I know there is already threads about this but, i thoght this should be on the front page so more people can see. The latest Qore episode (16) features Jay Leno's thoughts on GT series, and he also mentioned that the PD team also recorded engine sounds from his car collection. Could this mean the sounds will be improved for GT5? I sure hope so. Any thoughts?

I haven't a clue what Qore 16 means, i guess the sound quality is better than Qore 1.

'Qore' is the online PS3 magazine, it's available for purchase on the PSN.

so Qore 16 is the 16th Episode of Qore thats available

I wonder if qore is only for US psn. Its a video service that talks about the latest in playstation games. Jay Leno is interviewed and talks about PD recording sounds from his cars. Qore 16 is the september issue.

It is quite sad that people have pay for advertising these days :)
Bit unfair comment really..

Although from what i've seen it is full of adverts, it does hold some good information, nothing different from Magazines in print all of them have a high % of advertising space, not that i buy those either though.

You have to pay for Qore? :nervous: Oops, I just watched the relevant bit on youtube, didn't even realise...

Let's hope Jay has a dyno at his house, or they brought one along...

As for the topic: I doubt one can reason that the sounds in the game will improve because car sounds were recorded at Jay Leno's garage. PD has been recording real life sounds for a long time, but it didn't help anything. To my understanding, the quality of car sounds mainly is down to the programming and mixing skills of the PD staff, the source only plays a minor role. I sure hope sounds will improve, but I don't understand this as a sign for it.

Exactly, however with the marked increase in GT5P Sounds over that of GT4, it's safe to assume we really shouldnt be too dissapointed

Here it is......

I posted this in the GT Mobile forum, guess no one goes there anymore :(

Thats why i posted it here so more people can see. Since GT5 is the main game to talk about here. I was hoping that mabe GT's sounds will improve, but i think The Interceptor is right. Hopefully we "hear" otherwise when the game is out.

You think there is a marked increase in the quality of sound in GT5P over that of GT4?! We must be playing different games then, because the tyre screeching is as unrealistic and annoying as ever, and the engine sounds are hardly what I would have called "markedly increased".

Well this video pretty much confirms he is doing the voice over for GT5 aswell as PSP because he said so! Im still holding out for someone like Martin Brundle (who is excellent at track guides) or Clarkson to do the UK version.

I hope thats not him recording a track run through at 0:48 in the vid  I can imagine there is going to be cornyness throughout!

Robin.

For a troll your a pretty poor one 👍

I think the voiceover should be the person who taught you to drive. Your uncle or father or brother or girlfriend's cousin.

"SHIFT!, SHIFT NOW! GAS CLUTCH GAS, SHIFT, YOU"RE GONNA FUP THE CLUTCH!"

PD Have actually recorded the sounds of cars from Jay Leno's garage before (how the Tank car in GT4 came about), so this is even more true.

I didn't know deaf people played GT also?
Come one man, from PS2 to PS3 is a huge difference in the performance, so it's safe to say that the sounds have increased in quality. That you can't hear it is your problem.

'Dont feed the troll'

he's only posting things like this to provoke reactions

I clearly need a lesson of 'how do I recognize a troll' then. He is disagreeing with us and therefore is a troll? Or have I missed something? :scared:

"Application of the term troll is highly subjective. Some readers may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. The term is often used as an ad hominem strategy to discredit an opposing position by attacking its proponent."

Sorry for going OT, back to GT sounds again. 👍

Yup thats very true, it's a good skill being able to spot them ;)

Anyways, what do P.D to get the really rare car sounds into the game, on models which are so scarce

GT always recorded sounds..

Only problem is, They never got the sound levels correct.

Does jay leno have a dyno? I hope because I feel the cars would sound better in game if they recorded them under load.

My two cents on Qore - Qore costs 2 bucks an episode if you subscribe, its arguably worth the money if you care about early beta access to new games and all the free psn games and themes that they throw in.

PD also records sounds while the vehicle is stationary, and not under load, hence the uninspiring sound.

PD could have visited Leno's garage to get sound recordings of the new cars eg. ZR1

How do the makers of PGR and Forza record their sounds? Anybody know? I thought the PGR sounds were very impressive.
