I'm sure I was one of the first to post my disappointment with the quality of the "Prize Cars" in GT4.:irked: However, nudged into action by Kent's thread found (HERE) and my own effort with a "Stock" Sauber vs the Formula GT Series (Run back in June) & found (HERE) I decided to find out just how BAD :irked: they really are. Since I'd already run the Sauber with fairly strict rules I decided to use a similar set-up for this test:

NO Horsepower "Ups" except for OIL Changes, NO Weight Reduction & NO Wings Allowed! Changing Tyres or Chassis/Drivetrain parts Allowed. Plus Chassis/Trans adjustments are "O.K."

Of course with the "mindset" that MOST of the Prize Cars were "JUNK" I didn't expect to "Win" many races. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise! With a little "Tweaking" here & there (Although many races were Won withOUT) I've managed to best the "AI" in 76 Series & 10 Enduros to date. If any of you beat some I didn't according to the rules above, just PM me & I'll add 'em in & give you Credit! 👍

SORRY there's not more descriptions of the action...but when I started I didn't expect to win more than a few races & didn't keep notes early on. I've added a few short notes here & there.

I'd really be remiss NOT to send out a BIG THANX to Kent! I foolishly sold several Prize Cars & really didn't relish running their series to win them again just so I could run the series YET ANOTHER TIME! :indiff: Kent came to my rescue & sent me a "Super Save" with unused rides I could buy onto my card! I owe you one!!!

(Didn't run but NO Doubt it would win)

Nurburgring 4 Hours Endurance: Chaparral 2D Race Car '67 1 A-Spec Changed to S-1 Tyres ONLY!!!
Ran a short test...3.5 Minutes ahead at the end of 5 Laps!

El Captain 200 Miles: TOYOTA 88C-V Race Car (MINOLTA) '89
(Didn't actually run this one but NO Doubt it would win although it'd be a "Handfull" on Sport Tyres!)

Sarthe Circuit 24 Hours I: AUDI R8 '01 7 A-Spec Changed Oil & R-3/R-2 Tyres ONLY!!!
I ran a 1.5 hour test during which I established a 3 minute lead in 26+ Laps & Lapped three of the five "AI". This against a "Stellar" field including the NISSAN Siblings [R-89 & R-92], an AUDI R-8, PESCAROLO & CORVETTE!!! This computes to about a 14 Lap lead over the R-92 by the end of 24 hours 👍

Sarthe Circuit 24 Hours II: BENTLEY Speed 8 Race Car '03 56 A-Spec Changed Oil & R-2/R-1 Tyres ONLY!!!
I was in 5th by the DUNLOP Bridge, narrowed the gap up to the Minolta TOYOTA's tailights right at the start of the Mulsanne...caught a "Slingshot" draft from him & passed the three front runners "Like Freight Train Passin' a Tramp!" Only ran a TEN LAP test this time but the Bentley's an OBVIOUS winner here! :) Over a minute ahead & everyone had pitted. Even talking into account losing HP & the Chassis going away The "Margin" would most likely be 12-13 Laps at the end! 👍

Suzuka 1000km: LISTER Storm V12 Race Car '99 10 A-Spec Changed Oil & R-1/R-2 Tyres ONLY!!!
I must post this one "Conditionally" as it would be VERY Close at the finish in my opinion! THANX to Smallhorses thread found HERE I knew somewhat what strategy the "AI" would use. Ran the test out to 30 Laps at which time I was 25 seconds in the lead...BUT...taking into account that I'd need to stop 6-7 more times for TYRES (The LISTER litterally "Chews" them up! :irked: ) I canNOT say w/certainty that the LISTER can win this thing. I hit my stride about lap #20 & ran off a string of sub 2'03s so I do THINK it's possible w/NO driver errors 👍
EDIT:
Re-examination of my notes shows a lead of about 1+ Lap after 172 circuits "Should" be possible. By FAR the closest challenge I've found in the Endurance section!!!
👍

Fuji 1000km: NISSAN R92CP Race Car '92 10 A-Spec Changed to R-2/R-1 Tyres ONLY!!!
WOW!!! What a "Ride!" Believe it or not...I'd never before driven this thing! Absolutely murdered 'em! 👍 In 40 Laps ALL the "AI" were down by 2 Laps & three of 'em were down by more!!! I figure the 2nd place car would be down 10-12 Laps in the end !!!
👍

Motegi 8 Hours Endurance: HONDA NSX-R LM Edition Road Car '02 1 A-Spec NO Changes!!! NO Tyre Change...NO Oil Change!!!
I was forced to end the BLOOD Letting at the end of Lap #15 :indiff: What with putting 16-18 seconds per LAP on 'em...I lapped the back markers on Lap #6...then got the leaders half way thru Lap #8. In Eight Hours I calculate Second Place would be around 30 Laps behind!!! Even turned it over to "B-Spec Bernard" (I refuse to call mine "BOB") for a bit. Although he was 6-8 seconds off my pace it would still be a "Cakewalk"!!!
👍

Tokyo R246 300km: MITSUBISHI FTO Super Touring Car '97 73 A-Spec Changed Oil & R-1/R-2 Tyres ONLY!!!
FINALLY a race too close to just run a "Test" 👍 I truely did NOT think the FTO capable as PD has chosen to reduce the Down Force to a ridiculous level! :irked: BUT...After a little "Tweaking" & using an "Unusual" tyre combo, I found it was able to get the job done. Full "Race Report" can be found HERE.
👍

The following due to the "Sharp Eyes" of member "GeeTeeR" 👍 THANX...O.G.
old.gif

Tsukuba 9 Hours Endurance: NISSAN Skyline GT-R Race Car (CALSONIC) '93 1 A-Spec NO Changes!!! NO Tyre Change...NO Oil Change!!!
As surmised by "GeeTeeR", NO race to be found here. Ran a quick test & the only challenge would be NOT hitting the other competitors as you lap them numerous times.

I was AMAZED  at how much easier some of the races were this time! Especially the ultra low powered rides like the Citroen & Baby Subie! First time I needed tyres & more HP to best the "AI"...guess I've learned something in 9 months of GT4 after all!:lol::lol:

As always...THANX for wading thru all this! 👍 PLEASE let me know if you find a mistake!!! Just hope it'll help someone to find a "Good Race" you may have overlooked!...O.G.

Excellent! 👍
Thanks, Bob!
This should be stickied at the top of this board immediately!
Maybe a quick PM to one of the mods is in order O.G.! ;)

Omg, fantastic 'write up'! This thing has really lots of information, thank you very much! :) And I'm really looking forward to the McLaren report, I wanted to use that car (when I win it) in the GTWC or the GTAS. If you have won with a big margin, I will save money and buy the Panoz Esparante. Weird that noone ever thought about that car. It's far too slow for it's prize, but it might be the ultimate challenge! :) (I guess the Zonda Race car is slower than the Panoz and I only need 1.5 seconds)

Great stuff OG! How come you haven't won the Opel Speedster Cup with no engine mods, eh? Eh??? :dopey:

Honestly though, some useful stuff there!

Mr.Slow
Good job O.G.!!
But no mention of my Scrooge thread...100% completion with only prize cars (and the obligatory ~30 manufacturer purchases) :-(
THANX for the Kudos Mr.Slow! I'll be sure to check out your thread!

Mr.Slow
Also, you can do the Begginer Lightweight Cup in the Autobianchi for ~30 points across the board. The Ginnetta is too much car for that series ;-)
I think you may have missed the most important part of MY thread. ALL the Series/Enduros were won WITH the "Prize Car" from that Series/Enduro! Thus I had NO choice but to use the AUTOBIANCHI A112 Abarth '79 for the Beginner Sunday Cup & the GINETTA G4 '64 for the Beginner Light Weight K Cup! 👍...O.G.

My apologies O.G. I DID miss the most important part of you thread!!!

Must have been all the drinking I have been doing the past few days.... :-)

Great report!! I'd like to find more time, but I'm eeking out about an hour a day, between a busy medical practice, twin kids and a wife who is scared that I'm going to do a few more all nighters - had 4 since I got PS2 and GT4 3 weeks ago - got all my licenses in one all nighter. Would like to savour a bit more, but that's life.
Live vicariously - I like the comment attached to FastEddie12's post "Never put off till tomorrow what you can leave till next week..."

is the Honda Civic Gathers Drider car a prize car?? if yes, how come i can't find it in the list??

hey guys...i know this is kind of off-the -topic reply BUT i desperately need a little help here... you see i raced in the endurance hall under grand valley 300 km on b-spec... i was hoping to get the mercedez benz c9 sauber as a prize car, however i got an auto union streamlined race car that dates back to 1940's 0r something...i tried to race for the second time hoping the prize car would change but it didn't. i still got the same weird looking vintage race car.. i really want the mercedez sauber....pls..if anyone has the same experience or know how to get the mercedez sauber pls help...tnx guys..

We help those that help themselves here.
Your answer if you can be bothered to look, is in Post #1 the prizecar thread I linked to in your last locked thread.
Have a quick look, or would you like to be spoonfed like a baby?

"pls" & "tnx" are not real words, you need to use capital letters where appropriate too please. ;)
