5. Obviously, PD would be making a huge mistake releasing GT5 without fixing all of GT4's problems. But they would be making an even bigger mistake if they don't give us a completely restructured GT mode. Here are my suggestions:
Things to fix from GT4's GT Mode.
The user interface could be better. Its easy enough to figure out even if it was in Japanese, but I would put all the races in one place just like in GT3.
The A-Spec points idea is cool, but no matter how many points you rack up, they're completely useless. I would make the number of A-Spec points in a race multiply the amount of money to be gained in a race. (eg: 1-50 pts=prize money*1, 50-100=money*1.5, 100-150pts=money*2, 150-200=money*3). Also, the total amount of A-Spec points gained should unlock access to better cars. (eg. 5000 Pts=supercars. 10000 Pts=GT class race cars. 15000 pts=Group C/LMP1 cars, 50000pts=F1 Car.)
5-Second time penalties in rallying and missions are absolutely frustrating. So we'll only uset that for cutting chicanes
Let online play be an integral part of GT mode. GT mode races and championships should be playable online. A car trading village where players could chat as well as trade cars could create a truly worldwide Gran Turismo Community.
The ultra-long endurance races from GT4 make no sense. I know that PD sponsors 24-hour Le Mans and Nurburgring races in real life, but in the game it just isn't realistic. Let's compare:
Real Nurburgring 24-Hours: 200 cars entered, 200,000 spectators, use of the combined Nordschleife and GP circuit, transition from day to night to day, rain (and sometimes even hail!
)
Virtual Nurburgring 24-Hours: perpetual day, no rain, uses Nordschleife only, zero spectators, only SIX CARS! WTF!?
The maximum allowable length for an endurance race in A-Spec mode should be six hours. Nothing more!
Rally racing needs to be more realistic. Point-to-point rally stages need to be at least 4-Miles long. The circuits present now should only be used for Super Special Stages only.
Include real drag racing, with traction control and automatic transmission disabled.
Finally, my biggest gripe with simulation modes of the past is that it is too easy to cheat and it got boring after a while. And with GT4's GT mode, its too easy to start, whether or not you imported money and licenses from GT3. Here's how we can fix this:
-Reduce cheating by putting better restrictions on the amount of modifications allowed on the car.(eg. Bring back horsepower limits, bar certain cars from certain races.)
-Put cars in specific classes based on performance (eg. Sunday Cup is a group D class. Only group D cars (eg. Lupo 1.2, Daihatsu midget) are allowed. When a group D car is tuned to a certain extent, it becomes a group C (don't confuse with classic endurance racers) car and thus cannot compete in the Sunday Cup.)
-Make the game a bit more linear. (Eg. Completing beginner races unlocks professional races, which when completed unlock extreme races, endurance races, rally races and missions.)
Features that can be added
More types of missions (eg. Holding off a competitor who's trying to pass you, passing someone within a time limit)
Drifting competition. This would be super cool!
A-Spec points gained would depend on method of initiation, angle, length of time of drift and whatever other criteria they use when scoring points in Formula D. Tandem drifting can occur against an AI driver or another competitor online.
