Completely unexpected, in a way!! Thanks Simon and Paul
I knew I had the speed and I guessed I had the pace, but when there's always something happening, you never know.
For me, the race was simple at first sight, yet really complex when you analyse it. I knew I had to get to the front early if I wanted to prevent Josh, Wii or Adven from getting away, so I quickly made my way up to first, and stayed there for a while, then getting behind Josh and cruising to my only stop (fun note, I was planning on two stops, which could have worked just as well, but being with Josh and Wii after Adven's problem, I thought it didn't make sense to risk a 2-stopper since the other drivers were already far away).
But on the lap when I had to pit, I lost the car at the hairpin before the backstraight and lost 4 seconds there. Pitted immediately and charged my way forward to recover the lost time to Josh. From then on, we proceeded calmly until the last lap, where I made a move on Josh, and pushed like hell until the hairpin after the backstraight. At that point, I knew I had it, and of course, I am delighted!!
Now, I guess there's only one way forward... which is pushing hard and trying to make up for the lost ground of the first races! I have realised I basically have to believe in my possibilities, and that will help me avoid any mistakes... which ends up producing decent results. Plus, Nürburgring and Monaco should suit my car, while I really like Spa, so I'm looking forward to more races.
Really really happy!!
I want to congratulate Adven on his recovery from his damage in the first part of the race, and thank Josh too. It was one hell of a fun race! 👍
