Is PES5 the European version of WE8:LE? I have the Liveware Evolution with a "gangsta" patch for quite some time now. It´s very improved over WE8, and it has the "elástico" move, I don´t know what word you use for it. Although only 3 players in the game can perform it I have been told.

I purchased Winning Eleven 8 ( PS" version ) in april 2005 here in Canada. I never played a footy sim before ( except sensible world of soccer on the Winuae Amiga emulator ). Having racing sims only with my PS2 I found it a little difficult to play the game because contrary to a racing sim, WE uses all the buttons and joysticks of the controller so I had to practice a lot before playing 1 single game.
The graphics are very good and the pace is fast. I really enjoy WE 8.
I don't feel qualified enough to make a review of it.
Last month I went on vacation to ... Brasil ( my wife is Brazilian ) and when we came back I received the "new" toy I ordered from England: a brand new Subbuteo set ( the last time I played Subbuteo was in ... 1956 while living in Belgium , I even thought the game was extinct ).
I'm hooked to the WE serie.
Should I get the PC-CDROM version ? Is it better than the PS2 version ?
tia for any info.

Yeah, and on the PC version it must be easier to apply patches. But make sure to get an adaptor so you can hook up your DS2 to the computer, since you´re already used to the control´s scheme.

A friend of mine has the pc version of PES4 (I don't think there is a PC Winning 11), it's easy to patch and the game mechanics are exactly the same well if you use a controller.

I wish someone would hack WE8LE so that the online system worked.

IF you have a powerful PC and a decent graphic card, you'll have much better graphic and no slowdown. You can also buy an adapter to use your DS2 controller with your PC. Also, with PC version, you can download patch and real kits :dopey: try this website: www.soccergaming.tv, look for winning eleven, PES forum.

Another good point for the PC version: adding eventual mods and patches.
I already got a DS2 to USB adaptor, I use it to play Granturismo1, F1 1997, Granturismo2 and Colin McRae rally 2 on my PC with the great EPSXE playstation emulator.

I've just watched the WE9 official trailer. Looked pretty promising 👍
I didnt understood a **** beacuse they were talking in japanese but some cool moves where shown as well. Awesome , cant wait!!!!!!! :D

Edit : Watched a couple of other videos as well, and the passing doesnt seem easy, but realistic 👍

Not yet. As I said, I´m wating for a good patch to be released. There are some patches already translating the game to Portuguese and English, but I want the shirts/sponsors/badges right too.

The thing is there´s no editing tools for WE9 yet, people are using the WE8 ones, so this could take a while. I´ll probably end up getting a unfinished patch in the mean time.

Edit: BTW, have you guys seen this?

That link just crashes ie and firefox for some reason.

Bah I just wanted someone to complain at how hard the game has become. :grumpy:

It´s a streaming video, and it plays fine here.

I´ll should be playing WE9 by the weekend, I can´t wait too long.

Bad timing for the w11online crew, they´re about to release an awesome patch called BR2005 with a lot of Brazilian teams fully updated, stadiums totally modified to resemble Maracanã, Morumbi, Vila Belmiro and others, fully translated to Portuguese and I think they´re even including Portuguese commentary ripped from the PC version of FIFA 2005.

I mean bad timing because it´s a WE8LE patch. :indiff:

Well, but this will still be biggest Brazilian patch ever released, and it will serve as a test for an upcoming WE9 patch. I might even get it if it´s really good.

I should have been playing we9 right now but my brother did never came back home since he has the game, probably this weekend.

WE9 rocks! I played against my brother for the first time this morning and I won !!! (I was Chez Republic and he was Ukraine, 3-0) :D (He had it since it the day it was realesed :P , Then he won the rest of the 4 matches (1-0, 2-1, 1-0 and 2-0).
The AI is hard to beat (they are intelligent as ****, I can easily win on 3 stars, maybe 4 as well. The passing is alot harder, and shooting is alot better. I love the dribbling part 👍 I'll defenetly but PES5 when it comes out! This is teh best soccer game on earth!!!!!!! Screw FIFA! 👍

I have played WE9 a couple of times so far, I´ll play more on the weekend.

I noticed the Edit mode is much deeper now. For once, if you don´t like patching and have a lot of patience you can draw the team's real emblems and sponsors yourself. Also there are new animations, more life like.

I didn´t find the game more difficult as a lot of people are saying. My friend said they made it so real it lost some of the fun, but I don´t see that. Anyway, I´ll make up my mind about it after I play some more, but it looks like a good improvement over WE8LE so far.

Including SPFC and Santos was a good thing also, they´re the strongest teams in Brazil right now altough São Paulo didn´t win a single game after winning the Libertadores Cup. :(

I won´t be playing the Master League right away though, I´ll wait until a final patch is released. For now I´ll have my fun with the cups and playing with friends.

How do you compare the game speed ? Is W11-9 faster ,slower or the same as W11-8 ?
I found W11-8 just a little faster than real life soccer, but it's just mt opinion.

It seems the same to me, maybe a little slower. But I think you can buy the "speed change" at the WE shop.

Edit: Here are some videos with the new moves and explanation on how to perform them. But it´s written in French, so if Biased Turkey could translate it to us it would be great.

There´s a .txt file in Portuguese with it too, but it´s Portugal's Portuguese and I can´t understand half of it.

Some translation from the French screens:

coupfranc1.wmv:
Free-kick ( Floating ball 1 )
Just after the gauge stops, keep the triangle button pressed while the player is running

coupfranc2.wmv:
Free-kick ( Floating ball 2 )
Just after the gauge stops, keep the triangle button pressed while the player is running

coupfranc3.wmv:
Free-kick ( heavy )
Just after the gauge stops, keep the X button pressed while the player is running

coupfranc4.wmv:
Free-kick ( accurate )
Press "back arrow" so the ball raises ( do not shoot strongly )

Nice movies.
I'll go on with the translation during my lunch break

see ya in 2 hours

I beat Jack at WE9 yesterday :D

It has improved quite abit, very good. The physics are slightly different and took a game to get used to (N.B. Jack won first game on Pens) but I won the second.

Passes are much looser and Robert Carlos finally take free kicks like he does IRL (Not the run up, the actual way the ball travels).

Seems good, but I'll have to wait till PES5, I lack a chip :(

Some awesome new moves there!

I've played WE9 two or three times and it's turning out to be a great challenge, specially once I put those new moves to practice. :D

By the way, Felipe. That's not Portugal's Portuguese; that really-bad-internet-translator-Portuguese!

Oh, I knew there was something wrong with it. But I thought maybe they were using Portugal's lingos that I didn´t know of.

I suck so bad at WE9, eh i'll start playing it when the transfer window closes and someone makes an uptodate player database.
