Managed this with the Countach. First on Monaco after a few tries. 2nd on Deep Forest on my first attempt - could easily do better with some setup changes.

(no aids!)

I reckon the Countach is your best bet. Fully tuned it'll only have 514ish Bhp, however it has the speed to keep up with the other cars. Cote D'Azur is easy enough however Deep Forest Raceway is the harder of the two.

I recommend ASM if you're having trouble keeping the car under control out of corners and also one more major tip is that you must be in front by the first corner on Deep Forest Raceway.

It is possible with inferior cars, just stick on the racing line once you're in the lead and block for dear life. :D

If your willing to part with one of your decent cars, you can trade for pretty mch anything in that list. Loads of people got the pre 79 cars by doing the birthday glitch trick. I traded my Zonda R which you get from winning the GT World Championship for a Ford MK IV, and blitzed the opposition!!

There's a couple threads on this, but I'll summarize what I've found.

The 427 Cobra can supposedly do it, but I haven't managed it. It has the speed, but just extremely hard to keep up with those race cars in the corners. I tuned it all the way and spent an hour working on the setup in practice mode, and still can't do better than about 3rd.

The other, easier, way to do it is by using B-Spec. You can get the Toyota 7 race car from Like the Wind in B-Spec.

You can also get a pretty fast old car from Like the Wind in A-Spec as well I think, but I don't remember. I haven't gotten either one yet. I'm just gonna wait and do the B-Spec part. My B-Spec is still only level 14, but they're getting there.

I won this pretty easily with the lambo countash that you get as a prize from the Lamborghini event.

You need to fully Tune it.
Set the ride hight to -10 front and rear
Set the downforce to max.
Set the transmission for a max speed of 162 (or somewhere around there cant exactly remember).

Then when you are in the race you NEED to be in first place 1/2 a lap into the race, otherwise restart. Then you just need to drive perfectly and constantly watching your rear view mirror to block when it is needed.

You should be able to maintain the lead pretty easily on the straights because your gearing is so low, and in the corners they will usually only try to pass on the inside so as long as you take the inside line they shouldn't be able to get past you.

Thats how I did it anyway.

I tried the Buick...got out front at turn 1 but then got punted...landed on my back like a turtle.......

I can't remember which car I beat it with but I easily beat it after I changed the transmission to be almost purely for acceleration, especially for the second race. I believe I dropped it down to about 140 or so estimated max speed.

The cobra can do it I use the tune set u posted came in 3rd the first race and in 1st on the 2nd so the cobra can do it thanks

countach works, huh? ive been tryin but no such luck for me :( i was hoping i would win something down the line but i have finished nearly every race, and nothing :( So its time to wall ride i guess :(:(:(:( i hate cheating but its better then spending 20 mill cr for a novelty racer :)

what about the Shelby AC Cobra 427 ‘66. you win it classic muscle car cup in b spec

I tuned it fully and it is impossible to control. On the first map I keep literally flying through the air. And it's quite hard to use the breaks when your wheels are not I contact with the road. I feel really sorry for having spent huge amounts of money on tuning this car just so that it is useless.

I did get a bronze on cote d'azur but that is really not an achievement and certainly not worth the money.

Bad investment, don't do it! It would have been better to wait for a better car to come along.

I traded a rally car for countach tried several times with it didnt work use the cobra

Did you try using the cobra? It feels utterly uncontrollable. I have really gathered some rage against this particular car a nd especially against myself for tuning it so much that I actually got a "loony tune" trophy.

AC Cobra would probably do it but it's likely expensive and i'm not sure if it's premium or standard. I have seen them on used list.

Mustang Mach 1 is premium and quite cheap but you'll need to spend big to get it above 700 BHP and the weight down.

Lambo may be the answer but not sure on the tuning potential.

I tried the fully modded AC and it just won't handle ( or better yet, I couldnt handle it. It was on ice even with racing soft tires). I ended up fully modding the Lambo. It wasn't easy, or fair as I basically had to spin the first place cars out at the first turn then from there is was white knuckle racing trying to keep them from passing. I justify my cheating by saying the AI's were the cheaters by using race cars with a lot more HP!!! And watch that ugly car that looks like it has a jet engine on the back (forgot what it was called) that thing is fast!!! I knocked his butt out at the first corner but he caught me and was always trying to get around.

Can't any of the collector's edition do the trick? 300SL and AC Cobra? No?

Strangely the game doesn't recognize the collectors edition AC Cobra as a valid entry, so you can't use the chrome edition for that race, at least that's with mine. :ouch:

You will win the Toyota 7 in B Spec race gone like the wind.......

or i will trade you one of my Ford Mk IV's or Ferrari 330 P4's if you have a mazda 787 and the Audi R10 :-P

Okay, so I used a DODGE CHALLENGER R/T '70
I got it from the dealership for around 75,000 I think and then i went to GT AUTO and clicked on race modification. This cost around 150,000(not too sure). Then I added every upgrade left that I thought i would need ( all engine etc upgrades inluding soft race tires).
I then tried the events and came 2nd.
I changed the SUSPENSION settings by changing the SPRING RATE to 8.5 on FRONT and REAR.
I changed the RIDE HEIGHT to -25 on FRONT and REAR and tried the races again.
I FINALLY WON (lol) first time on both tracks. I also changed the gear ratio so that the top speed was around 170.
Hope this helps, it really did work for me although by the end of the race my heart was beating like nothing before lol. THANKS!
( remember to block the cars when they are behind otherwise there is no catching the toyota when its 1st!)

I used the Toyota 7 Race Car you win from Like the wind it won Deep Forest easily enough first go and by a major lead fully modded car by the way, but it can't handle the cote d'azur very well my b spec driver kept crashing into the corner wall of the chicane just after the tunnel. So im thinking of shelling out 20 mill and getting one of the most expensive cars in the game the jag

^ THIS. I am raging right now since my Bob is not able to drive properly. Cote d'Azur seems to be too hard for him. -.- I may have to save up for a different car now or grind until I win the GT40 Racecar.

I've managed to win the cote de azure race in a fully modded cobra it has 716hp and only weights 921kg and you can win it in a b spec race. But I'm still having trouble with deep forest raceway.

If anyone reading wanted, I can let you BORROW my 2 Ford GT40 Race Cars ('69) or a Toyota 7 Race Car ('70). Just hit up my psn :)

If you wanted to do it yourself I recommend that you complete the "Like the wind" b Spec. I used the X2010 to win that. It rewards you the Toyota 7.

This cup is a pain in the ass. I bought the Corvette C2 race car and tuned it to 700hp.
I made gold on the first course but that Côte d'Azur is plain impossible.
Chapparal 2J has such an advantage on courses with a lot of low speed curves and the Corvette handles like a brick. I managed to get silver there but the 2J was 18sec ahead of me....

I honestly think the only way is to buy the 2J, and its 14.4mil CR :(

agreed..
I've got all worked AC Cobra, Toyota 7, Countach, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C2) Race Car, Ferrari 512BB.. all with reduced weights and 700 ~ 1000Bhp.. cant get settings/handling right for any of them.. though, I've only been trying to win Classic Car Cup for about 6 months! ..its driving me absolutely mad! I think the Chapparal 2J is the only option, but $15,000,000 is hard to come by... too expensive.. :(
Can anyone else help us out with a solution??

That'd be great... the 2J is the biz.. I can beat the 2D.. the 2J is way faster.. I put my PS3 away in disgust about a month ago.. let me get it out over the weekend.. I'll message you then.. Cheers,

You can do the "History Racing car cup Pre 1979 Car" with the "Ford Mark IV Race Car '67" tuned and you get the achievement as well "Dream Race" (in the ultimate three-way showdown between a Ford Mark IV Race Car, a Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car and a Jaguar XJ13 Race Car). You get the Ford Mk IV 67 from winning the A-Spec Indy 500 race.

Hey guys, im doing EXPERT atm, and one of the entries is the History Racing Car Cup. I have some PRE 79 cars, but nothing that can compete with the competition in that series. All cars have like 700HP and weight around 1000kg.

How can I find a car to compete with it? In the 2nd hand area there is never anything remotely similar.

it took me ages to get past that stage.. I tried about 5 cars, all with similar specs as above. ended up winning with the cobra 427 with all the bits (supercharged, etc.) But most importantly, dial its top speed down to max out up the hill (when racing monaco track).. was about 270kph I think.. and run MEDIUM race tyres. Hard race just dont have the grip....
:)

So true, traction means everything in that game.
