is there any thread in the GT5 forum that contains a list of-- well I'll be frank about this one-- scammers? You know, players who don't keep their word/do their own end of the deal/etc ?

Three days ago I traded with someone, he asked for a Dodge SRT4. Luckily, I have a couple of those lying around so I agreed to trade with him, in exchange I asked for a Subaru Impreza Rally Car '03. We both agreed on the "trade". He said he needed the car right away so I gave him the SRT4 first. Up until today he hasn't given me the Impreza I requested. He has been online for the last three days and is online as of now. I spammed him with messages, asking him if he had already sent the car. I check my Community page in the GT Life screen in GT5, no gifts. Nothing. Zip. :grumpy::grumpy::mad::mad:

Because if no such thread exists, I would be more than happy to create one. It will contain a list of PSN User IDs that have bad reputation in trading, and would be useful in warning GTP members and non-members who will visit this thread. Once they see this particular PSN User ID, they can avoid him so as not to fall victim to this... :censored:hole. :)

No, that thread only accounts for GTPlanet members who trade with each other. I am talking about a list of PSN User IDs (those of which may or may not be registered members of GTPlanet) who have bad reputation for trading in GT5 (whatever form of scamming they do). Also, that thread only has positive and neutral reputation, not negative reputation.

There's no negative reputation because the mods "fear" (I can't think of a better word at this point) that the worse case scenario would be that X person claims to be scammed by Y, and Y says something else, and then it basically disintegrates into a blame game with no real proof. Plus, it wastes everyone's time and doesn't do much for those involved either.

Unfortunately certain people in life think they're smart & clever by doing this. Simple they are not it's a computer game nothing more nothing less. Don't give up on trading because 99.9% of the people who use the Market place are good honest people & will give you stuff for free as well as trade just remember to return the favour if & when it's required.

It's much, much simpler than that. It's nothing to do with us and breaks one of our rules.

There is no such thing as trading in GT5. There is a gift system which allows you to give other accounts cars (within value limitations), without requirement. Trading is something players have come up with themselves - I'll give you "x" if you give me "y". We have a forum that allows people to find other users with "y" (with the AVAILABLE tag) or to get rid of their "x" (with the WANTED tag), but whatever gifting deal they come up with is entirely between the two of them and then it's conducted over PSN.

We aren't the PSN police. Censuring users for what they do on PSN is not within our remit (you'll note that we can, will and have censured users for what they do online in GT5 - but only when they're carrying the GTP_ tag and when it's a GTP_ event). Any dispute that arises from one party not gifting to another party what is expected and when is a PSN dispute - and since there isn't a GT5 trading feature, that won't get very far either.

At that point the dispute becomes he said/she said and there's no proof of anything (usually). We're not particularly keen in getting involved in tit for tat arguments about wrongdoing with no proof wrongdoing even occurred - much less who's to blame. And then we hit the AUP:

AUP
You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.

Sticking someone on a blacklist is harassment. Even if you think it's deserved, with no proof of misbehaviour in a one-to-one agreement to co-opt a game function through off-site means, we're simply not interested in entertaining it.

If you don't want to be ripped off in a "trade", don't "trade". Gift to people you trust who need things and ask people you trust to gift you things you need. Some members have created a whitelist in the Marketplace forum which allows you to see who they trust, in case you have run out of options on your own list of people you trust.

To avoid losing anything (except a trade day) always back up your data to a flash drive before sending the gift. Yes, the other person may be getting a "freebie", so to speak, but at least you won't be losing anything except the trade day if that person decides not to send anything back.
