Thanks for the great racing guys. I will be out of the house tonight and have some racing to do tomorrow so will post up the results and points tomorrow. (plus I need to create a new sheet for it)

đź‘Ť

...I don't know what to say. I crash only one time on my own all season, and it's near the end of the biggest race. Extremely nerve wrecking race for me, I don't know how I held the lead that entire time. My best time in practice was a 30.2 but I didn't get even close to that in the race.

Heck, I haven't actually won a proper race in ages, if I don't count Murray Valley which was pretty much luck. I can finish in the top four or five consistenly no problem, but winning always seems to elude me in one way or another. I guess I can't be too upset, as I still won Div 1 :)

However, there's always the next race. I'm feeling confident about both my GATE and CALM cars. This drought cannot go on forever (I think)

Thanks for another great series guys, and I'm really looking forward to the start of two more big series in the coming weeks :)

Great race.

Great season.

Thanks, guys. It's been fun. Much better than last year for me. Felt like I was finally on pace half the time. Everyone here is beyond world class when it comes to pacing and racing. Truly professional. Thanks for running it, Jason. Fine Brilliant job.

Now for those who have a lot of free time to read...

The start was mixed up. Got quite a few lucky breaks. The biggest one being when Tim slid off behind me, allowing me to concentrate on my tire wear. I figure my pace was good enough I could catch Wii, but I didn't want to eat my tires, so I was trying to be conservative.

Almost spun in the corners following the corkscrew, completely destroying my tires. Lost my rhythm, Wii pulled away.

When I pit, I noticed I seemed to have enough tires left I didn't need to be so conservative, and Wardez was hot on my tail. When I came out, I figured my only hope was to make sure Wardez couldn't get my draft, and I had to gun down Wii, who came out with a 6 second lead thanks to my dreadfully slow pit stop.

This was my favorite part of the race. Had a nice rhythm, continuing picking away. I knew I was destroying my tires, but I figured it was the only way I was going to win this. Made a couple mistakes, but I was able to eventually get him. Big thanks to the fact that my car really liked cold tires.

Got lucky after the corkscrew. Passed him. I was hoping to continue on, and when my tires eventually did die, have a large enough lead I could limp across the line.

The next lap went like this.

Sector 1: Solid. This might just work.

Sector 2: I can't believe it. I'm beginning to pull away. Maybe I'll finally win one.

Beginning of Sector 3: Wow, that corkscrew can really get me loose. Better be careful or I'm going to end up facing backwards.

A little further: Darn.

Little further: Okay. I saved it. No damage. Now, if Wii can just get around me without contact, I can pick up and battle him to the finish...Crunch.

Light hit, I'm okay.

Damage.

And that was the end of it. My car was so loose with that left rear damage, I couldn't get on the gas with any right hand corner.

It seems odd. I don't remember ever learning about the physics law that states I can't win an FMSC race.

Had a limping battle with Tim on the last lap.

Tim. I wasn't trying to swerve to break your draft. I was just trying to keep my car in a straight line. It was pulling badly.

What perplexed me is why neither you or Eddie pitted early. From what I noticed from yesterday, your car has a lot of go on cold tires, so you could have gone in around Lap 21 or 22, and erased his lead by the time he got fresh rubber. In fact, I had planned on pitting early regardless of where I was on the track. Laguna always bites someone when more than one is on pit road.

I think that was the first time I've seen contact between two cars, but only have one car getting damage. :odd:

Celica Team Canada?

I wanted to pit late as I could so I could eat the tires in the last stint and still have rubber for the last lap ( I was confident I could catch Wii at the time)

That hit was so light I can't figure out how I got damage.

The reason I'm still happy was I actual felt (race winning) fast for the first time since ****** valley.

Sorry about you race/championship. You were right when you said that something was going to happen to you last night.

Laguna always bites someone when more than one is on pit road.
I had a new one today, and I was even alone: Bob took over the car and drove it into the pit road, but then it suddenly jumped back to before the turn, like rewinding a movie, and I was left for another bunch of seconds watching him again do the turn at his glacial speed!!!

I am just happy this happened in a race that was already completely lost for me, had this been on another day he would have been fired :mischievous:

Actually, I was already aware of that. If you go in too fast, the car will reset since the car won't make the tight corner.

Well I had no intention of winning this race. Going in last minute and just making the back of the grid (who were waiting for me nice, proper, and ready to go, lol, felt like an AI race start or something).
Started 14th, a few people disconnected (Rich around lap 7)or left voluntarily. I was just getting my bearings, got around Jay then had a race with guys like bd toward the back, saw cicua parked sideways by Rahal straight, the result of an earlier incident. Was able to collect on a lot of positions in the first stint and then somehow managed to get to 3rd place by lap 25, right on Travis's tail going into the pits.

Really great battles through out, Laguna's a dice roll for me when it comes to consistincy so I was feeling good with just not having any major offs and getting up to third at this point so I wasn't in a hurry to try and wear myself out with a big push for the top spots.

Coming out of the pits for our one stopped, having gone in right behind Travis as I said, I kind of thought I had a chance of maybe catching around the racer of cars, but alas, he was really quick. The gap to Wii was shrinking ever so slightly as time went one, and Travis was getting even closer, pulling away from me steadily every lap.

It seemed like I was slow on cold tires, ok on warm ones, but pretty good on semi warm ones around lap 10 to 15 of a stint. That's when I hit my bests of 30.7. Seemed like Wii was fast on colds and warms but started to slow a bit down more than Travis and I on worn tires.

Travis was just fast all the time but seemed to just have a case of the nerves once he was on the last chips of his rubber so he'd make mistakes and I'd catch up only because of them.

So I got around him by like lap 40 then it was Wii and I, classic rivalry xD. But we hadn't made many mistakes up to this point, just this one slight mistake coming out of the last turn, which allowed Travis and I to close the gap, which I forgot to mention, this was before lap 40.

But anyhow, I wasn't feeling like a contender, just there. I was extremely happy with 2nd to be honest, then Wii had a spin before Rahal aka the graveyard, and I only had to cruise for three laps to claim her. Sweet as.

Great job on you race, well done, you had the consistency and pace.

My car would hit some sort of wall after 16 or so laps. It would be a pain to drive then after 2 or 3 laps of that it would come back to me (I think I was overheating them).

When you passed me on lap 40 I had a damaged left rear, it made the car completely useless on right turns (oversteer). I couldn't make time in any of my best corners.

Well that's racing, but actually I think outlaw pretty much had it, just got disconnected. Could've been any one's almost though.

Definitely can't say I had it in the bag. My lead was going down, but then began growing again once I picked up the pace. Given the lap times I noted throughout the race, carra was actually the one that had a better shot at me, especially during the 2nd half of the race where I would've outpaced Wii on cold tires. My best guess is that carra would've lost time and tires getting around Wii, so he'd needed what you got, a major slip-up on my end.

If we ever run such a long schedule for any series in the future, I do have a suggestion. Given what happened to me, plus the fact that Adam and Nige couldn't be part of today's race, we should have 3 championship races instead of just one, with one allowed drop. That way, things such as prior commitments and disconnects won't have such a pronounced effect on the final standings.

Alright guys, here we are. Congrats to Rich (outlaw4rc) for being the Grand Champion, even though Laguna didn't go as well as he had planned. Unfortunately mechanical failures are a part of racing (*cough*Disconnects*cough*) but he was dominant enough this season to stick it out to the end.

Also, Division 1 dominated the race at Laguna Seca, taking the top 5 positions. OwensRacing was the top Division 2 driver in 6th position.

Thanks again to everyone that participated this season, especially those who attended every single race. For the time being, the main FMSC series will be put on the back burner since my not so distant future is uncertain. Hopefully I will be driving a long haul truck around this time in a few months. For now, head over to the Trophy Cup I just started if the start times suit you. The cars will be run with less power, harder tires and no tuning allowed.

Here are the final results and points standings. The 3-way tie for 5th position was sorted by finishing order in the last race.

Thanks for being so swift with the updates all season long Jason, true class.

It was a truly great series and I hope to someday get a chance to do it as big again.

FMSC's my chicken soup of the GT5 world đź‘Ť

Great racing with you Travis. You got the best of me in the race that mattered the most. Pretty fitting that our season rivalry came down to less than a tenth after being up each other's asses since *valley. Good fun :D đź‘Ť

Lets see... my race weekend...

I came in thinking the "post-season" was winner-take-all so I was nice and motivated to try and follow adam; friday practice went well and I was able to get close enough to the 1:29.9 that he put up in the early season MRLS race to feel like I could hold his tail wind. But then the alien had to tend to business on his home-world and that strategy went out the window. So no adam, no nige meant I got to inherit 2 spots that would have been obscenely difficult to get on the track. Can't say I wasn't happier to be starting 6th than 8th.

Race started without a hitch but the combination of cold tires and nerves made the first couple laps a bit skittish. I was staying with eric who looked like his car was also not happy on cold tires as his rear end danced around on corner exits. Then we go through turn 6 onto rahal and I see smoke up the hill... went a little wide to make sure I didn't get collected by whatever was happening ahead. Then I see something familiar (from spa); a cicua's bright green nose looking right at me. He kept it on the inside and I guess we all made it through OK since there was no SC. Scary moment avoided, another position inherited... p5... though due to the cold tire performance I had a bobble and went back down behind carracer to p6.

As the tires warm up outlaw was vetteling a nice DRS gap on Wii who was leading a train of owens, eric, carracer and I. We didn't take long to open up a nice gap as I saw yellow cars fading behind us. We were all beginning to get eager to get on with the show of catching outlaw but his team mate was holding us back and proving hard for eric to get around... then eric drifted through Turn10 after rainy curve and travis and I inherited another spot the easy way... back to p5.

Travis then went to work on ownes... from the practice session we had on Friday I knew he had pace and how to follow him so I was just sticking with him and letting him work on the more important task of getting round the blue barricade. Travis got him somewhere around lap 5, then I went to work and got round the next lap. So we got one the hard way and were off to go catch wii.... p4.

Lap 7 outlaw disconnected as we were going up rahal and I remember going "OH NO Rich disconnected out of 1st!". Inherited another position to p3. Then there was a bunch of random-er activity while I was going through the corkscrew with a screen full of BRG rear end. All that chat-box distraction caused me to miss the turn into rainy curve and I ended up just doing everything I could to get the car safely back on the road with my right two wheels stuck in the dirt outside rainy.... lots of swearing as I lost carracer... owens went by to reclaim the position that was hard to take... then I saw a yellow car in my mirror and figured josh or green, or maybe the whole pack was about to swallow me. Turns out it was wardez... color me surprised... back down to p5 with a 1:38.8 lap; so there's ~8 seconds pissed down the drain.

So I try to re-focus as I tip-toe with dirty tires through turn 10 and 11 and get back on with the show. Without rich up front and wardez to work with I thought there was still a chance at getting back up to the front. But eddie was possessed and running quick and consistent. I tried like hell to close the gap to him but he was motoring along at a nice consistent clip. He caught ownes... got around... then I caught owens and battled my way by... still the same gap to wardez. push, push, push... we lost ownes but still the same gap to wardez. All the while we cut the lead to Wii down to about 6 seconds and carracer was back in striking distance... back to p4.

At the end of lap24 the top 3 cars dive into pit-lane for the perfect 1/2 distance 1 stop. The lap times we were running hadn't quite slipped into the 1:34's yet so rather than chance pit-lane chaos I stayed out to lead one lap and came in on 25. Josh and the top 3 zoomed by while I was getting new shoes so that put me back down to p5 with some work to do as the late stop raised the gap to Wii back up to ~15 seconds.

Gave myself 2 laps to warm up the tires and then pushed like hell. 1:30.8, 1:30.6, 1:30.4, 1:30.4, 1:30.1 ... josh pitted and I was back in p4 but the gap to wardez was still there. Though it did look like I'd closed up enough to neutralize the pit-gap and was hoping my tires would be in better shape for the closing laps. Went into tire-save mode and dialed it down to 1:31 pace.

In the dying laps I watched wardez catch and pass travis, then I started closing up on him with cicua in the mix a lap down. Carracer was really shaky so I figured I had a chance at him as it looked like his tires were shot; though turns out he had damage. I closed up and cic let me by, but his tires must have been muuuuuuch newer as he was able to bump me out of corners and up the rahal straight. Bit more annoying than helpful though; but no harm done.

As the race was ending I saw Wii limp into the pits and inherited yet another position the easy way... p3! Then had a go at Travis over the last 2 laps but he was able to hold off at the line for a well deserved podium finish to close out the season.

Great finish to a great season. Thanks for another fun ride Jason et'al đź‘Ť

Great way to end the battle đź‘Ť

I only had hopes for a top 5, but when Aderrrm and nige dropped out I was feeling better.
When Wardez pulled up at the back, I was feeling much better.

Travis then went to work on ownes... from the practice session we had on Friday I knew he had pace and how to follow him so I was just sticking with him and letting him work on the more important task of getting round the blue barricade. Travis got him somewhere around lap 5, then I went to work and got round the next lap. So we got one the hard way and were off to go catch wii.... p4.

I raced Owens a lot in ORCA so I think that helped me get around him.

Gave myself 2 laps to warm up the tires and then pushed like hell. 1:30.8, 1:30.6, 1:30.4, 1:30.4, 1:30.1 ... josh pitted and I was back in p4 but the gap to wardez was still there. We had similar times after the stop, I was hitting some low 30s (30.2 - 30.3) but I couldn't get down to 30.1.

As the race was ending I saw Wii limp into the pits and inherited yet another position the easy way... p3! Then had a go at Travis over the last 2 laps but he was able to hold off at the line for a well deserved podium finish to close out the season.

All you needed was 1 more lap and I would have been toast. My tires died on the last lap.

Wait, wut?

(crunches numbers again)

You mean the bonus points weren't already part of the total?

Excuse me for a second:

Well, this is awkward. I honestly thought Wii had this wrapped up, when in fact, the only one that wasn't mathematically eliminated was Nige, but he couldn't come. Still, I have a duty to perform.

Ahem. First off, big thanks to Jason, the RDS team boss, for kicking my rear when I needed it. Also, Jeff (Owens) for being such a great teammate. Pit crew was awesome all year. Nige (Welsh) for being such a fierce, but clean competitor. I certainly enjoyed all our battles this season. Everyone else in D2, D1, Madza, Hydra, PURE, I'm sure I forgot someone there. We weren't always the fastest, but we were always in the mix. I still wish we could've finished Laguna, if nothing else, just to race with the D1 drivers. Not sure what the team and I will do from here, but I'm crossing my fingers for a Season 5. :)

Well done outlaw.
Now if you can stop complaining
But the more I complain, the better I run. :P
Mid-packers don't win championships!
I think it's time to change my intro line. :sly:

BTW, for anyone interested in what setup I had, here you go:

Compared to what I had last time:

Wait, wut?

You mean the bonus points weren't already part of the total?

You must not have crunched the numbers cause they were wrong. :P

I'm sorry but yes, I just realized that I added the bonus points twice. However, doesn't make a difference, you still won it but by a much smaller number. Unfortunately that drops Wardez down some and brings Owens up to 4th.

Last time I do math in my head. I thought that Wii had to finish 4th or better to win the championship. :dunce:

As for the final standings, shouldn't they include everyone, even those that didn't participate in the championship race? Just a thought. :)

The divisional standings were final after Rome, so they are correct as they stand. I could mix them together, but it wouldn't really mean anything.
