Anyone else played GT5P for a couple hours and wanted to get back into GT4? :D I know there's gotta be a thread about this, but I couldn't find one.

Anyways, I'm not knocking GT5P. I dig it in lots of ways, especially the cockpit view and extra cars to race against. But there's so much missing! :dunce:

After awhile, I turned off the PS3, and got GT4 on my PS2. Ahhh...it's like you buy a brand new expensive pair of sneakers, but at the end of the day, those old Converse Hitops are what you'd rather put on for fun. :D

Exactly. It's the vast choice of cars. The used car lots. More data (although still not as much data & graphs as GT1 and 2 ) More cars. The choice to tune if you want it. The choice to equip whatever tires you want.

I noticed in the GT5P C-class races it just equips a certain tire type and that's it. I'm blowing away these guys cuz I can't put on cheaper tires! It's fun, but also I'm missing the challenge. Hence GT4 to the rescue.

I mean, is that it? Is there no tuning at all in GT5P? :ill: I noticed in the GT5P forum here at GTP they have tuning pages.

You've got to remember that GT3 was nothing compared to GT2 in a way. If there is going to be a GT6, you can bet it will blow GT5 and GT4 away :P Since I have never played GT5, and I believe I never will, the only thing I can relate to your story is a comparison between PS1 and PS2. Some days, I wish I still had it :(

Parnelli, think back to GT4:Prologue, there wasn't any real tuning in it either. ;) I wouldn't fret, I reckon that all the GT5P tuners will have to re-adjust themselves back to proper tuning when GT5 is out, not the PP system. :D

I played GT4 for the first time in ages the other week, and I must admit, it is way better than GT5p, and feels better due to the ammound of things you have and can do...

I just wish I had a PS2 compatible PS3 - the only reason I hardly touch most PS2 games, including GT4, is because I can't be bothered to unplug the PS3 and such...

I'll set up the PS2 with my new TV in half an hour or so, but the new TV is high definition 1080p so I'm dredding the graphics...

Just get a component cable, that should upscale it to 720p at least (correct me anyone if i'm wrong) then pm me and tell me how it goes, I'm after a new 32in 1080p tv myself.

Back on topic: I don't have GT5:P but I'm dying to have it just for the slightly more realistic physics, mostly oversteer physics. Geez even GT2 simulated oversteer better then GT4

I do it on a regular basis.I miss all the cars and tracks, gotta fill my GT desires somehow, until the full GT5 comes out.👍

I play GT4 occasionally for these reasons. First is the number of cars and second is the tracks. If they would release one or two more tracks for GT5P I would spend more time with it. Imagine Laguna Seca or Infineon or even Grand Valley with 16 cars would be nice. Also with GT5P in arcade they should let you choose starting position or let it be random.

Yea I know...GT5 is gonna suck in a few ways, but then GT6 will have 1,000 cars or something, and I'll be playing it till I'm in my 70s

What's the PP system? Sorry man, I've been trying to read all this stuff in the GT5p section, but it's huge. I always get lost on a tangent when I'm trying to read stuff over there. And then I'm afraid to ask questions over there. Some might say "shut up newb! use the search! :banghead::scared::lol:

Oh, and I never got GT4P :guilty: I went straight to the real thing.

When I first started playing GT5P, I was amazed by the graphics and the overall feel of the game. But now that I've had it for a few months, I am less excited by GT5P. I'm starting to miss GT4. And some of the cars that are missing from the newer game, like the Miata.

I was surprised at how easy all of the races were! Maybe that's why. Or maybe the AI are just even stupider.

I played GT4 for a few races last night, and the graphics were very poor...
Do you know anywhere to get the component cable in the UK? I have had a very quick look on the internet with no luck...

Buy a PS3 component cable, it works perfectly with the PS2 too - I know, I have one. Should be available at the same rack at your local dealer where the other PS3 accessories are sold.

It's not that the races are easy or that the Ai is stupider...it's the fact that I can't change my tires. In other words, some of those Sunday Cup races have you on R3 tires. Normally (in GT4) I would substitute cheaper tires if I was blowing everyone else away, but in GT5P I can't do this! 👎 Oh well...easy money.

I've found Arcade mode in GT5P to be better in a way than Sim mode (so far) because Arcade lets you choose between all the different tire types. You can also make the Ai harder via a difficulty switch and you can flick another switch that lets you do as many laps as you want! So I went to one of the newer courses, clicked the difficulty up a bit, and put it at 8 laps! :D Fun times.

But GT4 is still tops at the moment.

PP = Performance Points.

I don't think anyone has answered one of your questions.

GT5:P does have tuning, but you have to progress a certain way into the game before you open it up, when you then change the tuning (which is more basic that GT4) the PP system tries to ensure that cars are evenly matched, so two 700PP cars should be evenly matched.

GT4:P was never released in the US so you would have struggled to find a copy short of an import (and needed a EU PS2).

cool thanks. 👍 +Rep

Yeah! I've been thinking about GT4 a lot lately in effort to not be dissapointed that GT5 isn't out yet. Hence the renewed interest in posting here in the GT4 section of the forums. That and the fact that I haven't even gotten 100% in the game yet after 4 years! A work in progress...

To GBWH1991: you could also hook up with a console switch box. Mine has 4ports so I have the PS and XBOX all hook to one box and with a push of a button..... Here's a link that may be useful for you cats on the other side of things - http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/1/AGS/AGS-switch/3/Console.htm

Easy...

I'm a terrible driver, so I was surprised at how easy the races were even for me. I guess the tires are the reason, even though the AI have the same tires as we do (I guess).
