Problem With Loss Of Game Progression

Wondering if there's anyone else with a similar problem to what I'm experiencing and, if it's a known issue, whether there's a workaround solution to correct it? The issue is that I've seemingly lost all game progression and all my cars in the garage.

All the 25th Anniversary cars, the cars that I bought, the gifted AMG Vision GT, and the cars gifted through the natural course of game progression are missing. The last car I drove (which would normally be the car you'd currently be occupying) is listed in the top right corner, next to the start menu - it's also the car that shows up in the game save file. Looking in the stats section lists one car in ownership, which seems to suggest that, although all the other cars have been wiped, the car I last occupied has not been. However, any section that requires a car in your possession prohibits my entry (Garage, Online Seasonal Events, Career Mode, Tuning and Maintenance, Goodwood, Photo Travel), stating that I need to be in a car to proceed (allows entrance into Lunar Exploration). So, literally, all the cars in my possession have been wiped.

Oddly enough, the AMG Vision GT concept car, which should now be listed at 1,000,000 credits, is now available to be gifted again in the Vision GT section, as if it was never awarded in the first place. Receiving the car as a gift again allows me passage into those previously blocked areas. All the gold medals and all of the stars in Novice and National B have been wiped. Yet, I can still enter into the National B and National A area of Career mode which would normally be locked unless you previously unlocked it (International B, International A, and Super still have the locked graphic in the corner). It also states that I have a National A license in my Stats area (even though the National B License Test and the National A License Test are both locked).

All the gold medals in the Goodwood Festival of Speed are also wiped, however, all the missions up to the Ford GT40 are still available with a "NEW" demarcation, indicating I have somehow yet to enter any of them (I had four intervals of those Lord March invites). Of course, if I had not entered any of them there should only be the first set of three missions available to enter. There's also videos in the Gallery showing some of those missions being completed with times seconds below the target required for gold medals. How is it possible to have such contradicting data within a single game save profile?

Stats area shows self conflicting information as well. Game progress is now at 0%, with zero license awards, and zero stars, yet it states that I've had 44 races, covered 398 miles, amassed total earnings of 479,330 credits and currently have 396,830 credits. It shows the figures for "Longest Total Distance", "Most Wins", and "Top Speed" in a car, along with the name of the car that stat was accomplished in, however, the cars that would normally be pictured beneath the name are absent. The "Favorite Course", which would normally show the track with the most mileage is simply blank (---), indicating I have yet to step foot onto one track at all.

The trophies awarded during the natural course of game progression are also present in the Trophy Collection on the server side, most, if not all, of which would not be possible with a 0% game progression, zero license awards, and zero stars (Novice Graduation, Careerist: National B, All-Gold National B-License, All-Gold National A-License, Twinkle Twinkle: 25 Stars, Starstruck: 100 Stars, etc.).

Everything in the options menu is also exactly as I've set it up from the beginning (Steering Controller setup, Sound setup, etc., down to the Demo Start Interval). It's like I'm starting with a new game profile in terms of game progression and yet it's clear that there are remnants of my original game save file, as well as its true state of progression.

Don't know if it has anything to do with this, however, before the game fully booted, there was a notice for an update, to which I confirmed yes - I had already downloaded and installed the Day One 1.01 Update at the very beginning.

I'm also aware that people have lost cars placed in the Stockyard, however, this issue involves the loss of all cars in the Garage (not in the Stockyard, although I did place them all in the stockyard early on to see what that was about before immediately transferring them back), and the loss of game progression back to square one with clear indications that the game recognizes progression has occurred well beyond that point.

Obviously, there's something wonky going on and I certainly don't want to have to delete my save file and start all over again, nor do I want to proceed with the current save file, which would basically be like starting all over again without the ability to get all my cars back - quite a frustrating set of options to be given. Is there anyone else out there with the same problem? Is this a known issue that people (and Polyphony) are aware of and is there a way to fix it?

Same happened to me yesterday and had to start over.

What I noticed is if you look at saved data on your XMB you will see the GT6 game save and the back up. Now the problem for me is my back up was saved at exactly the same time as my main save so both were corrupted. However if your back up is saved at a different time I would suggest you delete your main save and start up GT6. The game will then ask if you wish to load your back up.

Did as you suggested, big boy ;) but still, when i exit out & re-enter it asks me if i want to use my back up...

If your cars are still missing after selecting yes to loading from back up, then the only answer is to restart. I am now copying my game save onto a USB stick after every session to make sure.

Wow, after reading those links (thanks for that), seems like it's a relatively common issue. Glad to see I'm not alone, insofar as it being an issue that PD has to deal with. They really should address the issue publicly to let those that were affected know where they stand and how they will proceed with a solution, so that we know on whether to hold off for a fix or whether we will ultimately just have to start all over.

Interestingly, rfa, you noted in one of the threads something you refer to as a GARG bug. I also saw GARG somehow appear in the title for Setting A in the Car Settings menu. I thought it was odd, figured it was just a glitch, deleted it to the default of having no name input, and paid it no mind until I saw your post. Haven't seen any other reference to a GARG bug - is that a known issue related to this?

Thus far, it seems the one indisputable commonality to all of the instances have to do with being prompted with an update notice. I don't see how PD can not address this to those that have been and will continue to be affected by it. Is everybody really just resorting to starting over from scratch? Is that realistically our only option?

You could try going into Options & running the salvage game data function. It's just a guess & a long shot, but I hope that fixes your problem.

This reminds of a major bug in NFS Shift 2. I had to wipe everything and restart from scratch - luckily the DLC I bought could be re-installed!

That did not work for me. I don't know what to do for PD to know this very annoying bug, but we should find a way to tell them. Maybe some moderators at GTP could transmit this bug to PD. Loosing 10 hours of progression (licences, car tuning, cars, ...) is so annoying. Of course, USB every day now !

I also got GARG in the setting before it happened; it appeared when I modified the power (power limiter) to an AE car; but I still don't know if it is related. It appears that around 10 players here got this bug, it is not so large compared to the number of GTP members, but at least you are not alone. Had to restart everything; I was almost at level S licence, now back to national... The good thing is that in this way I will probably not finish the game for christmas already :-)

Like I said, it was a long shot. Sorry you guys are having this issue. By the way, do you back up your game data to USB stick? Have you tried loading that back on? Or have you tried deleting your game save data & using the auto back up data?

I've re-loaded my PS+ save FOUR times & this keeps happening.

I haven't had this problem but what I've been doing, like in gt5, I'm backing up my saved game data after every session on a thumb drive. I advise doing this. RFA try it with a thumb drive and not the psn storage an see if that works.
