Wow, lovely new pics! Some tasty details too... (notably the weather indicator on the menu screen!)...

Oh wow, just give me a sample of what the physics are like and I'm back on board fully. :dopey:
True, I'm not sure if GT:HD is a fair representation of what we can expect from GT5:P... however, I'm not sure I'll even notice the physics, I'll be too busy mopping up the drool

this shot is very disturbing, IMO the lighting and the shaders impacts visual perfection (except for the cockpit view)

PHOTOMODE FTW!!

AMEN to that

Check the location here: Brands Hatch.... doesn't mean it's a circuit in the game or even a Photomode location, maybe it's just the location of the user? Be interesting to find out...

I noticed this too :) Of course we can't be sure, but think about it: These are screenshots from a game in the hands of Japanese developers. It would be kinda strange for them to enter their location as "Brands Hatch" and release a screenshot of it when the circuit didn't exist on the game. I guess that's still possible but that would be a really annoyingly odd thing to do. I'm hopeful about it: Brands Hatch ROCKS! :D

GT Prologue will obvousely BE PLAYABLE at Games Convention in Leipzig in August.

Germanys' "Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle" goverment body (everything sounds so freaking good on German :)) has validated "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (GC demo)" to be playable at territory of Germany.

So, all of you heading to Leipzig - take your HD camcorders and be ready to roll :D

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Online Details

Producer Kazunori Yamauchi talks about online features for the upcoming racer.
By Yoshi Sato, 07/25/2007

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine features an interview with Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi. Here he talks about some of the new features for the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

- PlayStation Home icon on the top menu screen: within the Home universe, there will be something like a "Gran Turismo World" galaxy. You can then enter the top menu of the game from Home, or vice-versa by selecting the respective icons.

- My Page: When the game starts, a My Page screen will also appear. In the final version, Yamauchi hopes to include a friends list as well. There will be several background images for the My Page screen such as Tokyo and other cities, but will also include sceneries of both outdoors and indoors. There is also a weather forecast displayed so that other players will know which geographic location you are in and how the weather is there.

- Chat features: Prologue will include 2 online modes, one which includes the chat features and the other which excludes this feature.

- Number of cars and course selection: about 40 cars and 4 courses with 8 different layouts. There will also be new courses which was briefly shown in the E3 trailer.

- Prologue will not have cars and course downloadables.

- Prologue falls somewhere in between the GT and Arcade mode. Players can earn reward money from each race and purchase new cars. There will be normal cars and tuned cars, but players cannot tune their own cars in this version. The save data from Prologue (such as money earned and cars purchased) can be carried over to Gran Turismo 5.

- 16 cars during races for offline mode. This may drop to 12 cars in online mode.

- Game control features "Normal Mode" based on simulation engine and "Professional Mode" based on actual car behavior and physics.

- Yamauchi hopes to include B-spec mode but it is still not decided at this point.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is scheduled for an October release in Japan.

I'm not wanting to start mass confusion here, but PD told us there will be 4 tracks, with 8 layouts.

On screens Brands Hatch and Daytona Beach (Daytona Speedway) are written, so...

Eiger Nordwand
Suzuka GP
Suzuka East
Suzuka West
Daytona Oval
Daytona Road Course
Brands Hatch GP
Brands Hatch Short

4 tracks...with 8 layouts...

The tv button on the screens.
Is that just the replay theater or will you be able to search and download replays from other people?
or maybe even watch races in real time?

ok peeps! newbie in the house! i had to post after the last 2 pages of pics and info. how fantastic does this game look! i sold my ps2 and had to buy another for gt4, so i gotta have me a ps3 for gt5p. i cant get over the detail and graphics that are going into this game. im getting a 1080p tv and ps3 within thext 2 weeks. bring on gtp!

Well the ability to play back replays I think is taken for granted, GT:HD already allows you to download and watch other peoples replays, so I would imagine we will keep that one and the last one I would love.

Just some more things I noticed,

- I see that PD is going after the human element in GT5. This is great, but I would like individuality. Meaning, that I want to customize my driver's look, his skin color, helemet color and fire suit color. Also the AI should have driver names

- It's great they will let us transfer credits from this over to GT5, but I wouldn't get your hopes too high. I'm sure they will put a limit on how many credits you can transfer over, like they did for GT3-GT4. Look for 50,000 credits to be the limit. So say goodbye to starting your GT5 career off in that 5,000,000 credit prototype.

- notice the cars have tempature guages. Will these be there for looks or will they play a factor in car reliability? Will over revving overheat your engine?

- I don't think the locations seen in the menus have anything to do with locations you will see in GT5:P. No way they're going to have Daytona and LeMans, but that could be a hint to the track they are trying to get in the final game

- The TV icon is interesting. This looks like more than just a place to watch replays. Hopefully we can view live races. Is that why PD may choose 12 cars online instead of 16?

- I'm VERY intersted in seeing PD's PS3 HOME space. I also can't wait to see how pitstops look like

i hope pd brings some version of of daytona whether it be daytona international speedway or the rolex road course.
