Anyone else think this car is too fast? Like it needs to be de-powered?

No way man I quite like the handling and the power of the car it's a good base to start from

Well I really wasn't a fan of it in the Capp cup so I'm coming from there too.

I just don't like short races tbh, unless they're extremely short. In between race lengths of 20 minutes... I just don't feel like are worth practicing a week for... even if it's twice.

But I'll wait until this Sunday to make my final judgement, although it shouldn't be of much consequence.

Also I was thinking about how it'd be cool for the sprint race to only give points out to the top half of the finishers instead of points all the way down. Then the fight midpack would be just as intense as up front.

I'm thinking something like a 120 km (around 50 minutes) feature and 30km sprint (around 15 minutes) would be nice. With a point system like this:

(lol I made that using Wikipedia as an engine. Don't worry I didn't save.)

@RT
Yeah, I was kind of blown over when I realized just how fast it is, but I think it just feel kind of hyper because of the lower weight. It's only like 100kg off of a Miata with 500hp :yikes:. But it's definitely exciting, I like it.

I spent the first lap facing backwards...
I now like the power for time trials, now in a race, contact will be harder to recover from.
I just wouldn't add more power.

I would like this to, BTW, will this be a tuning or no-tuning series?

Had a small window of time to tinker with the car last night... in default trim at nurF it's really only hairy in the first 2 corners. But then it's an rx7 none of them are easy to drive and it is supposed to try and kill you when the boost hits in low gears.
So it's an rx7... and a fast one.

If tuning is banned have you thought about using RM tires to compensate for the lack of aero?

not really, it seems perfect as it is. Getting complacent with that miata eh? :sly:

Not really, just having driven the car and the fact that people are saying it's faster than a Super GT car makes me think it should be de-powered a bit.

I would prefer a short race before a long one, rather then the other way around.

I think with the short race first, people get kinks out of their system somewhat. Immediately fire off a finishing first grid order second race (so people don't sandbag, consider it quali) and everybody is fully warmed up. 👍

Yes, I have, actually. In fact, I think we'll do that on Sunday.

Could I get you to host room 2, btw?

Going to miss the PURE race due to work... but I expect to be done by 2pm so it shouldn't be a problem. Just throw me a PM with everything I'll need to know once it's close to race-day and the dust has settled on all the brain storming.

At least let medium tires or LSD/aero change, that's all I'm thinking would do ok if theres no tuning. As stock the car has NO LSD, so you going with that as well? Only after the update post spec-2 could you purchase the LSD. But stock the car isn't equipped with it.

You can't allow any changes with tuning prohibited. If tuning is not set to prohibited, there's no real feasible way to make sure people don't adjust everything.

It's either all tuning, or none at all. Hopefully PD works on that, would really ease the workload of setting specs for racing.

Okay, so I went a deleted a bunch of people off my friends list, so add away, my children.

This would be similar race format to the BST V8 Challenge and I find it to be very fun. The way its done is Sprint race first then reverse grid for Hour race, which gives faster guys plenty of time to work to the front. But it won't be easy for them to make it to the front, as they will have to try and pass everyone cleanly. And with Wardez's point system the battles would be very intense, giving that everyone is racing clean.

Something we could give a shot and it wont disappointing, in my opinion.

The thing with doing the sprint race first is that it essentially becomes a qualifying race so why bother with week-long quali? It would be annoying to take all that time to qualify for a sprint race where the results would be reversed for the feature.

I get what you mean Wardez, simply saying its a fun format. Having the Sprint race second will work better with your point system also. What we could also do is change tires to either RM or RS for sprint race, it could even out the field and make for more exciting racing. Just an idea.

That would be why I suggested fastest first for the longer second race.

Quali for first race, and fastest first from sprint to second race. The idea is to get the fastest in correct order and everyone will be ready to go for an awesome second race. Either way the short race always feels a bit of a novelty to me anyway, so I'd rather focus on a great long race.

Just an idea

I just took a quick look in the interior of the car and...
Omg! I was just super pleasantly surprised by an object in the interior of the FDTC! A freaking Power FC commander!

You don't understand, I've been an FD fanboy for a long time, and back when I got within an inch of buying my very own '93 a while back I had dreamed of one day having the Apexi Power FC engine mapper at my side. I would never do anything with it, and the controller would be useless in my hands mostly good for the actual tuner that would set up the thing, but I would still ride around with it in plain sight, just like in GT5.

So it probably sounds dumb, but GT just sort of helped me realize one of the younger naive dreams. Thanks, thanks a bunch PD.

I'm coming
EDIT:

I couldn't even do a sub 2min lap :dunce:
I spent too many laps in this weeks GP/f TT, I was driving the car like it was 4WD and I was using the GTRs brake points....

Thanks to this post, now I know what that exactly does. :) That's pretty neat. Didnt even think that thing could cost over $1000. :scared:
