Allard has a rich racing history - with both Zora Arkus Duntov (the father of the Corvette) and Carroll Shelby (the father of the Cobra) racing Allards at Le Man early in their careers - it's probably where they got the idea of a big V8 in a light chassis.
This car was built in 1958 and originally sported a 5.4 litre Cadillac V8, but this was upgraded to a 6.4 when the bigger engine became available. With 400bhp, the car is geared for 165mph at the 5,500rpm redline. Stopping is via front discs and inboard rear Alfin drums.
