Have you thought about insurence on these cars yet? It'll be pricey! I promise you that.
I was thinking about that i figured insurance wouldn't be that much b/c the engines aren't that big. Apposed to a v8 mustangs which are popular here. But could be wrong ;)

Insurance will be high on a 3rd gen Rx-7.I is cassified as a sports car.Even though the engine is small it is still in the same bracket with the Z28 Camaros and Mustang GT.A 2nd gen would be cheaper but still high. Before I turned 25 and got married my Ins. for my '89 non-turbo was alittle over 600 dollars every six months which is 100 dollars a month.I think I priced ins.on a 3rd gen around that time but I can't remember what it was.I think it was almost twice what I was paying at the time. This was about four years ago so it might be alittle cheaper now since they are older. This was for full coverage.

My cousin's got a 4.6L V-8 and yes he's a very good driver. He knows the difference between wreckless and safe driving.

Anyway ins. will be expensive. It's all most 2k a year on a Civic and a Civic is a lot less hp then a RX-7.

I say get a cheap rx-7 that has been wrecked and fix it
and if it has a salvage title the insurance will be cheaper but the car will not be worth as much when you want to sell it
but why you have it,it will haul @$$

Dak, you another Mazda guy? That's sweet! 1 Mazda guy just joined here a little bit ago...(MazKid's followers take over GTP!!! AHH!!!)

Yea, 3rd gens are hard to find, and they aren't always reliable, 2nd gens are the best, they really don't flood, they last for a long time, and they drive well(my dad has an '86 NA mind you...)and they are pretty cheap(NAs are really cheap, T2s are getting harder to find though...). That's all I have to say about that.

Yeah I'm a Mazda guy.I just now found out about this place.I'm usually on the RX7 forum. As for the flooding.I can't recall my '89 ever flooding on me.

The 1st gens flood, my dad had a '84 GSL-SE, and when it flooded, it was all hell trying to get it going again. They only flood if you start them up, move them, and turn them off fast. They need to run for a couple of mins.

BTW, you wanna join MAZ? Just go to the thread in this part of the forum...

Yeah, I'd go with the RX-7 nevertheless. Just because I hate Honda. Although Honda has a near-perfect reliability record, which only Toyota can beat, naturally. But if you want to have fun,...RX-7!
