They probably weren't available from the manufacturers at that time for testing.
I know I wouldn't let them touch mine if they had asked private owners.

Ferrari doesn't give any press Enzos to test out, however. Top Gear "borrowed" Nick Mason's, Road and Track/Car And Driver also "borrowed" one to test it, from a wealthy California guy.

I had no doubt on which one was going to win the top speed and acceleration tests.

And I had no doubt on which one was going to lose the handling one: the Continental handles just like it looks it would - like an aircraft carrier

A Zonda, Koenigsegg and a Veyron would have been great indeed. Heck, a Z06, a Viper and a Ford GT too...

I'm quite impressed that the Carrera GT beat the Enzo by the same margin the Enzo beat the Murcielago on the track... impressive. 👍

Still, there's no way I'd let someone that I don't know, even if they are from a respectable world-wide magazine, drive my several hundred thousand dollar supercar.
