Problems using the Driving Force Ex in the PS2 controller port

Hi guys! I got a DFEX for christmas, but i have a problem. When i use it in the PS2 controler port, the pedals are like on/off. I have no control of the throttle or brake pressure. I have full control when i use the USB, but for games that don't support a USB wheel (such as Test Drive Unlimited and PS1 games) it's a real pain to use.

Is it just my wheel, or is there something i can do about this?

I dont think there is anything you can do unfortunately
I have the same wheel and in most games if its plugged into the regular controller port, it is like that
