You're not trolling are you?;) So the game retains or accesses historical weather data + real time? I've never been a fan of weather on consoles but this takes it to a whole new level!!

It doesn't necessarily access the historical database of weather patterns, but it has has a massive bunch of data amalgamated into the engine to produce life-like conditions for the weather, time of day and time of year selected. Let's say last Saturday, at Spa, is was raining at the GP, you could choose last week's date, and three weather cycles of light rain, heavy clouds, heavy rain. It would then, according to it's data analysis, provide what would be likely temperature, air pressure and humidity levels for that day. I can't say it would be 100% historically accurate, but it would be 80-90% accurate to typical conditions.

Where's the 24h and VLN Nurburgring layout?

We asked about this before on the forums, and the answer we got was something along the lines of the GP and Nords area need to be 100% complete and bug free before mashing them together. Otherwise, they have to do a lot of work multiple times rather than once. If it happens (unconfirmed), I personally wouldn't look for it on release day.

No problem, it's just a question that will definitely be asked many times after release. They should put a map of the layout on the track selection screen with "coming soon" tag.

What happens in game if the temperature was below freezing with either icy conditions following rain or even snow? Is it just corrected in the in game data to not be quite so c..c..c..cold? :nervous:

Pretty much. While there are atmospheric anomolies that the game engine can't predict for, it's only really Cadwell Park and Nurburgring out of the in-game tracks that are subject to such extremes of weather. It has been mentioned that we are unlikely to get snow sadly, the idea of racing during a snow storm is as ludicrous as it is dangerous.

While it can take an average for the time of year, it can't say it's going to be -4 on one particular day. If the average for the time of year, for example Germany and Scotland are pretty cold in December-January, is hovering around 2-3 degrees during the day, then that would be replicated. However, if there is a spike downwards in real-life, the game wouldn't replicate it on the consoles (it can connect to a website for current real-time weather information, but that's another case). Same way like last week and early part of this week where it was unseasonably in the UK, the game wouldn't replicate that as it's not a mean or mode temperatures for the time of year.

Ok. Thanks. It's still it's a nice system. If we decide to race in the winter for the track is there still a chance of getting cold but clear sunny weather?

What does the temperature go up to at somewhere like Dubai? Can this increase the liklihood of blown engines (if an option is on)?

snows at SPA as well

Although it is of course reknowned for it's lovely rain :)

Racing in January in Northern European climes are likely to result in very cold weather, with a chance of rain (if you choose realistic). Dubai can go to 40s-50s, so if you are constantly on the rev limit, don't open your cooling, etc., yes you can easily blow your engine.

Very funny that Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is called Besos! I'd like to say (actually, I'd like to think) that the name is not taken from besos (spanish word for kisses) but from Besós one of the rivers surrounding Barcelona.

Please gentleman, you may go on with your discussion

Yes Otis, you are correct. They are using pseudonyms to replace the real names until they get the full licenses.

Was Circuit Gilles Villeneuve ever discussed? I absolutely love that track and only have it currently on F1 2010 and it's fine but the graphics are awful.

Historics are not out, it's just that they are to be released as DLC after the game's release. Also, please don't read DLC as 'paid for DLC'. The main reason is because they have had to be postponed slightly while the main career-based cars are completed first. Please don't think they wont be included.

@Fat Tyre, Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve was discussed, but it was chosen not to be included as it doesn't have much of a place within the envelope of GT racing. We may see something at a later date, but don't hold out too much hope. Maybe if and when pCARS2 comes out, and the devs have less work to do on modelling the original tracks, we might see some more of the tracks people have wanted.

since your talking about gt racing was there any discussion for Sebring? cause id love to do the 12 hour at Sebring and im sure others would too

Again, that was another circuit that has had discussions about it, but I believe from an artistic point of view that it was left out. Please bear in mind the huge number of NA tracks that exist in the game as release and 'unfinished assets', it would result in a very unbalanced game. I can take Sebring or leave it (not a big fan of the last corner ), but I can understand it's position within the racing community. Maybe is will see an entry later on in the development of the game. Personally, I would love to see some street circuits in the game like Long Beach or Toronto.

i would like to see more street circuits too like long beach and maybe even St. Pete, i know Baltimore was raced in the American Lemans series for a year or two but i doubt that would ever make a game but i feel like that would be a tough track to tame but it would be fun. There isnt many street circuits that i can think of that do gt racing, and for the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve the Rolex Series raced there for the endurance aspect of career it could work and for open wheel it would work also
