There is no DLC on Day1 with the Season Pass. That will come later.

On Day 1 if you preordered the Deluxe Edition you will get:
  1. Base Game $69.99
  2. Japanese Car Pack - Preorder bonus (4 cars) $0.00
  3. Season Pass $29.99
  4. Motorsports Pack - Season Pass exclusive bonus (4 cars) $0.00
If you preordered the Standard Edition you get this on Day 1:
  1. Base Game $69.99
  2. Japanese Car Pack - Preorder bonus (4 cars) $0.00

The 8 car and 1 track DLCs will come at a future date. There will be 4 of them. Those are the DLCs that you are buying the Season Pass for.

If you do NOT preorder, then you will get the following as separate purchases:
  1. Base Game $69.99
  2. Japanese Car Pack - available date and price still TBD
  3. Season Pass - which will include Motorsports pack $29.99
  4. 4 DLCs of 8 cars and 1 track per DLC $0.00
If for some reason you decide NOT to buy the Season Pass, you get this as individual purchases:
  1. Base Game $69.99
  2. Japanese Car Pack - available date and price still TBD
  3. 4 DLCs of 8 cars and 1 track per DLC $9.99

There are no details yet on what the content of the 4 DLCs will be.
Thanx a lot for your answer.

Vanilla pCars 2 is £37.34 on Steam (including the 17% discount for already owning pCARS).
The DeLuxe edition with the season pass is £62.28 on Steam (including 11% discount for already owning pCARS) .
Difference of £24.94.
I can't see the season pass for sale on Steam, but I assume it's £25? (It's $29.99, I believe).

So where's the incentive to preorder the season pass? Why not wait for the first season pass content to be announced and see it it's of interest? The Motorsports Pack has been confirmed as included with the season pass no matter when you buy it (ie it's NOT a pre-order bonus). Better discounted deals on the season pass might also be available by then from resellers, or it might even be cheaper on Steam.

Also, pCARS can be had pretty cheap on Steam (CDkeys or ebay sellers offloading keys cheap in prep for pCARS 2) so it might actually pay people to buy pCARS before buying pCARS 2 to get the 17% off, AND you'd get a 'free' copy of the first pCARS into the bargain.

NOT buying the season pass at least until, maybe after the first season pass content is available definitely seems to be the most sensible option. Nothing to lose and plenty to gain, unless I'm missing something..?

The Japanese Car Pack is NOT part of the Season Pass, it's a pre-order exclusive.

I know, and I'm not sure what this has to do with what I wrote..? I was talking about the season pass. I even mentioned the Motorsports Pack by name.

Only reason I ordered delux is I know anything SMS will provide with Season Pass will be worth it. I'm not too picky when it comes to cars, I just have my favorites, but I know SMS is racing-focused dev, so that's all I need to know. I'd be much more hesitant with PD or T10 who love road cars, which I don't have much interest in.

You are correct in saying that there is no advantage in pre-ordering the Season Pass (as we've discussed here already).

Just don't forget that people with the Season Pass will have ready access to these:

Jaguar E-Type V12, Group 44 (1974)
Panoz Esperante GTR-1 (1998)
Audi V8 DTM (1991)
Opel Astra TCR (2016)

I won't discuss if it's worth 30€ in advance, but it is one reason to buy the Season Pack before the first DLC is released.

Misread. I thought you were asking the incentive to pre-order the base game.
No probs, thought that was probably the case.

The only thing that's really holding me back from ordering the season pass now is that one (or more) of the tracks might be rallycross or ice tracks, and those disciplines might not interest me at all (I won't know until I play the game). I'm more of a tarmac racer.

Edit: is there any indication when the season pass will actually be available to buy separately on Steam?

Have not seen any info on buying it separately within Steam, but have seen it shown as a separate purchase on Project CARS website. That said, Microsoft Store stated it was ONLY available as part of the Deluxe bundle, so again, mixed messages.

As for your concern about 1 DLC possibly being something you don't like, keep in midn that the Season Pass gets you 4 DLCs for the price of 3, as well as giving you the Motorsports Pack as a bonus. SO you could say it gives you 4.5 DLCs for the price of 3. In other words, even if you do end up not liking one of the DLC packs, you haven't paid for that one anyways ;)

For me, having Day 1 access to the Motorsports Pack is worth the risk of not liking one of the DLCs

I'm in no great rush. The base content should keep me happy for a long time anyway.
I don't *think* it's very likely that a rallycross or ice track would be one of the DLC, but until I know for sure there's no point in rushing in.

Completely understand. It's all a personal comfort choice. Just wanted to give you more "food for thought" on it.

My guess on the Classic Le Mans version would be the late 80s version if only because it shares so much of the current version, sans the chicanes. My preference would be the 1956-1967 version because it does not have the Ford Chicane.

Ian is pretty excited about the DLC for PCARS2 and I think it's more than marketing hype. I think there is genuine gold here that might just knock the socks off the sim racing community. Stay tuned!

There will always be people not getting the exact car or track they would like, but SMS has been listening to the community and I can fully confirm the epicness of the planned DLC :)
