Hi Coxis

No you have to be friends of the lobby person. If you are friends with someone and they are racing in a private lobby of someone else you are not friends with you will not see them connected anywhere via the yellow icon.

Quick question. Let's say a club member "XKR_JohnDoe5" joins one of these "hosting" PSN accounts lobbies. What if XKR_JohnDoe5 has 3 GT5 friends online, who are not associated to club "XKR" but are nevertheless friends with his XKR PSN account. Can they not go into the "Community" tab from their GT5 home, click on XKR_JohnDoe5, see that he is racing in an online lobby, click on the yellow icon and join the lobby he's in?

No they can't see that he is racing in the lounge I am affraid, They would have to be friend with the XKR account to see he is racing inside and to also join the lounge.

I've got to say that this private lobby system is a saving grace to the generally pretty poor implementation that is the GT5 online lobby free-for-all.

I've spent the evening racing in a private lobby setup pretty much as described in this thread and found the whole experience very enjoyable - good banter going on, great clean racing and obviously very like minded people in the room who (bar one little mishap initiated by myself) managed to complete numerous races without any incidents, with everyone showing respect to the other drivers on track.

Obviously not every private lobby is going to suit every driver, but certainly in my (limited) experience, a night racing in the private lobby has undone countless bad experiences I've had in the normal open lobby system. The only downside is that you have to be 'in the know' regarding what private lobbies are available, and who to talk to to get on the relevant friends list. Maybe the admin here on GTPlanet could promote the whole methodolgy with a news item on the front page, and maybe compile a list of private lobbies and the relevant contact.

Thanks DIA, was a pleasure racing with you too. I hope you will be a regular fixture in the lounges, the more the merrier :-)

DIA, if you are ever on late, add the CLART Lounges, allot of US guys CLART_Casual and CLART_TestNtune. Its a new group, and the accounts are yet to fill. so feel free to add them as well. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=230587

I will be in CLART Casual form about 22:30 onward. Not sure how many we will get in there as only 28 on the accounts and several different time zones, though will see how it goes.

I'm all over that like a bad rash. Next time I'm on I'll add the accounts - not sure if it will be this evening or not, depends on when my good lady wife decides to retire for the evening.....

I assume there is a T in CLART_TestNtune (not CLART_TesNtune)

Hi Pappa, I added those two accounts yesterday, if you get chance can you accept my friend request please.

I noticed last night a couple of the guys were using the room we were in on Wednesday - are all members of that room aware of the existance of CLART_x rooms - wondering if we can get them on board with the new room as well? Seems daft to have two or three people in each room when combined there could be a good number or racers and a nice spread of abilities...?

Cheers
Dave

I still see many players complaining about open lounges, the standard of racing, what specs and tyres people use but many still do not use this very simple method to arrange your GT5 friends in a simple and organised way.

The many GT5 online racing communities could do allot better, with it being easier for all to find and maintain a good group of friends to race with.

I think the problem comes from people who are competent racers do not know where to look for what they want, i am part of league's an i come across guys like myself last year, when i just happend to join a room that said Pro Room or something like that, i dont bother much with websites etc so i never noticed this.. my level of racing is quite high an my race craft is a 100% but we all make mistakes, the problem for me thou i adapt very quick is other people's driving styles, i think the room host's have to be stricter.. another problem for people new to GT5 Online is that their are more forgive me (amateur rooms an the other rooms are too fast)

The idea of the accounts is such that the owner of the PSN account that everybody is added to can actually manage who is added or deleted from the accounts. This inviting or deleting racers from the account/s is a way to keep the standard of racing high between those that race together.

3 years into GT5, many racers have moved on, still groups exist of good clean racers but they are all slowly dwindling. It would make sense for all of these guys still active with GT5 online, for the benefit of good clean racing, with an active bunch to all amalgamate and race together.

GT6 will soon bring many retired racers back to the the franchise, and it now looks like the new community features will make it easier for clean racers to meet and race with one another seeing as there will be some kind of club creation which is a great move forward. Lets hope that in practice it serves us well.
