I had to post these........

Live shots of the crash scene from the one and only "Le Mans" starring, written by, and directed by the one and only Steve McQueen....

Note the last one shows the throttle was actually stuck open (intentionally) as seen by the rear wheels spinning. This particular car was not in fact a Porsche 917. It was a set of 917 body panels on a Lola chassis.

And here is the car it was meant to represent. A car that ran in the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans, but failed to finish.
