Price Gouging the G27 because of GT5

Please feel free to lock or delete this as you deem necessary. I was doing some holiday window-shopping on Amazon. Since I'm at work I have 12 hours to kill a night, found this and almost fainted.

Just look at how much the price jumped on the G27.....LOOK!

I know that this has nothing to do with PD at all. Just greedy bastards out there trying to take advantage of a monumental game release. If you're in the market for a Logitech G27 better start playing the lotto/scratchers.

X-mas, Conversion of money, postage, supply from supplyer also play a part.

I work in retail, games dont make things more expensive(they can play a minor part), but supplyers stock or the supplyers priceing plays a major part.

$1000 for the G27 is crazy though, why not ask why the large price markup.

Plus if you dont like the price from amazon, try another store

I think part of the problem is that Amazon themselves does NOT have the G27 in stock. They must be offering it for sale from one of their 3rd party vendors. And some of those smaller vendors are very unethical. I would not expect Amazon themselves to do something like this. It was a similar situation (although no where near as bad) in the early spring when there was a shortage of PS3s for sale. Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target and other big retailers were all out of stock. And the smaller online retailers that had a few were selling them for $350~$500.

I paid about $225 for my G27 in April. I was lucky. And you may not ever see it that low again simply because stocks are depleted and the value of the US dollar has dropped considerably. But it's just not worth more than $300 IMO.

BTW, you might want to try Logitech themselves.

G27's aren't really in stock anywhere, only reliable place I've found here is ebay official logitech sales guys.

Yeh, we have an official Logitech Seller on eBay here in Australia that has plenty for $489 AUD. Free postage.

They can be had for as much as $100 less than that. Which is still too much, I remember when they were around $330.

Even at $400 its a complete ripoff. You may as well get obe of those Fanatec wheels made of unobtanium for that price.

Fry's still has a few kicking around at the proper retail price of $299.99 - not sure of their online stock though.

but no-where has them in stock, seems like its becoming an end of line product. Im hoping there's a G29 soon ^^

I have one for my G25 and it's worth every penny. A really nice setup that is easily stow-able and very sturdy. I got the deluxe version of it and it works really good. There are a bunch of videos on youtube for it too. But definitely a really nice setup.

I was a little disappointed to see what happened to HumanDestroyah and the price gouging he's experiencing. Curious, I went to Amazon to see for myself.

What I saw shocked me. But not the way you think it would. What I saw I couldn't believe and I acted quick.

Now, I don't expect this to last and I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. But if it doesn't, I got the steal of the century!

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. I, too, noticed the price hike on the G27's. I came pretty close to biting the bullet on ebay after my MOMO Force finally quit, but I ended up grabbing a Fanatec Carrera for much less. Would've liked 360 support, but...eh. For $150, it's a much better bargain than the Logitech at the moment.

I just ordered my G27 a few days ago from the Logitech site for $299. It was delivered 2 days later. No tax or shipping cost. Just gotta get lucky and find it in stock there I guess.

Yes, this price increase on G27 started happening back around September (iirc).

I was in the market for a G27 and shopping around in September. The prices across the board that I found were $209.99USD. I checked back a couple of week laters and there was a NEWS report at GT Planet on a $10 money-back coupon for G27. I was excited and ready to buy until I noticed the sellers had marked up the price to $219.99USD! LOL

After that I watched the G27 price continually increase as the GT5 release date was arriving. I think the G27s were around $270 by Nov24. (someone with a better memory can correct me).

Anyway....this stuff happens!


I am glad I held off since I now want to buy the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2 + clubsport pedal set!

it's always like this with certain accessories when the game that uses it comes out.

Madcatz Tournament Edition arcade stick was selling for $500 first month when Street Fighter 4 came out do to shortage. (they are $150 retail, can be had around $100 street price)

people get caught up in the hype and get fleeced.

I bought mine brand new a year ago used it for about 4 hours and it's been in the box ever since. Got my Fanatec shortly after. Not a scratch on it. Still smells like "new" in the box. I got an inkling to do some gouging myself
