I'm in for the Sunday test race with the Pagani.
I'm already involved in a championship at this time on saturday (and I'm the leader atm 👍) so i can't race in both races.

Cool Will. It's perfectly fine to sign up for just one race, no problem. 👍

I'd love to see some AUS or NZ drivers as well.. But I guess it's kind of late for them.. :(

I hope once the series kicks off that we'll be able to race on a better time for our friends down under.

I probably have the time and the interest to join these practise races 👍 Would it be ok if a used a different car on each day ? Then I could decide wich I am feeling most comftable in during a race.

Ofc! 👍

Same here, but I'm still testing.

OP updated. 👍

It would be great if you tryed both cars for better comparisons, but it's entirely up to you. 👍

Oh, and it would be great to hear some feedback from you on the cars and hear what you have to say about them. I've only done initial testing for the cars, so there's not impossible that we need to tweak one or the other.. And that's part why I'm hosting these 2 races. 👍

So far, the Zonda feels a little uncontrollable compared to the 'Vette.
At Indy, I ran a best time of 1:26.8 and it took three laps. This is after I tuned the car to make it semi-controllable.
ZR1 ran a 26.4 right off the bat with no tuning. I made some minor suspension adjustments and got a 26.2, and I could easily get into the 25s.
The Zonda, on the other hand, after many laps, cold not best its 26.

At Spa (disclaimer, I'm not very consistent here), Zonda was matching the Corvette's T1, but after that, the Corvette smoked it by over a second, lap after lap, picking up most of its time in T2. I think I ran an 11 flat in the Corvette (avg. 11.25), with the Zonda just barely getting a 12.1 (avg. 13.7), and I was pretty much on the limit of my skills. Again, the Corvette could easily dip into the tens.

My biggest problem with the Zonda is I couldn't get to the gas quick enough without it smoking its tires for a hundred feet. With the Corvette, I could relax and result in much more consistent faster lap times.

I'm not sure if I'm just slow in the Zonda or the ZR1 is a little to fast.

Ok, thanks. Very useful feedback. 👍
I kind of saw that comming, so already have a backup plan..
So if we allow the Zonda R to use full DF (40/65), does it get closer?

My plan C is to add 30 kg to the rear on the Zonda, and jump the Power up to 722.. But we'll see after Plan B is tested.
I'm going to get some time for testing come Friday.
Really appritiate your feedback mate! 👍

Btw: What about the tyre wear?

I think giving the Zonda more downforce would be a great fix. If it get too fast I would say all we need to do is lower the front downforce.

I only did multiple 4 lap stints so I could keep tire wear out of my testing.
But what little tire wear I got it look even between both cars.

Thank you so much! 👍

It's totally on my table as Admin for this series to sort the cars, I know, I just saw an opportunity to get some feedback.. ;)
And what I got was extremely valuable. 👍

Cheers

Something like 3, 10 lap races or similar. 👍

Should be a lot of fun!

Definitely interested and think I can make that time work on weekdays. Can't make it this weekend though.

Ok. So me and Remy did some testing around Suzuka (a good allround circuit for testing).

Vette: 1:54.313
Zonda: 1:54.304

And Spa:
Vette: 2:10.069
Zonda: 2:10.205

The cars was tested at the specs listed in the OP.
I had to try a bit harder with setting up the Zonda compared to the ZR1, but I eventually got there with it.

Tyre Wear:
It seems to be pretty equal. Perhaps the slightest of favour to the ZR1.

Conclution:
Saturdays race will be raced with the specs in the OP.
From the feedback after Saturdays race, I'll might tweak the specs.
But for now, the specs in the OP are final. 👍

Setups used:

ZR1:

SR: 13,1 / 13,5

Zonda R:
GR: 330 km/h

1st Pre-season/Test/Spot Race To Day! 👍

RACE 1 | INDINANAPOLIS ROAD COURSE | SATURDAY, JUNE 23rd

ROOM NUMBER: 1472-6681-3759-3054-4573

Rules and Procedures:

*Standard OLR rules apply.
*No chat during quali or race if not important for the race to run smoothly.
If you can't see another car, or if another car appears to jump due to lag, that's a good reason to use the chat. Before the race, I'd appritiate if we could keep of the chat as much as possible. It will make it easier for me as a host to get any information out (Voice chat will be disabled).

*Quali:
-I'll reset the track at 16.40 PM GMT.
From here, the track is open for 15 minutes for you to set the best lap possible.
-At 16.55, I'll start the race.
-It's adviced that you enter the room at 16.35 at the very latest.

*Formationlap:
-Once the countdown timer reach zero, DO NOT MOVE!
-Cars will take off 1 by 1 in a slow and steady pace.
-Pole car will act as pace car. He must not exceed 62 mph (100 km/h), and must keep a steady pace.
-The cars can initially roll single file, but a few turns before the startline, form a 2 lane grid.
-Polesitter decides wich side he want, and the rest sort themselves accordingly.
-Once the pole car reach the startline (For Indy, the startline is the "brick yard" as always. At Spa, pole car will pass the standard startline, pass T1, and are free to start the race once he reach to TOTAL sign just prior Eau Rouge), he floors it and the race is "GREEN"!
-No overtaking prior the startline under any curcuimstance.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you're not the pole car, make sure you do not floor it until the car ahead of you do.
In other words, DO NOT look at the pole car if you're 3rd or below, just look at the car holding the position ahead of you, and when he goes, so can you.
We use this method to get a good staggered start, where the cars line up nicely.
The race is 175 km, so a steady pace will win the race.. Not a few inches in T1. 👍

I'm still going to be racing today, but I have a small risk I might have to leave in the middle race because of my job.

Ok. Thanks for telling! 👍

Room's up btw: 1472-6681-3759-3054-4573

OwensRacing, Racingworld68 and Remy.. We're waiting.
Jeff, I know you got real life commitments. 👍

Great race guys.
I didn't have pace for 2nd but I had the luck (EDIT: I was down a full 1 HP because my car hasn't broken in sooo... ;) )
Great battle with Tim in the opening laps, had a small crash and messed up the front right.
I was slower but I think I had ever so slightly better tire wear in the last half.
Had another great battle with Remy_K 👍 I was trying to conserve my tires and fend him off. Really made for a couple "I'm going to crassshhh" moments when I clipped the edge of the grass under braking.
Tony just killed us all, well done man.

My race report:
Quali was kind of a hassle for me. Did'nt get the car right at all. Got a 5th, wich was decent.. But not more.
Race started, and tony and Brock took off like usual.
Tim, me and carracerptp followed a handful of seconds behind.
On lap 4, Brock made a mistake and went out in the sand at T4, and called it a day there.
So this preety much riuned my hopes of them 2 fighting eachother, making it more achievable to not be left in the dust.
On lap 9, tony went in to the pits, and my tyres was still good, so thought that I'd might have a shot.. (Stupid, but hey.. ;) ), and the lap after, carraceptp pitted as well (IIRC, Tim pitted at the same time as tony), but I kept on going.

But when I expected tony to pit for the 2nd time, he just kept going, and going, and going. And when he eventually pitted, It looked like he was initially going for a 4 stopper, but changed the tactics to a 2 stopper :scared:, that's some effort there tony!! 👍

Either way, I thought he lost a lot of time obviously during the last 4-5 laps on his stints, so did'nt see it as impossible to catch him.. Still naive..

And when it was 8 laps left, I was 35 seconds behind, and was running in 2nd, with better tyres and about 7 seconds ahead of carracer and Remy at the time, and was catching up to tony by like 2-3 seconds/lap.
I then made a huge error comming out on the oval, and spun. I lost about 12 seconds from that.
I maged to pass Remy, but could'nt for my life catch up to carracer.
I eventually finished 36 seconds behind tony.. It could've been a 2nd and 24ish behind tony wich would've made me pleased, but that mistake cost me loads..
Other than that, very good and clean racing from all! 👍

So, before tomorrows race, I'd like to get some feedback on the cars.. It seemed to me that the Zanda R had worse tyre wear, but had a better speed potential.. But when looking at tony, he was doing 16-17 lap stints.. So not sure. But tony is'nt regarded as an alien for nothing..

So what do you guys say?
Try to post all feedback on the cars and race reports in the spot race thread. 👍

Load of fun today! I too missed my tune. Got the car decent other then high speed turning. It wanted to push. Surely have that sorted before tomorrows race.

See you guys then.

Hey guys I spent all my energy on GT Academy just now, but good news, I'm 21st at the time of this post. 11 hours left, wish me luck!

Gonna have to sleep now, body is retiring x)

Might not make it Den BTCC runs past 6pm UK today :(.
