Set to Enhanced Framerates would probably be best on a 1080P...

Try a 25+ car AI grid, some weather. Pretty sure you'll soon see a difference. And (somebody with a Pro and 1080P correct me if wrong) set Boost Mode on in the Pro. I thought I read that this helps things if running a 1080P.

The latest and shiniest seldom matters much in racing games. They always seem to trail the bleeding edge quite a bit compared to other types of games. Took PD four years to bring out a PS4 game... :dunce:  :banghead:

The boost mode works only on games that didn't receive any PS4 Pro compatibility /upgrade as for example Assetto Corsa or older games.

Once a game is upgraded with extra features for PS4 Pro the boost mode doesn't work ..

That is why finally Sony added the "boost mode", because before that it wasn't even worth to upgrade from a standard PS4 to a PS4 pro, cause the normal non pro upgraded games had the same performance on the PS4 standard than on a Pro .

Now with the boost mode it's worth the upgrade because it makes the framerate stable of the normal non pro upgraded games

In the latest firmware update they also added downsampling, so if you put the game as PC2 in resolution mode (2k) with a 1080p TV and the downsampling mode enabled from the PS4 Pro you will have even better graphics and AA on a 1080p screen compared to the same game running on a standard PS4.

PCARS 2 is already downsampling when you're playing on a 1080p TV, which means that the supersampling option of your PS4 Pro will have no effect.

I couldn't get over the difference last night when I finally put my rig back together and fired up PCars 2. I went for enhanced resolution as I don't have a 4K tv.
The game looks and feels amazing.
It could well be the placebo effect or the fact that I haven't raced in a long time, but the ffb and physics felt amazing, a real step up from what I remembered. Has anyone else experienced this too? Could the extra power of the Pro improve these things on the fly?

The game really improved a lot for me the last 2 updates.. Better physics, improved Tyre model, improved livetrack 3.0..

And that on a PS4 AM... So on the PS4 Pro version that runs more smoothly and stable sure that it's even more enjoyable

The supersampling mode fromPPS4 Pro works diferent than the 1080p mode form a game running on PS4 Pro . .

These guys explains it pretty well and you can see the difference :

The only thing that the PS4 Pro's Supersampling option does is telling the game that it's running on a 4K TV (even when you're using a 1080p display) and therefore will unlock the game's 4K TV options.
The result is that games that are already supporting supersampling on "lowres" displays themselves like God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn or PCARS 2 don't really make any use of it because it doesn't matter if the game is downsampling the image or the PS4 itself.
It only works in games like Witcher 3 for example because this one automatically decides if it'll run in 1080p or checkerboard 4K depending on the display that's connected.

Microsoft has the better solution for this on the XB1X because the console doesn't tell the game what kind of display you're running. That's why developers always have to offer all available graphic modes for every display that's connected.

How do the graphics look on the PS4 Pro with a 4K tv?

Better since I set it to Enhanced Resolution (I initially tried Framerate but got too many jaggies), and better since an earlier update (iirc, v3, maybe v4). I have my Hisense set to HDR Game mode, which lowers the lag.

For me, compared to GTS, I think it is now close enough that the massive track list, time of day and weather outweighs GTS's gorgeous graphics. At first, I was not so impressed.

However, I haven't played PC2 on a 1080P TV with a vanilla PS4, so I really can't do a direct comparison.

We still have issues with framerates at strong time of day transitions (dusk to night and night to dawn can get a bit juddery) and there are some track spots where trackside detail overwhelms the Pro and framerates suffer a bit (a sector in Texas's infield comes to mind, there are others documented), but all in all, if you haven't got the $1000+ to get a decent PC and video card, the Pro is all you need to get acceptable graphics.

Graphics aren't really my main beef with the PS4... PC2's lousy lobby system on PS4 is its main problem, IMHO. And the Pro doesn't help that in the slightest.
