i use mine for speed, just do this: 
Gear 1: All the way up
Gear 2-6: all the way down
final: in the middle
auto: all the way up(be sure to do this first!)
not the best of settings, but they are ok, and be sure to buy all upgrades, everything from suspension to lightweight bodies.
