What car and setup are you guys using for this race? Since there is no cap on the horse power I first went at this with a maximum upgraded La Ferrari but the Sports Soft tyres make it incredibly difficult to stay on track. My second try was a fully upgraded Veneno (costs like 12k mileage points to do so, wtf???) and while the 4WD drivetrain was clearly helping a bit, again staying on the track was very difficult. That was even with TC all the way to 5.

I'm not sure what car the 1st AI is using but I notice they rocket away at a whopping 25-ish seconds in no time but then keep hanging around that time. Is this AI rubberbanding in effect? I know the race is 8 laps long and a gap of 25 seconds should be possible to close in that time, but sjees I can't even keep my car on the track for one friggin' lap.

Am I doing something wrong here? Probably. But to me it feels more like a driving-on-ice experience rather than driving on tarmac. Surely a hypercar on Sports Soft should not feel this slippery to drive on a hot sunny day on Willow Springs? PD, where is the grip of my tires?

I didn't have any trouble with all the races I did before this one, some were even way too easy if you went with a max. upgraded car (max allowed BHP, max weight redux and highest allowed type of tires) at it. But this race is starting to annoy me.

I did it with the KTM X-BOW tuned to N399 (1 click below N400) with weight added to 900kg for more stability. It was a tough but fun challenge.

I did the race twice, all on sports soft and no TCS. For the first I used a 458 Italia and finished second behind another 458 with 25 secs gap. For the second race, I used an F40 and and won the race. The leading AI is still a 458 but I got him on the fourth lap. I think the AI behaves differently depending on which car you are using.

But one thing's for sure though, Willow Springs is a nightmare to drive on road cars (or any car tbh).

Hmmm if you use a lower class car (like N399), do all the AI pick a car in the same class then to match yours? I did not know that.

Adding weight for stability is a good tip, I've always been reducing it so I'll give that a try.

Nope, I had to beat the 458. He was fast.

Alright, thanks for the info. I might give it a go in the Peugeot RCZ road car we got from the mileage store then. To me these cars in general feel a bit more powerful than the usual road cars. If that doesn't work I'll wait for the Alfa 4C in 1,5 weeks. :)

I used the 458, fully tuned chassis/diff/transmission, stock hp/weight and sports soft.
I took me several tries to beat the challenge... and, once you finally get by the lead 458 he is not one bit afraid to pressure and stick the nose under you... so, protect your line.

That challenge is very unbalanced. I did it with the KTM X-Bow. Set to N200 (199) you can make it to second, yet first is way off. At N300 you make it to second at the half point, yet when you take the lead the AI will do everything to run you off the road. He succeeded in the last lap hitting me from behind in the last corner grr. Still got second as the rest of the field was +40 or so behind. Did it a third time at N400 for an easy win.

The Alsace race basically goes the same except the rabbit starts at the back of the pack and comes out of nowhere at the end. I held him off for two laps yet he managed to force himself past in the final chicane, this game... The pro league races are much better (with N300)

As “graveltrap” said. There’s no need to upgrade or tune the car. I did it with a stock Mclaren MP4 with sport soft tires. I imagine that if you upgrade the car, then is more difficult to control with the sport tires.

Also, if you didn’t know. If you pick a car that is more powerful than the competition, like running with one that is in a different category, the cpu that it’s in first place will have a boost that will get him way ahead. And if you manage to pass him, the rubber band will kick in and no matter how fast and perfect you run, it will be always on your tail. At the first mistake you make, it will pass you.

For this reason, if it is a N600 event, do not pick a N1000 and up car.

X-bow, n300, added lightness, TC 2, abs.
I got hassled by the wild Enzo and a veyron. Actually lapped the Enzo after it got itself in the pits. Weird!
The veyron was just fat and sideways everywhere. Very unpredictable. The 458 in 1st behaved itself but was overtaken by the veyron behind me and I was chased hard for a few laps. I really dislike Big Willow! Very unforgiving track.

This happens no matter what.

I used a lightly tuned X-Bow with Sport Soft tires. It's kinda luck of the draw on what car the game decides to boost the performance of once you catch up. I made several attempts at the race with the X-Bow in stock trim and, while I easily caught up to the leader within three laps or so, he got such a ridiculous rubber band that I couldn't pass.

Then I came back the next day, swallowed my pride and boosted the power a bit. The game decided to let another X-Bow qualify on pole and whatever boost it got wasn't enough. Had a 17 second lead before the AI in a Lamborghini decided it was his turn and started cranking out fast laps at the end.

Managed to win the race by a second+ and got the 50% clean race bonus along with the same 60% performance bonus I got with the stock KTM. I guess the performance bonus is purely based on class.

Used the Veneno with sport soft. Braking balance set to 2 towards rear, helped a bit with the steering as I found it more or less impossible to steer it when it was set to 0. As a newcomer to GTS I used TCS at 2. Managed to win with 0:00:020 in the end

Stock power/weight X-Bow, with some suspension and diff tuning - took the lead lap 4, then managed to lose 20s end of lap 6 when I slid wide in the final turn and spent time spinning in the dirt, dropped to 4th, but rejoined and won by a couple of seconds.

X-Bow is an awesome drive :)

Turn 9 in the x-bow is a clincher .. it got me twice both on lap 8 (went into the dirt) and I ended up second both times. Got lazy and switched to the LaFerrari and won it pretty easy first attempt.

Eh, there's an old saying... the beatings will persist until morale improves. And the whip here is the super sport tyres.

In this and the Ferrari Cavallino challenges you're limited to super sports and you're getting competition w/ LaFerraris etc.

So you have to get used to 6-7-800hp on SS tyres.

Midship challenge you can use just about any modern Lamborghini and walk it in. The 4wd is such a life saver however not so for Ferraris.

I used the 458 GT3 Lvl3 everything with either TCS0 or 1 and it should be fine with some practice.

You get used to wheelspin and no traction until 4th.

I'm sure the Group B challenge is just as nonsense on super sports. I couldnt help but smirk when I finished the Big WIllow challenge in the Pikes Peak Audi. I think one the 3rd go. The two first goes had me swearing big time since every off onto the dirt is a race finisher... ie. click retry.

I’ll post the setup of my recently tuned Ferrari 458 which is effective for both MR challenge and La Festa Cavallino events.

But if you have some spare money, get a McLaren F1 (and you can reduce weight to the mimimum if you want), and it will laugh at even those rabbits and rubberbanding AI that try to break your lap time.

Though that DeTomaso Pantera AI in the Suzuka race is a wacko.

Any Gr.3 Road car should do, if you’ve used them before you should be used to the sport softs feeling. Alfa is better but I’ve done it with the RCZ as well (but I use a wheel so if you’re on ds4 you might just be better sticking with 4wd)

I'm on the DS4 and used the Alfa road car with just the trans top speed set and won easily. I had no idea how difficult the other events were if you got one of the fast rabbits. The Bugatti tries to murder you. I think I used a Lamborghini for the other two.

Here’s my setting for the 458. Definitely capable if tweaked.

Did PD update this event and make it harder? I've seen some YouTube replays where the player is starting 16/20, but for me I'm starting at 20/20 which adds about 10 seconds extra to catch up.
