They're two different gear systems you sure you multiply them?
I was under the impression that it was an additive system since the rotating shaft from the engine gets stepped up by the ratio of the gear-set setting the rotational speed of the output shaft which then gets stepped up again by the final drive gear. (Which is then split by the planetary gear set and clutches in the LSD)

Where as if they were all in the same gear set where input shaft spins gears with a 4.5:1 ratio which then spins a gear with 2.5:1 ratio before going to the output shaft would be a traditional multiplicative system.
3.36 X 2.97 = 9.979
2.07 X 2.97 = 6.148
1.35 X 2.97 = 4.095
1.00 X 2.97 = 2.970
.74 X 2.97 = 2.198
.50 X 2.97 = 1.485

vs

3.36 + 2.97 = 6.33
2.07 + 2.97 = 5.04
1.35 + 2.97 = 4.33
1.00 + 2.97 = 3.97
.74 + 2.97 = 3.71
.50 + 2.97 = 3.47

At the moment I can't remember the math to turn these into mph, but I can tell you that would be some really quick shifting from 3rd through 6th in the second example.
Also, 6th gear would be less than twice as long as first, in this example, meaning the car couldn't top roughly 100mph.

How would you turn that into MPH? Does the games supply the wheel diameters?

I wasn't using game numbers, but T56 numbers of some type. (not sure what car exactly)

Edit: No, the game does not that I know of.

What's with the gear ratio figures? What are you guys trying to accomplish?

Rear gear ratio is how many times drive shaft turns relative to one rotation of the wheel. basically a 4.10 gear will spin the drive shaft 4.10 times to one revolution of the wheel.

Trans gears do a similar thing to engine rotation.

What are you guys trying to sort here? Don't want to miss out on any good info.

lol, well here's the gist of it, from the past few pages:

The lower the final drive ratio, the better the acceleration, top speed, and thus overall performance regardless of whatever other settings are in the transmission.

So if you can make a set up that uses the lowest FD possible then tune the gears individually so you still shift at the same speeds as regularly then you've got yourself a much better potential.

This is what I did:

first set transmission to default, then lower top speed till it's all the way to the bottom, then set final drive to 2.500 (lowest), then bring the ratio for first gear up to its highest value (longest) and reduce 5th gear's setting till you get an actual top speed read out of 180. You may have to spread some of the gears in between 1st and 5th in order to get them set properly after that.

Sadly I was using a very similar tuning trick for a while. well it made sense to stretch the first gears out and reduce the TQ being applied lowering the levers strength if you will. However I kinda never pushed past 1st and 2nd in attempts. Anyways this will help me some but not like it is for others.

FOREVER SLOW. HAHAHAHA

New MeMe practice all week and still gets beat.

Forever slow!

Heum... I don't understand exactly the aim of the Roll Call Ed. We never did this before, right? Why are we doing this now? Is it useful?

I still need to qualify, but I still haven't run a lap on this track yet :( I'm hoping to get on in an hour or two to start practicing, and I'll either qualify tonight or sometime tomorrow morning.

CB750Kguy
PS3 froze while in lobby someone else will have to start a room.

I assume you used "fixed host" Please use not fixed. That way if you do have issues we all would still be there and RIP wouldn't of lost out half way through his first flyer. :(

Well crud, I missed my oppurtunity to qualify this race, things were fine up until PS3 took a "dump". See you on the back row folks.
