Ahhh.... It all makes sense now. This is how they will tie in Michael Bay's "Alien" Ninja Turtle back story! How did I not make the connection before?

This movie raised so many questions for me than that it answered... Found some really cool theories online... Lots of people putting in time to think up new things. I did find this really cool take on the black goo though:
