PS3 died....kinda.

I think my slim PS3 just died on me.

I only get a black screen, though it seems to start and load just fine, I also hear sounds, guess the graphics chip got fried. Checked the cable, checked the screen, both are fine. Oddly there weren't any signs of the chips impending death though, it worked fine yesterday and then when I started it today - dead, completely, only black screen. My Screen says it does get a signal but it stays black.

Any suggestions? Is there any hope or do I have to buy a new one?

Have you tried more than one TV?

Everything on my PS3 works with my projector, and my large TV, but when I try it on my 32", GTAV black screens, and Battlefield has no sound. GT6 works fine though.

I've always used the same screen and it worked just fine, I did not fiddle around with the settings or anything but now it ceased to work all of a sudden. I'm going try another TV though. Its really strange, everything works, I can even load the game, I just get a black screen.

Just hooked it to an other TV and it didn't work either, its broken. One day after I discovered my favorite car in GT6.

Just to be sure, you could try an alternative connection. ie. component, scart, s-video, or composite, assuming that you're currently using hdmi.

Sounds like a long shot, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try at this point. Sorry to hear the bad news.
